The hivemind is conquering for me? - Chapter 749: Countering The Hive?
Nerissa watched the coiled wrapped Apollo through a crack in the tent. With her current speculation of Apollo possibly being reincarnated, the fact he once again called her a nickname that has direct ties to Albion... Something only two of the gods knew about outside of the Nymphs...
She couldn’t get worked up, not now in an active warzone. Her mind couldn’t race. She needed to be in pristine condition both of mind and body. She decided for now to let it slide and simply chalk it up to coincidence. An Apollo specialty.
She then proceeded to watch for a few more moments as her hands began to feel twitchy due to all the hullabaloo. Right now he was defenceless. Innocent. The urge to boop that snoot of his for making her have so many overlapping thoughts was becoming hard to resist.
But he needed his beauty sleep and she decided now would also be a good time for her to do so as well, although sleeping to her was more optional than it was for humans. Being with Apollo in his home and following routine, she had become accustomed to it.
However, just for a moment, her gaze lingered through the crack. Her hope almost slipped out as she felt her hands coming together. A habit she had not done for thousands of years. The action shocked her to her core and she hastily rushed away.
It was only speculation at this point. Nothing was confirmed. She affirmed to herself.
It was only speculation...
...
Inside my Mindspace I decided to double wrap my existence. Onyx was in her stalker form, a form she had not been using nearly as much as I would like recently, and was holding me tight and I wouldn’t lie, it felt amazing. However, as we lay there, a thought occurred to me.
"Hey, babe?"
"Yes, my universe?"
"What was with the drinking of heart blood? I know you usually eat what you kill, but that seemed odd as you just continued on afterwards." I inquired and Onyx gave my body a quick squeeze, her deep stalker voice sounding amused by my question.
"You asked me to collect biomass samples for your splicing, my universe. That is what I am doing. I cannot eat my prey in front of the other humans, that would look suspicious, no? But I can act as the ’crazy’ lady that enjoys drinking heart blood. That would be seen as more of a quirk. Plus I had planned to consume the rest of the bodies once you left, but I was enjoying hunting down the stragglers too much and by the time I returned to the big bodies, they had already undergone a great deal of decomposition. They decompose faster than the smaller ones."
I nodded my head at what Onyx said, she was right. People would give her looks, but I would wager some people in the military have done worse... Though the talk of Drakoshi and Biomass did bring up another question.
"So, how did the blood compare to the weaker Drakoshi?"
Even in the more emotionally collected stalker form, I felt Onyx grimace before she spoke. "They are still biomass sufficient, but until we see and kill another warlord, I will have no idea why that abomination, Grimshank, was like that... Vile creature."
"And what are your thoughts on the biomass we have obtained so far?" I questioned.
"Stable." She replied instantly. "Very stable. Though with these fresh samples, unlike the stuff Yacob gave, I have gleaned something."
...
...
...
"Oh, were you waiting for me to ask? I thought you were just going to-"
"- I have been able to identify more gene codes and stumbled across something particularly tasty. I have on good belief that the Drakoshi didn’t always look like this and were not always a fully clone species... The only thing I know for certain is that their grey skin is a strong gene trait, so we would have to figure out for you how to remove that if you choose to use their DNA. Or if you are fine with being grey, we can leave it in."
"Hehe, well considering I am still active with my native species, grey skin would catch some eyes. Best we experiment on removing that, if I end up using the stuff. What do you think of the rest of the planet though? Or what we have seen so far?"
Onyx tightened her grasp on me as she expressed delight. "So abundant in Psionic biomass. I can feel it in the ground, in the red trees and plants. Though there is a severe lack of fauna. I could not sense a single being other than humans and Drakoshi the entire time."
I shrugged my shoulders, with difficulty, and replied. "That could just be because of the war? Like they could be elsewhere? Perhaps in a place with more stable gravity?"
"Could be. Though with how long we are supposed to be here, I am sure we will find out- Oh there is an idea!"
"Onyx?" I asked as she suddenly paused.
A moment later her head turned down towards me and spoke. "I had a thought that was not mine, but the will of the hive. Activate your eye imprint five times in quick succession. Jewel will then subconsciously know that where you are is a vital world of Psionic Biomass...
Listening to what she had to say, I did as she asked. It wouldn’t hurt to let her know.
...
Jewel looked through the void of space in the direction of her mate. Feeling his gaze upon her. Her and her limbs began to tremble slightly. She was missing him dearly since he, once again, restricted his far sight after she tried to break through again. It wasn’t her fault her mate was so perfect that she wanted to touch him again! He was so perfect it caused her physical anguish!
Jewel then proceeded to feel his gaze flash in and out five times and she became confused by a thought she had. Her will was making it out like it was code for a Psionically rich world he was in?
Jewel then switched her main self into a Hive ship brain that was closest to Apollo, in the galactic south of his original galaxy. She suddenly felt it a shame. There were millions of star systems between her and that world he was now on. If she had access to the branches in this region of space, she would go and join him in a moment, but she had no way to get there. Without taking massive losses that is.
Still though... She turned her full attention on the world below this body she now possessed. These Clones, these Drakoshi. She was taking her usual losses, but she was also devouring them without issue. They had no resistance to her Psionic agitators, so pop, pop, their elite warriors heads went, which in single minded individuals, often sent their weaker entities into routes.
Now that she had focused up and put her whole attention on this region of space instead of doing it autonomously, she just bit into hundreds of a new wave of reinforcements on a ship she burrowed her way into and after biting thousands more, something strange happened.
Their biomass turned sour? Disgusting. Revolting. Almost nothing in it. Abominations of living biomass. Even robots had more biomass inside of them.
Not wanting to deal with that one ship. She had her wing rippers begin to rip it apart from the outside as their defences were stupidly down and watched as her and her prey were sent into space.
In a few star systems over she suddenly bit into another clone prey with the same property. Same scenario. A single Reinforcement ship had deployed troops onto the planet she was invading and they all tasted weird. Even stranger was that they were resistant to her Agitators. She then took control of one agitator and directed her own will at the nearly thirty foot tall prey and it exploded into a mist of blood.
So they were not immune to Psionics, she then began experimenting further and found a good ratio of power expenditure for her agitators to kill them no problem.
The longer she fought in each system she was hunting, the more of those ships began to turn up. Only as a single or, in some rarer cases, two ships. Jewel wasn’t sure if that was supposed to be prey designed to counteract her need for biomass? But even if they sent an entire armada of those ships, it wouldn’t deter her. She needed to devour entire planets right now, not just meat biomass. She needed so much energy to build her prime a new body that she even needed to consume stars. Which was a tedious process she usually avoided doing.
She simply concluded that the prey were desperate. Trying to think of ways to counter her. It was the nature of prey. Only a few spacefaring species in her millions of years have just rolled over and allowed the hive to devour their entire worlds.
Jewel then turned her attention back towards where Apollo’s imprint had come from and, even though the current body she possessed had no lips anywhere on its body, she pouted.
She wanted to play hunt with her mate again soon. She enjoyed it so much last time.
