The Kingmaker System
Chapter 587 - 586. Plans For Greater Good (3)
Ocean paused for a moment hearing what Davian said and then placed his hands over Davian’s shoulders holding him at an arm’s length and looked him in the eyes.
"What did you say?" He asked.
Davian’s eyes glistened showing the turmoil behind and in a feeble voice he repeated, "Can... one person fall in love with... two people at the same time?"
"Are you," Ocean asked for a confirmation, "in love with someone else other than Reina?"
"... Yes." Davian answered.
Ocean felt a cold void settle in his chest as he slowly let go of Davian’s shoulders, his eyes turning rigid. Somehow he felt as if this wasn’t the Davian that he had known for years.
"Who is it?" He asked.
Davian licked his lips, "I... I didn’t mean to do this to Miss Reina... but I don’t even know how this happened..."
"I don’t want any excuses, Davian. I’m asking who it is?" Ocean spoke in an icy tone.
He had somewhere the possibility of Davian someday backing away from loving Reina but now that it was happening without any prior notice it was shocking, moreover, Ocean felt this bitter aftertaste of betrayal. After listening to him go on and on about how much he liked her and how much her adored her for so long he had easily gone and fallen for someone else.
Davian fidgeted and avoided looking at Ocean’s eyes while Ocean stood there running out of patience.
"Are you going to take all night?" He asked and Davian looked back at him but only managed to keep the eye contact for three seconds before he looked down.
Ocean ran a hand through his head, frustrated enough as he decided to cut the chase.
"Is it Princess Colette?" He asked.
Davian looked up at him and frowned, appearing confused.
"What?"
"You don’t think I haven’t heard about her sending you lavish gifts for days now. Is it her who has snagged your heart now? Because of it is, I am disappointed, Davian."
Davian shook his head about to say something but Ocean continued, "And I am actually glad that you said it before you had confessed to Reina."
"Master, I-" Davian tried to speak but Ocean simply turned too angry to look at his face and those heart melting eyes. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"I am so disappointed that the young one that I had thought so highly of was nothing of what I imagined."
"Master, listen to me first-"
"Listen what?" Ocean asked turning around with his Dragon’s Presence whipping all around the room.
"Listen to how you fell for Colette and hear you making poetries for her this time?"
Davian coughed, holding his chest as the Dragon’s Presence was actively crushing him.
"I knew you liked sharing your thoughts with me but I didn’t know you would dare to come all the way here to tell me about how you had fallen for another woman behind my Reina’s back!"
Davian fell on his knees and Ocean glared down at him mercilessly, "If you weren’t the future Grand Duke I would have shown you hell but I respect your parents and don’t want to kill their only son so, I’ll let you go."
The Dragon’s Presence still didn’t feel like it was causing any less pressure as Davian gritted his teeth and did his best to not be crushed completely.
"But, don’t you dare come around me or Reina again. Because if you do-"
Ocean was still speaking when Davian finally managed to gather all of his strength and let his Aura loose as he shouted.
"I’m not in love with Colette!"
Ocean paused for a moment, Davian breathed heavily as he got to his feet. The sweat drops slid down the sides of his face and he looked at Ocean. His aura fought against the Dragon’s Presence, it was weak but he was pushing against it with ll he had got.
"And I’m not cheating on Reina, I just..." His eyes looked like they were liquidised as he looked at Ocean.
"I don’t even know how I fell for them..." He said and Ocean narrowed his eyes at him.
"Whatever it is, do you really expect me to-"
"Will you," Davian spoke through his teeth, "please listen to me first?"
Ocean frowned a little as he watched Davian walk up to him each step with too much effort as the Dragon’s Presence was still forcing him down.
"I... I had been going back and forth... because of this for a while... But... Her Majesty... Miera... she told me to... man up and confess... she told me to woo both and... decide on which I love and can’t leave..."
"Miri was in on it?" Ocean almost growled.
"I... I only asked for her advice." Davian said.
Ocean watched as Davian stopped right in front of him with his eyes glistening like frozen crystals.
"I don’t know if it is right or not but, I ended up falling in love... I tried to forget but... It wasn’t happening... I’ve never lied or hidden anything from you so... I thought I’d come and tell you so that, you would help me."
