The Hero is Hunting me!
Chapter 123: The Monster They Feared
Yu-jin and Ha-jin arrived inside the room.
They stopped right in front of Indigo.
"Stop right there!"
Ha-jin shouted as he glared sharply at Indigo.
"Relax, I’m not going anywhere."
Indigo replied casually.
Ha-jin looked extremely serious, his gaze filled with anger.
’He looks really angry at me... What did I even do to him?’
Just as Ha-jin was about to step forward, Yu-jin immediately stopped him.
"Calm yourself, Ha-jin. There’s no point rushing recklessly against this monster... One wrong move and we’re finished."
Yu-jin said to Ha-jin.
Hearing that, Ha-jin abandoned his intention and stayed where he was.
’Monster? Why are they treating me like a monster?’
Yu-jin was visibly sweating.
From Yu-jin’s perspective, Indigo truly looked like a monster.
In her vision, Indigo’s aura was overwhelming. A dense black aura mixed with dark blue surrounded him, enormous beyond reason.
’H-how can a human possess this much power... I’ve seen many incredibly powerful people before, but none of their auras came anywhere close to this...’
Yu-jin trembled.
Ha-jin noticed Yu-jin beginning to shake.
"Yu-jin? What’s wrong with you?"
"N-nothing..."
Yu-jin’s eyes never left Indigo. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
She kept staring at him.
My name is Choi Yu-jin.
I am one of South Korea’s Rank A heroes and one of the nation’s strongest assets.
Back then, I was nothing more than an ordinary high school student studying at Ulsan Public High School.
I was treated like society’s trash there because I was extremely shy. On top of that, my grades were always terrible.
I tried my hardest to get good rankings in school, but no matter what I did, I couldn’t succeed.
Not because I was incapable... but because money ruled everything there.
They used money to buy their rankings.
Whether I wanted to or not, my life was ruined because of that.
But everything changed after I received a strange blessing.
At that time, I was in the bathroom cleaning my clothes after someone poured coffee on them.
A pink light suddenly appeared from both of my hands.
My hair, which used to be black, slowly turned pink.
Every step I took caused flower petals to bloom beautifully around me.
My power was Floral Petal Blade.
Beautiful... yet deadly sharp.
My life changed from that moment onward.
The people who used to mock me suddenly came close to me. They wanted fame from associating themselves with me.
They pretended to be kind in front of me even though I already knew their true personalities.
With my power, I could estimate how strong someone was simply by looking at them. Not only that, I could also sense their true nature.
I was invited into the Hero Association and eventually reached Rank A.
I wanted to climb even higher, but I couldn’t.
There was someone stronger than me.
Lightnova.
Or more precisely... Han Ji-hye.
Her light powers could continue evolving endlessly.
I was jealous, but there was nothing I could do.
I wanted to reach her level, but I didn’t deserve it.
Whether I liked it or not, I had to stay where I was just to survive.
I’ve also met many people with auras similar to Ji-hye’s.
But... this is the first time in my entire twenty-one years of life that I’ve seen a human whose aura feels capable of covering an entire country.
Even the strongest person in the world right now...
Couldn’t compare to his aura.
Indigo... who exactly are you?
Yu-jin’s body trembled even harder.
The moment Indigo took a single step forward—
Yu-jin suddenly panicked.
"HA-JIN! GET READY!"
Ha-jin was startled by Yu-jin’s sudden behavior.
Still, he immediately followed her warning.
Yu-jin crossed both of her arms into an X shape.
Instantly, flower petals bloomed from the floor.
More and more petals spread throughout the room, rapidly covering the entire area.
Ha-jin also prepared himself.
A sword materialized from thin air.
A glowing red sword.
Meanwhile, Indigo merely walked forward calmly.
His footsteps crushed the flower petals scattered across the floor.
Yu-jin trembled more intensely the closer Indigo came toward them.
Every step Indigo took made her body feel increasingly heavy, as if some invisible force was crushing her.
Her pink-colored eyes shook violently.
Her vision slowly became unfocused.
"Yu-jin!"
Ha-jin shouted her name, but Yu-jin only heard his voice echoing from far away.
Her hearing began to fail.
The arms she still held in an X formation started trembling unstably.
"YU-JIN!!"
Ha-jin shouted once more.
But Yu-jin was far too terrified to properly hear him anymore.
By the time Indigo stood directly before them, both of them froze.
Neither of them dared to move.
Yu-jin looked utterly terrified. Her legs shook uncontrollably from fear.
Ha-jin’s mouth hung open in shock after realizing Indigo was already standing right in front of them.
At that critical moment, Indigo slowly raised both of his hands.
Ha-jin and Yu-jin were shocked.
They instinctively shut their eyes, believing Indigo was about to attack them.
Just as all hope seemed lost—
A hand touched both of their shoulders.
Confused, Ha-jin and Yu-jin slowly opened their eyes.
They saw Indigo placing a hand on each of their shoulders.
Then, he gently moved both Yu-jin and Ha-jin to the side.
"Excuse me, you’re blocking my way."
After saying that, Indigo casually walked past the two of them.
Watching Indigo leave, Yu-jin and Ha-jin both released long sighs of relief.
"Hah... What exactly were you doing!? You told me not to act recklessly! But in a situation like that, you didn’t even move at all! If he wanted to, both of us would already be dead!"
Ha-jin shouted angrily at Yu-jin.
"S-sorry... I... I was too scared..."
"Huh? The Yu-jin who’s known as the woman who fears nothing is actually afraid of this one villain?"
"Y-you wouldn’t believe what I saw..."
"...Whatever it was, we’re lucky he had no intention of attacking us and just let us go."
Ha-jin said while wiping the sweat off his forehead.
"Next time... try not to—"
Ha-jin suddenly stopped speaking after seeing Yu-jin cough up blood from her nose and ears.
Yu-jin’s vision became blurry.
Suddenly, blood spilled from her mouth as well.
Her body became unstable, and Ha-jin quickly caught her before she collapsed.
"Hey! Are you alright!? Yu-jin! Yu-jin!"
No matter how many times Ha-jin called her name, Yu-jin couldn’t hear him anymore.
Unable to endure it any longer, she finally lost consciousness.
On Indigo’s side.
Indigo had already teleported back home.
"Phew... That was seriously dangerous. Turns out that saying really is true... never attack when your enemy isn’t attacking. Seriously..."
Indigo—
Or rather, Jinhoo—
Was actually the more frightened one.
