"It’s already pretty good. The other two rooms, which are a bit bigger, also cost twelve hundred a month!" the agent said.

Ling Feng listened and was speechless, managing a wry smile: "Alright, let’s go with this one then!"

"Deciding so quickly? Not going to check out other apartments?" the agent asked.

Ling Feng shook his head: "No need, I just need a place to crash. This one’s fine."

"Alright, then. Rent is paid one month in advance and a deposit for three months. I’ll go get the contract; just have the rent ready, and you can move in!"

The agent was quite pleased, choosing to rent after just one look — what efficiency!

So he happily went to get the contract, while Ling Feng returned to the hotel to fetch his luggage.

On the way to the rental, he couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly. This mission was completely different from the others before, and it felt quite official.

Just unsure if, after some investigation, he could find something valuable; otherwise, it’d be a waste of effort.

Returning to the rental with his luggage, the agent also came with the contract.

Ling Feng pretended to look pained as he paid the thirty-six hundred rent, then got the keys.

"You’re a straightforward guy. If you ever need help, just ask. Oh, and don’t forget what I mentioned about Puxin Temple."

As the agent was leaving, he patted Ling Feng’s shoulder with a smile.

"Sure, I’ll remember."

Ling Feng nodded, watching him leave, then turned to go back when the neighbor came over and asked: "Just graduated, right?"

"Yeah, you’ve got a good eye!" Ling Feng laughed.

"It’s what I do!"

The neighbor was also a young man, extending his hand: "I’m Chen Han, working as an HR in a trading company."

"Oh, hello, Chen. I’m looking for a job myself. Does your company need more people?" Ling Feng quickly shook his hand and asked.

"We do need people, but we’re looking for someone with a background in foreign trade. What did you major in?" Chen Han asked.

"Uh, I majored in history," Ling Feng laughed.

He hadn’t actually gone to college, so he was unfamiliar with professional knowledge. He chose this major when crafting his new identity to avoid suspicion.

Hearing this, Chen Han shook his head and said: "That’s too niche for employment!"

"Isn’t it?"

Ling Feng chuckled and continued: "But no worries, there’s definitely a fitting job out there for me!"

"Exactly, optimism is the way to go!" Chen Han laughed and added, "Now that we’re neighbors, if you ever need help, just ask!"

"Thanks so much!"

Ling Feng nodded and carried his luggage into his room.

He closed the door, turning the room into his personal space. He tossed his things onto the bed and began pondering his next step in job hunting.

Chen Han didn’t show up again, probably busy with something in his room. The other roommate was absent, maybe out or engaged elsewhere.

After all, it’s a day off, and young folks certainly need to stay active.

Ling Feng took out his phone and browsed job listings online, looking for something suitable for him.

After just a few minutes, his phone rang.

Seeing it was Fei’er calling, he answered, "What’s up?"

"Uncle, did you run off to enjoy yourself alone?" Fei’er immediately asked.

"Uh, how’s it enjoying myself? I’m handling business, okay!" Ling Feng chuckled.

"I don’t believe you!"

Fei’er pursed her lips and continued, "You’re definitely out seeking fun!"

"Really, I’m not!" Ling Feng said helplessly.

"Hmph, I still don’t believe you, unless..."

Fei’er paused, and Ling Feng immediately asked: "Unless what?"

"Unless you let me join you!" Fei’er said.

"Join you?"

Ling Feng was stunned, scratching his head, "How do you mean join?"

"Since you’re a fresh graduate, you probably have a girlfriend, right? I’ll play that role!" Fei’er suggested.

"Uh..."

Ling Feng was speechless.

He then reluctantly said: "Could work, but I’ve already rented a place. It’s a single room; it won’t be convenient for you!"

"No worries, we’ll just squeeze in!"

Fei’er giggled and continued: "Come downstairs, I’m already here!"

"Huh?"

Ling Feng was utterly baffled, eyes wide with surprise: "You’re downstairs already? How’d you know I was here?"

Fei’er sighed: "Uncle, you think blending into the crowd means no one can spot you? I asked Gu Li; his folks told me!"

"Really, spying on me?"

Ling Feng rolled his eyes, then said: "Alright, wait up. I’m coming down."

With that, he hung up and opened the door.

The living room was empty, and the place was very quiet, but Chen Han’s door was slightly ajar.

Ling Feng took an unintentional glance and paused!

Within Chen Han’s room, he sat cross-legged on the bed, palms laid flat on his thighs, eyes closed, appearing to be meditating!

"Another disciple, huh?"

Ling Feng mused to himself, then stepped out of the apartment.

From arriving in this city to renting a place, he had only interacted with the hotel owner, the agent, and this roommate.

Among these three, two turned out to be followers of some creed, which was quite a daunting ratio!

Ling Feng went downstairs and outside, and sure enough, he saw a petite figure in blue overalls with a pink top.

Seeing Fei’er’s cute attire, Ling Feng approached: "You little rascal, you clearly acted first and asked later!"

"Hehe, I knew Uncle wouldn’t say no, so here I am!"

Fei’er stuck out her tongue and immediately handed him a small suitcase: "Let’s go, check out our new home!"

With that, she cheerfully headed into the hallway.

Ling Feng followed with the suitcase, returning to the rented apartment. By then, Chen Han’s door was already shut.

Ling Feng didn’t think much of it and led Fei’er into his room: "Take a look, the place is humble, see if you can make do!"

"Of course, no problem! Although it’s small, being with you, Uncle, we can overcome anything!" Fei’er laughed.

Seeing her like this, Ling Feng couldn’t help but swallow.

Just as he was about to embrace her, Fei’er’s palm suddenly emitted a white glow, and another cute little girl suddenly appeared!

Little Li looked around and immediately showed a disdainful expression: "What a shabby place!"
