The Greatest Village Doctor In The World
Chapter 2242 - 2241: Statue
Ling Feng smiled, "Whether it’s easy to find or not depends on how you look for it. This isn’t difficult for me!"
After saying this, he got up and left, teleporting directly to the provincial capital where he rented a place.
The lease hadn’t been terminated yet, and although Hu Jian and He Xue had moved out, Ling Feng wasn’t planning on leaving.
After all, he had paid three months’ rent, so it could still serve as a temporary base.
When he arrived, it was six in the evening, and the house was quiet; Chen Han wasn’t there.
Ling Feng went out, rode his electric bike downstairs, and headed to a place where he had delivered food before.
At the time of the delivery, the customer had been asleep for two days and nights, having just achieved enlightenment, and Ling Feng was keen on connecting with her.
Of course, his purpose wasn’t to find that woman, but to wander around her neighborhood and inquire about the location of the Land Temple!
Once he got there, Ling Feng parked his bike by the roadside and strolled through the alleyways of the urban village.
It was dusk, and every household was preparing dinner, so there weren’t many people on the streets, but Ling Feng soon encountered an elderly man carrying a soy sauce bottle.
Upon asking, the old man quickly told him that the village’s Land Temple was not far ahead, next to a grain and oil store.
Ling Feng thanked him and walked forward.
By now, the streetlights were on, providing good visibility. He walked a few hundred meters and saw the large sign of a grain and oil store.
Upon approaching, Ling Feng immediately spotted a dull grey building adjacent to the store’s wall.
The Land Temple was small, less than a meter tall, covering an area of about one square meter. Its architectural style appeared ancient, but it was unclear from which era.
There was a small incense burner at the temple entrance, with remnants of burned incense inside.
Ling Feng stepped forward and crouched slowly in front of the Land Temple.
Passersby paid him little mind, assuming he was just a curious person exploring something.
Peering inside, Ling Feng’s expression changed!
Usually, these Land Temples housed only the statues of the Earth Deity and the Earth Goddess, just two statues.
But now, he saw there was an additional one!
It was a black statue only about ten centimeters tall. Due to the lighting, it was difficult to see what it depicted, so Ling Feng immediately utilized his Divine Sense.
He then saw a very peculiar statue, human-like but with strange features, having just a single eye.
Ling Feng wondered if the presence of this object was what caused the woman to encounter some kind of God of Light in her dream?
Thinking this, he reached into the Land Temple and pulled out the statue!
Meanwhile, a man’s voice came from behind: "Hey, are you stealing something?"
Turning around, he saw a middle-aged man in his forties, eyeing him warily. Ling Feng quickly stood up, saying, "Of course not, I’m just curious and wanted to have a look!"
"From your accent, you’re not local. If you’re not stealing, what are you doing? You’re still holding it!" the middle-aged man said.
"Was this item something you put in there?" Ling Feng asked.
"No, but this is the Land Temple’s item, and you shouldn’t mess with it, or it may disrupt our village’s feng shui!"
The middle-aged man’s voice was loud, causing passing villagers to stop.
Soon, more than a dozen people had gathered around.
People surrounded Ling Feng in a semicircle. It was apparent that unless he explained himself thoroughly, he wouldn’t be able to leave easily today.
Feeling helpless, Ling Feng showed the statue to everyone: "Has anyone seen this before or knows when it was placed in the Land Temple?"
No one responded.
The middle-aged man said sternly, "Young man, put it back and come with us to the police station!"
Several younger men echoed loudly, threatening that if Ling Feng didn’t go, he wouldn’t escape a beating!
"I can go, but I want to ask if anyone knows when this additional statue appeared in the Land Temple. If someone knows, I’m willing to reward them!" Ling Feng said.
Upon hearing this, the villagers looked at each other and suddenly burst into laughter!
"Kid, who are you? Using such a clumsy trick to fool us, do you think we’re all fools? Today you must head to the police station to explain clearly!" the middle-aged man demanded.
Ling Feng, feeling exasperated, rolled his eyes: "No need to explain, take a look at who I am, and you should understand!"
With that, he removed the disguise from his face, revealing his true identity.
Upon seeing this, the crowd was stunned, and then someone widened their eyes: "You, you’re Ling Feng?"
"It’s me!"
Ling Feng nodded and then asked, "Does anyone still think I’m a thief now?"
At his words, everyone fell silent.
Who didn’t know that Ling Feng’s wealth now exceeded that of the world’s richest person? Could he be here to steal? Impossible!
The villagers eased their vigilance, and the middle-aged man changed his attitude, kindly asking, "Mr. Ling, what brings you to our small place?"
"It’s because of this. I’m investigating something, and I can’t disclose the details. Now can anyone tell me when this statue appeared?" Ling Feng asked.
The villagers exchanged glances, then a young man said, "I came on the first day of the month to offer incense and didn’t see this!"
"Yes, yes, that day I came too; there were only two statues in the Land Temple, I hadn’t seen this!" another person said.
"What’s today’s date?" Ling Feng asked.
Someone told him it was the seventh, and Ling Feng nodded: "Alright, so this thing has only been here for a few days!"
Then he told everyone, "I’ll be taking this with me, and I hope you won’t mind."
If it were anyone else, the villagers wouldn’t agree.
But Ling Feng asked, and people didn’t say a word, merely nodding.
"Thank you, everyone!"
Ling Feng said, flipping his palm to store the statue inside his Space Ring, then stepped away.
Not until Ling Feng had walked some distance did someone murmur, "How did I forget to ask him for an autograph?"
Upon hearing this, everyone else also showed regretful expressions.
Ling Feng headed to where he parked his vehicle, recalling the woman from earlier, unsure of her current condition, so he didn’t rush to leave and first went to her house.
He knocked on the door, but there was no response, as if no one was home.
Turning to leave, after a few steps, he heard the sound of the door opening behind him. When he looked back, it was the woman opening the door.
Last time he saw her, she didn’t seem well, and even now, she still appeared weary, so Ling Feng asked in confusion, "You still haven’t recovered?"
