The Lady's Butler: I Reincarnated To Serve The Villainess
Chapter 115: Her Attempt At Teasing
Adrian’s eyes slowly opened and the first thing he noticed was the fact that he was laying on Renelle’s bed.
The events of last night suddenly started coming back, starting from his fight with the bull-like beasts to him teleporting here and falling asleep on his Lady’s lap.
A smile appeared on his face as he recalled that, though, as her butler, he wasn’t trained to make a habit of sleeping whilst your master took care of you.
But it wasn’t as if he had been following his training when flirting with his lady either, so one more ignored rule should be fine.
Slowly, he looked down as he realized that something was wrapped around him, only to notice a head full of white hair.
His lady.
She had her head comfortably on his chest with both arms wrapped around him and she was blissfully asleep.
Careful not to wake her, he shifted his head slightly, just enough to get a better look at her face.
Her expression was peaceful, far more than he had ever seen it.
A smile appeared on his lips as he continued looking at her, wishing that time would just stop in this very moment, allowing him to experience it for eternity.
Adrian then looked at his arm that was previously in a cast and noticed that it healed.
Well, not completely, but it had healed just enough to allow him to freely move it. Still, it seemed Renelle was being careful not to hurt it, even in her sleep.
He used his right hand and gently started patting her head, completely satisfied at the moment.
If things could remain like, he’d be very much satisfied.
Unfortunately though, time had to keep moving and Renelle soon stirred in her sleep, before immediately freezing.
"Good morning, my Lady," Adrian greeted, noticing that she was awake, "it seems you took advantage of my sleeping self last night, not that I mind."
Renelle remained frozen, her eyes tightly shut, but she was very much awake, and there was an obvious blush on her face.
She didn’t know when, but the last thing she recalled was putting Adrian’s head comfortably on the bed and laying beside him just to continue looking at his face.
Though, she did plan to move to the far end of the bed, it seems she had ended up falling asleep and wrapping herself around her buer.
Which was very embarrassing.
But then, she recalled that she didn’t have to be embarrassed, not in front of him anyway. After all, he was someone that knew and accepted everything about her.
Still, it seems her butler liked seeing her flustered, so why not give him a taste of his own medicine.
Renelle suddenly rolled, placing herself above him as she slowly opened her eyes only to witness his grinning face.
She did not think this through.
But it was too late to back down now, so she just went with the flow.
"Is that so?" She muttered before bringing her face a bit closer to his, "then you also wouldn’t mind me taking advantage of you whilst you’re awake, would you?"
"Of course not," Adrian responded without much thought, "I’d be honored if my lady doesn’t."
Renelle being this close caused his sense of smell to be assaulted by the scent of strawberries.
Not that he minded.
In fact, he would’ve preferred if she was closer, a lot more closer than she was right now.
Renelle paused at his reply, this was obviously not working, but she intended to see his flustered expression, so she brought her face closer.
"Are you sure?" She was so close that he could feel her breath against his lips.
This finally got a reaction out of him, as he also froze, but it wasn’t because he was embarrassed, far from it actually.
"My lady," he said quietly, his voice lower than before, "you’re playing a very dangerous game."
Renelle’s heart skipped as she heard the way he now sounded, she knew exactly why and what effect she had on him.
But instead of stopping,
"Am I?" she replied, refusing to back down.
"If my Lady proceeds any further, then I’m afraid it’ll be hard for me to control myself," he warned, looking directly into her eyes.
"So?" he asked, almost teasing now. "Will my lady proceed?"
There was silence between the two for a while, as Renelle contemplated continuing, since she hadn’t gotten the reaction she wanted just yet.
But his current reaction was a lot more intense and she was certain that there would be no stopping this obsessed idiot once they started.
"You win," she finally muttered, turning her head slightly to the side to hide her expression.
Adrian chuckled quietly beneath her as he said, "I don’t recall this being a competition, my lady."
"Well, it was."
"And the prize?"
She glanced back at him briefly before answering, "you don’t get one."
"How unfortunate."
Renelle finally got off him before saying, "let’s head outside."
"As you wish, my lady."
***
Outside the tent, Cassian was in good moods despite barely getting sleep.
If he got any at all.
"It seems the butler has no intention of returning just yet," he said to Darius who was busy with the left over meat cutlets.
Darius looked at him for a second before looking towards the entrance of the cave and then shrugging.
"I’m sure he’s fine," he started, "he’s probably searching for something strong enough to fight."
Cassian nodded, but deep within, he was grinning.
Given that damn Butler’s personality he’d have already returned before morning came, since he would want to be by ’his lady’s ’ side before she woke up.
Since he hadn’t returned just yet, something definitely happened to him. Still, he wanted to keep the illusion of a good leader, he muttered,
"We’ll start searching for him after Lady Renelle wakes up."
But before Darius could say anything, another voice suddenly spoke up, "that won’t be necessary."
Turning towards the direction of the voice, both Cassian and Darius noticed Renelle walking out of her tent, looking perfectly rested, though there was a faint blush on her cheeks.
The most surprising part was the person that walked out just after her.
Adrian.
He had a small smile on his face as he adjusted his glasses slightly, only for the smile to get wider the moment his eyes locked with Cassian’s.
"I see you returned safely," Cassian said with a neutral tone, "though I wonder what a servant would be doing in their master’s resting area."
"Serving her of course," Adrian responded with a smile.
It seemed he had developed a new bad habit of annoying Cassian, but it wasn’t as if he was the one that started it.
They’d be completely fine if Cassian simply stopped looking at his Renelle and minded his own business.
"..." Cassian said nothing in response, but his annoyance did grow quite a bit as he turned away.
"Since this is officially our first day here, let’s establish some rules of operation."