Ocean felt the deep ache in his chest and he pulled the Dragon’s Presence from Davian’s body. The sudden loss of pressure made him stumble and he fell forth right into Ocean’s arms. Ocean held his arms while Davian breathed heavily leaning against Ocean.
Ocean had never expected this situation to arrive.
"Tell me who it is," Ocean spoke without losing the cold edge in his voice, "I won’t help you but, I’ll at least listen."
Davian sighed and then straightened up before he looked down at Ocean. Ocean prepared himself for it, he already had a plan formulated as how he would keep Davian away and how he would have to develop a different supportive side for Eric in future but what came out of Davian’s mouth next was something he hadn’t expected.
"It’s... You."
Ocean’s brain came to a screeching stop and he almost made a dumb expression.
"Huh?"
Davian licked his lips and cleared his throat, "I-It’s you."
Ocean blinked wondering if he was hearing it right, this was the second time tonight that he had felt as if this wasn’t Davian.
"Me?" Ocean asked pointing at himself and Davian nodded.
"Are you playing a prank on me, Davian?" Ocean asked and then looked around the room, "Did you and Miri set it up? Miri come out, show’s over. Why don’t I sense her?"
"He-Her Majesty is not here." Davian said and Ocean looked at him.
"I... I was the one who requested her to come with me... this time." He admitted and Ocean closed his eyes and ran his hand over his face.
It was like a bug had found its way in his head, he couldn’t make sense of anything.
"So, you came all the way here to tell me that... you have... fallen in love with me?" Ocean asked.
"... Yes." Davian answered and Ocean was lost.
"Seriously, is this a prank?" Ocean asked again.
"It’s not! I really..." Davian quickly defended himself and Ocean turned his gaze on him.
Davian averted his eyes, his heart picking its pace again and Ocean narrowed his eyes a little. Reina had purposely made Ocean’s form to be so enchanting that he could attract both men and women but to this wasn’t something that she had ever expected.
Ocean took a step closer to Davian and Davian stiffened up, his heart beating louder. It almost felt like something fun as Ocean now stood mere inches from Davian and Davian tried to step back but Ocean grabbed his arm.
Davian averted his eyes and Ocean said, "Look at me."
Davian brought his eyes back at Ocean and Ocean noticed his his pupils were dilated. Ocean almost chuckled as he saw the physical telltale signs of a man being in love right in front of him.
"How... fascinating!" Ocean murmured making Davian close his eyes.
"It’s been hell for me..."
Slowly, Ocean’s brain function was restored and he saw the notifications of his Patrons piling up in the periphery. He knew they must have already had finished a truck full of popcorn over all the drama that was going on.
Ocean noticed Davian’s almost innocent looking expression and asked.
"When did you fall for me?" He asked.
"I... I have always admired and respected you, Master... And even obsessed a little... I wanted to stay by your side all the time but... at that time I never felt like this it was... at the time when I... I saw you sleeping with Sol... I guess."
Ocean cocked his brow, "You mean among all the times you spent with me you didn’t fall for me but it was while I was sleeping that you fell for me?"
Davian shook his head, "I... don’t know how it happened I just... I saw your sleeping face and I..."
"And you found it so beautiful that you fell in love?" Ocean almost asked in a teasing tone, he was now having fun watching Davian’s blushing face.
Whatever it was, Ocean felt a sadistic streak of teasing him further.
"That’s not it!" Davian said and Ocean suppressed his laughter.
"Then what?"
"I saw Miss Re-Reina’s face coinciding with yours."
Ocean stopped cold hearing that, "What?"
"I don’t know how it was but... it has been like that... whenever I think of both of you, you seem alike..."
"So... because both of us seem alike you fell in love with me?" Ocean asked and Davian shook his head.
"I think I’ve always... had feelings for you, Master... It’s just... I always thought they were about respect and admiration but..."
"You do realise what you’re saying, right Davian? You are saying that I am Reina’s love rival... And I’m a man." Ocean pointed out and Davian ran a hand through his hair.
"That’s what I’ve been agonizing over but... I also couldn’t get rid of these feelings that’s why I came to tell you all of it so that... you could help me."
Ocean watched Davian’s pleading eyes and all he could see was sincerity and emotions.
Ocean sighed, wondering what he would do now that the was involved in such a complicated love triangle.
