Chapter 578: 577. Believe It Or Not (1)

Reina observed the Yggdrasil’s transparent looking figure that almost seemed to hover before her.

"Why didn’t you stop or earn the Elves against the outsiders who are actually messing things up?" Reina asked.

Yggdrasil’s face seemed to have gone gloomy as she lowered her green lashes.

"I can’t... I’m restricted to..."

"You are communicating with me just fine." Reina pointed out.

"That’s because you’re a Dragon who has come to aid my children. I am not allowed to opening communicate with them."

Reina frowned a little but then she nodded, "All right, I can understand. So, is there a reason why you called me here? Is it to warn me or tell me something?"

The roots around shuddered again and Yggdrasil’s form seemed to ripple a little.

"The vile beings are attempting to pollute everything with dead mana... I request you to stop them before that."

Reina frowned a little, "Would they be using your own dead mana for that?"

Yggdrasil nodded, "Yes..."

"They’re planning to destroy the balance between the Pure and Dead mana." Reina surmised.

"Since the Elves work with two different types of mana, I had made it so that they could live peacefully. But..."

"Don’t worry, I’ll try to fix it." Reina assured her.

The green mist from around seemed to have started to fade and Reina saw the heart thumping.

"Yggdrasil, there are restrictions in Elvenland which detect outsider mana." Reina said, "Can you do something about it?"

Yggdrasil tilted her head slightly to a side and Reina explained.

"I need to use my mana but with the restriction on, if I did I’d be detected, I couldn’t do everything with brute force alone so, if it’s possible..."

The roots and the heart shuddered for a moment as Yggdrasil chuckled.

"You already used your mana and I accepted it... Your mana is already assimilated with me."

Reina was surprised as she heard that, there was no wonder her mana and heart were being influenced so much by this place.

"Because of the storm that I created?" Reina asked to confirm.

Yggdrasil smiled, "Yes."

Reina nodded in understanding, this made things a lot easier for her.

"All right then, this makes the things convenient for me. Is there something else you want to talk to me about?" Reina asked Yggdrasil.

"Just save this place from being destroyed... I shall be grateful to you, Scion of Supreme Aqua Dragon."

Reina smiled, "All right."

The green mist slowly started circling around Reina, she looked around wondering what was happening. Her heart started pounding loudly in her chest as she felt the pure mana from around her influencing her.

[Dragon Bloodline assimilation completed by 88%.]

The sudden notification shocked Reina and before she could ask Yggdrasil’s woman figure had disappeared with the green mist fading. The glow remained on the seed which seemed to beat a little more strongly now.

Reina chuckled and then felt a strange sensation at her back. It felt like the sharp jabbing pain, she tried to endure it but then gasped as the pain grew into blinding agony. It was like her the skin, tissue and muscles from her back were being ripped apart.

Reina gnashed her teeth to keep from screaming and the scent of her blood clogged in her nostrils. She heard the sound of her shirt being ripped and she grunted before she fell on her knees feeling the solid mass growing on her back. She had to hold back a great deal of her strength to keep herself from ripping her coat out as she didn’t want it to be torn apart too. She managed to remove it without tearing it and threw it on the side.

She let out a low whimper, squeezing her eyes shut as she felt something rip out of her back from one side, slowly the other side also ripped and another piece of mass also was free. She felt the heavy masses now lodged onto her back and she could feel it being connected to her skeleton.

Reina’s arms trembled as she felt the skin from her back to her arms tingle and the scent of her blood was strong. A few droplets dripped onto the ground and Yggdrasil’s heart thumped loudly as the blood was absorbed. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

The sound of the wind around being sliced reached her ears and she felt her arms changing shape. She opened her eyes and saw that her arms were transformed into Dragon’s, her fingers were replaced with black claws and the blue scales stood over her skin.

Reina slowly relaxed as she felt her Healing mana repairing her shredded back. She didn’t even have to turn to see what had happened. She had gotten another pair of wings, this time her own wings.

Reina slowly got to her feet, feeling unbalanced as the heavy wings stayed open behind her. She glanced back at her wings and saw a pair of large scaly blue wings protruding from her back. Her shirt was shredded now drenched with blood but her back had healed.

