The Invincible Strongest Student
Chapter 1054: Green Talisman
"Is there really a technique in this world that can alter fate?" Lin Tian asked curiously.
His "Tyrant Emperor’s Record" contained a vast array of knowledge, yet there was no mention whatsoever of such a fate-altering technique.
"Of course there is, but the number of people in this world who possess it is less than a handful. Xu Dongxu doesn’t have it, and neither does his master," Xu Xianrong replied.
Lin Tian considered it just an amusing story to listen to, he didn’t need any fate-altering technique.
Xu Xianrong took her hands out of her pockets, crossed them over her chest, raised her head, and looked flirtatiously at the sky, asking, "These things you got yourself into, do you have a plan?"
Lin Tian spread his hands and said straightforwardly, "No."
"I knew it."
Lin Tian chuckled awkwardly and said, "Auntie, you’re so astute, you should have a way, right?"
"Stop flattering me. Although I am your elder, I may not be as powerful as you," Xu Xianrong snorted lightly. "I never thought I’d have to clean up after a Golden Core master."
Lin Tian was taken aback. The phrase "clean up after" coming from Xu Xianrong’s cherry-red lips really stirred the imagination.
Seeing Lin Tian’s strange expression, Xu Xianrong frowned, "What, can’t I use the phrase ’clean up after’?"
Lin Tian hurriedly returned to his senses and laughed, "Those words are too vulgar and lose your ethereal charm."
There you go again with the flattery.
"I am just a mundane person. Other than my name, I have nothing to do with the ethereal."
"As beautiful as a celestial, ethereal like a fairy, a fairy descending to the mortal world. It seems you have quite the connection to these descriptions."
"Smooth talker, silver-tongued, cheeky!" Xu Xianrong retorted unapologetically, which made Lin Tian feel quite frustrated. He showered her with compliments, and in return, he got a scolding. Women are indeed enigmatic.
After a bit of playful banter, Lin Tian returned to the main topic, "You and I can’t handle these ghostly beings. It’s fortunate I didn’t cut Xu Dongxu’s throat earlier; now we can only turn to him."
"I agree."
For once, Xu Xianrong concurred with Lin Tian’s view.
Xu Xianrong said, "It’s just past five, and it’s already this dark. After sunset, Xu Dongxu’s master will arrive. We can still have a meal first."
Lin Tian didn’t respond. At dusk, malevolent spirits should be at their strongest.
...
After hastily eating dinner, Lin Tian gave some instructions to Miaoqiu, telling her to keep a close eye on Nao Nao and Xiang Ming to prevent them from running around. They weren’t aware of the situation outside, and who knows what might happen if they got carried away playing.
Miaoqiu stayed with her mother, which reassured Bai Ping even without saying a word.
Faced with a formidable enemy, Xu Xianrong, the aunt responsible for cleaning up after Lin Tian, suddenly vanished, as if she had run away.
Lin Tian didn’t go looking for her; instead, he went to Xu Dongxu’s room, poured a glass of water, took a sip, and then spat it onto Xu Dongxu’s face with a ’whoosh.’
Xu Dongxu lay on the bed without even flinching.
"Still asleep?"
Xu Dongxu had been asleep for a long time, and after taking a Great Rejuvenation Elixir, he should have woken up with a splash of water.
Lin Tian poured the entire glass of water on Xu Dongxu’s face, but the guy was as motionless as a corpse.
Lin Tian raised his hand and slapped Xu Dongxu hard on the face, saying coldly, "If you keep playing dead, I’ll dislocate your jaw!"
Feeling the stinging pain on his face, Xu Dongxu could no longer hold back; he glared angrily at Lin Tian.
"Why stop pretending?" Lin Tian asked with a sneer.
Xu Dongxu took a deep breath, not saying a word, but in his heart, he cursed Lin Tian hundreds of times.
"I have to say, you’re quite the schemer, aren’t you? Tricking me into summoning souls, only to bring forth a bunch of wandering spirits and playing me for a fool. Must have felt quite accomplished, huh?" Lin Tian said sardonically, really wanting to slap Xu Dongxu’s other cheek.
He had never suffered such a setback before.
Hearing this, a slight change appeared on Xu Dongxu’s expressionless face, and he said playfully, "I never thought you’d actually notice."
Lin Tian snorted heavily, not dignifying him with a response.
"But what can you do even if you found out? I just casually recited a soul summoning spell, and those wandering spirits followed as if they saw a lighthouse. When my master arrives, he can easily subdue you, even if you’ve achieved the Golden Core stage, you still won’t be able to tame them."
"Oh, you should know you’re in my hands now. I wonder what makes you laugh," Lin Tian said. "Let your master summon all the ghosts he wants. I bet my blade is faster than his ghosts."
Xu Dongxu pushed himself up against the pillow. "Release me, and I’ll have a way to disperse those wandering spirits."
"Release you? Fine," Lin Tian said with a smile. "But first, bring back my apprentice’s lost soul."
"Give me the antidote first."
"Find the soul first, or there’s nothing to discuss," Lin Tian said uncompromisingly.
Xu Dongxu’s face turned dark, not bothering to argue with Lin Tian, knowing it would be futile.
Suddenly, Lin Tian said, "Oh, by the way, I found a small box on you earlier with a green talisman inside. The talisman paper and cinnabar seem quite special, so I put it away for you. But that talisman doesn’t look like anything good, should I burn it for you?"
Upon hearing this, Xu Dongxu’s face changed dramatically. He hurriedly checked himself and found the item was indeed missing.
Lin Tian was very pleased with Xu Dongxu’s panicked expression, further proving that the green talisman wasn’t an ordinary item.
Xu Dongxu glared, cursing, "Despicable!"
Lin Tian had anticipated his curse, with a smug look on his face, he boasted, "Yes, yes, I’m so despicable, but what can you do about it?"
"... " Xu Dongxu was so angry he almost passed out.
"I know the talismans of the Dao School come in five colors: yellow, blue, purple, silver, and gold. Yellow is the weakest, gold is the strongest, but I’ve never heard of a green talisman, and this one has a chilling aura." Lin Tian paused a bit and asked, "It’s... a ghost talisman, right?" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Seeing Lin Tian was just toying with him, Xu Dongxu didn’t bother to respond, knowing the talisman couldn’t be retrieved, so he decided to rest.
Just then, the previously windless Xu Family was hit by a sudden gust of wind, howling and clattering, knocking over a bunch of items.
Xu Dongxu widened his eyes, suddenly invigorated!
