Chapter 1568: Chapter 1573: The Death of Hui Cong

It seems Master Hui Cong is indeed in grave danger. He nodded, "You can sleep for a while now. When you wake up, it’s best not to speak of what you’ve just said!"

"Understood, understood! Thank you for sparing my life, great hero." The patrolling disciple quickly replied.

After dealing with this disciple, Lin Fei prepared to head to the Sect Leader’s main hall of the Purple Mountain Sect.

However, it was clearly inconvenient to take Xia Xue along, but Lin Fei was also worried about Xia Xue’s safety. In the end, he had no choice but to take Xia Xue with him to the Sect Leader’s main hall of the Purple Mountain Sect.

The quiet main hall was empty. Lin Fei searched around but didn’t find anything special. Just then, he suddenly heard the sound of chains.

Lin Fei moved deeper in, coming to a wall, then quietly listening to the noises inside.

"Clang..."

The sound of water, the sound of chains.

Lin Fei felt this place must be the secret chamber. He searched around and finally found the mechanism on the desk in front of the Sect Leader. He gently pulled it, and sure enough, a door appeared on the side. Lin Fei took Xia Xue inside, discovering that this underground chamber was really vast. The lighting was bright, making the place utterly clear.

This underground chamber was as large as a football field, with columns supporting the ceiling. Judging from the pictorial engravings on the columns, Lin Fei was more convinced that this chamber had existed long ago, perhaps even built as a refuge from disasters.

However, as soon as Lin Fei descended, he saw something unusual in the distance; there was a massive chain in the distance, with someone hanging from it?

Lin Fei immediately turned Xia Xue around, tore a strip from his clothing, and covered Xia Xue’s eyes. He said, "Xia Xue, are you afraid? Don’t worry; I’ll be right here with you."

Seeing Xia Xue’s lack of reaction, Lin Fei knew this was the best response. He could feel Xia Xue gripping his hand tightly. Lin Fei embraced Xia Xue and approached what looked like a person, but no longer resembled one.

"Are you Master Hui Cong?" Lin Fei asked, puzzled.

He looked at the person suspended in mid-air. This person had lost their legs, seemingly broken by something, leaving only shattered bones. The white bones of the arms were visible, along with rancid flesh emitting a foul odor. There wasn’t a piece of cloth covering their body, and the stomach was torn open, with intestines exposed and hanging outside.

On his face, Lin Fei could vaguely recognize a half that resembled Master Hui Cong. The other half of the face was disfigured, with the teeth visible from outside.

Hearing Lin Fei’s voice, the person opened their eyes, yet the eyes were hollow and empty.

"Lin Fei?"

A mental exchange?

"It’s me." Lin Fei knew that among the Ancient Martial Artists, those with great strength could enhance their spiritual power and communicate mentally at close distances.

"Heh, finally someone has come. My wait has not been in vain," Master Hui Cong conveyed through mental transmission.

Lin Fei was puzzled, "You were waiting for me?"

"Not exactly. I was waiting for someone who could make it in here. I didn’t expect it to be you. I failed to see you are a dragon among men back then," Master Hui Cong seemed to be confessing.

"Master Hui Cong, don’t belittle yourself. I’m here to save you now."

"Don’t, please don’t. I don’t want to suffer anymore. If you wish to help me, end my suffering. That beast fed me a drug making it impossible to die, leaving me to be tortured alive like this," Master Hui Cong said.

"Why? Why would he do this to you?" Lin Fei couldn’t understand why Master Hui Cong was being tortured this way.

"Because of the Purple Mountain Seal. He’s always wanted to get the Purple Mountain Seal, then find the other four great seals. Once the Five Mountains Seals are gathered, it will summon a weapon that can make one incredibly powerful!" Master Hui Cong explained.

"What? Is this true?" Lin Fei was dubious.

"Of course. Ancient texts record this event. However, that was during the Qin Dynasty when Qin Shi Huang acquired the Five Mountains Seal and summoned something unknown, which seemed to help him unite the Mo Country lands in the end."

"Damn, that sounds too far-fetched," Lin Fei couldn’t help but think.

"It’s all true. But what will be summoned remains unknown; only the summoner will understand what has been summoned," Master Hui Cong replied.

Lin Fei nodded, "In that case, did you wait for me to give me something?"

"Yes, I hid the Purple Mountain Seal under a pine tree at the foot of the Purple Mountain Sect. I hope you can retrieve it!" Master Hui Cong sighed.

"Why didn’t Master Hui Cong tell this to the Sect Leader of the Purple Mountain Sect?" Lin Fei was puzzled. If he had said something, perhaps he could have avoided suffering.

"Humph! That beast! He poisoned my meals, causing me such harm. Even if I were to die, I wouldn’t let him have his way!" Master Hui Cong answered.

Lin Fei was speechless, never imagining that Master Hui Cong harbored such a large grievance. Yet, it was understandable; after all, it was his own disciple who did this, and anyone would rather die than submit.

Especially considering he was a Master.

"Lin Fei, I hope you can send me off. I can’t go on like this. Leaving in this condition would be humiliating. I, Hui Cong, once had a renowned reputation, never expecting to end up like this. I hope you send me off, please, consider it my plea to you."

Listening to a Master pleading for death, Lin Fei could imagine how excruciating the torment was. Finally, Lin Fei sighed, "Master Hui Cong, fare thee well. I will avenge you."

"Heh, be careful, do your best," Master Hui Cong said, falling silent.

Lin Fei knew this would only continue Hui Cong’s suffering. He extended a hand, a ball of Dead Fire appeared in his hand, then he threw it onto Master Hui Cong, instantly burning him fiercely, extinguishing the last vestiges of resentment. The huge chain clanged, and a pile of ashes scattered. Thus, practice no longer had Master Hui Cong, and a generation of Masters ended in such a bleak manner.

Lin Fei sighed; there were too many things to encounter in life, too many people met along the way. No one knows what will happen the next second, including the moment when the secret chamber door unexpectedly opened, and the Sect Leader of the Purple Mountain Sect, upon seeing Lin Fei, roared in anger, "Scoundrel! Lin Fei, how dare you commit such an utterly heinous act. I..."

But the Sect Leader of the Purple Mountain Sect did not seem to possess high strength. Just as he tried to continue speaking, Lin Fei had already grabbed him, holding him by the neck, laughing, "Kid, you’re quite an actor; should I give you an Oscar?"