She thought of moving her wings and they moved according to her thoughts. They felt cramped in such a small space and Reina was tempted to give her new wings a flight but she resisted the urge.

A few more drops of Reina’s blood dropped onto the ground and Yggdrasil’s heart seemed to be gaining more and more vitality from it.

Reina sighed wondering how she would retract her wings and her wings slowly withdrew to her back and she felt the bones in her back snapping as the wings retreated.

She grunted a little as it was painful but at least it didn’t require her back to be shredded this time.

"I hope my back doesn’t keep ripping everytime I summon my wings, or I might have to live with Michael’s wings forever." Reina muttered to herself.

Her arms also returned to their normal form, the smooth, long fingers replacing the sharp claws and the scales replaced by flawless ivory skin.

After that, she removed her shirt and plucked out a tunic from the small bag that she had been carrying. She pulled the black tunic over her head and let the strings over her collar stay loose. She then picked her coat, dusted it and wore it over the tunice while stuffing her shirt in the bag.

She ignored the notifications that popped over and then made her way out of the deep hole. Once above the land, the hole filled up on its own and Reina looked back at the Elf palace.

Her first plan of action required her to be there.

"I’ll see you later, Yggdrasil." Reina said before she lifted her hand and touched her right earlobe.

Her body was enveloped in the radiant glow for a moment before it subsided and in the place of a beautiful white haired young woman, now stood an Elf with long pale green hair.

Rheanor made his way down the hill which was formed from the huge roots of Yggdrasil that were above the ground towards the Elf palace.

He activated the invisibility spell to get inside the palace and then walked around until he found the chamber he was looking for.

Rheanor avoided the guards as they might smell the bloody shirt and would get alert. He successfully got inside the chamber and was instantly hit by the scent of rotting flesh and blood along with the medication.

There was a person on the bed who was groaning and moaning in pain and he was the source of the stench. Rheanor walked closer to the person and sensed their mana presence being all messed up. This person was the Elf King, Aelfric.

He lay weakly among the rumpled sheets, the Elf King’s once-commanding presence reduced to something fragile and pained.

His long silver-blonde hair fanned loosely over the pillow, dulled and tangled, clinging to his fever-warmed skin. Pale shoulders and chest were exposed, wrapped in bandages that crossed over deep lacerations along his ribs and collarbone. Faint traces of dried blood marked the edges of the cloth. His breathing was shallow, uneven—each inhale catching, each exhale a soft groan escaping his parted lips. His eyes remained closed, brows drawn tight, as though even unconsciousness could not spare him from the pain. Despite his noble bearing and the subtle, regal lines of his features, he looked unbearably breakable, like a fallen king made of moonlight and wounds.

Aelfric slowly shifted and opened their eyes revealing the beautiful but lifeless looking cyan orbs. They moved around as if trying to look for something and Rheanor sighed internally as he realised that despite being in such a sorry state he had sensed Rheanor.

Rheanor dropped the invisibility spell and the Elf King’s eyes widened as he saw Rheanor standing there.

"Wh-Who are you?" He asked in a hoarse voice attempting to get up but Rheanor placed his hand over his shoulder pushing him back down.

"I’m not here to harm you, on the contrary, I’m here to heal you." Rheanor said.

Aelfric looked alarmed and Rheanor sighed before he placed his hand over Aelfric’s chest casting the Healing spell.

"Your skin was poisoned because of dead mana and a low level curse had ruined the harmony of mana in your body." Rheanor explained making Aelfric’s eyes go wide.

"How do you-" he coughed once before he blinked in surprise.

Rheanor removed his hand from Aelfric’s chest and Aelfric touched his chest. He then glanced at Rheanor and then in a flash he was up on his feet, he grabbed the dagger from the bedside table and stood in a fighting stance.

"Showing a dagger to the one who saved your life? Is that how the Elf King repays favors?" Rheanor asked appearing completely unfazed.

"I haven’t seen you in the palace before, who are you and what motive do you have of coming here?" Aelfric demanded.

Rheanor stood silently watching the Elf, Aelfric seemed to be losing patience.

"I haven’t summoned my guards because you healed me, but that’s all the repayment you get for breaking into my room. Now tell me, why are you here?" Rheanor could see the blazing anger in Aelfric’s eyes and then smiled as he asked.

"Would you believe me if I tell you?"
