The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse
Chapter 1489: Jade Ant Queen’s Rebirth (2)
Klaus, Rory, Omen, Slate, Echo, Princess Evren, and her team stood atop a small mountain, overlooking the valley where a 3-foot golden egg hovered just a few meters off the ground.
The aura around the egg seemed to give off a feeling of attraction as well as power. Perhaps because of this presence, many were drawn toward it.
Standing not too far from where Klaus and his team were most of the surviving humans who survived the massacre of the Beasts, both on the outside and inside the Jade Vault.
Their focus is on the egg.
Not far from them, too, thousands of beasts stood, staring daggers at the egg. Leading them are the four beast gods. Klaus was a bit stunned when they arrived with this many beasts.
Of course, he expected something of the sort, but he never expected them to pull this many calamity beasts to their side.
Naturally, not all beasts followed them. Klaus could also count 9 demigod beasts on the scene; behind them, thousands of beasts stood, ready to charge into battle.
On the other side, the corrupted warriors also stood with crazed eyes and an aura that reeked of danger. Two demigods, whose true power he couldn’t measure, stood before them, their gaze locked on the egg.
Klaus was shocked when he found out that, though they are corrupted, they could still converse in a sound tone. This, of course, made them a danger, but also a bit civil, provided the right agreement could be reached.
Of course, he knew it would be hard to reach them in a civil manner, but he didn’t care for that just yet, not when the main dangers stood directly opposite them.
On one side, he counted four assassin teams, each with five members. Their focus was locked on Klaus and Princess Evren.
Klaus had no idea why they were looking at them like that; however, he recognized one of them. This made him conclude that they were not friendly.
But they can wait, because the main danger comes from the side where 5 gods and 24 demigods stood before an army of 10,000 warriors.
They don’t look friendly, and most importantly, they all seemed to have their eyes on Klaus, his team, the humans, and the beasts.
This made him smile faintly, knowing the rescue mission is at the point where he can only place the impossible tag on it. He can’t easily handle it, so he needed help.
Against demigods, he can manage, but gods are where he draws the line.
But since he can’t handle them, he knew he had to ask for help. And to do that, he must ensure that these five gods and 24 demigods become everyone’s enemies.
Thankfully, he has the right skill set to accomplish that.
’Icon, activate that skill,’ Klaus said, his expression calm, though one could tell he was about to do something reckless.
[I have activated the skill, master. You are good to go.]
Klaus took a step forward, and his voice spread across the entire valley and beyond.
"Good day, everyone. I go by the Renegade Hunter; however, you all can call me Klaus for convenience’s sake." He regarded the four god beasts before scanning the others. He stopped at the five gods from the Qilin Mercenary Legion.
"I don’t suppose I have met these seniors before,"
Klaus expected them to arrogantly shut him down and say he wasn’t qualified to know about them. However, to his shock, one of the True Gods, Eric, smiled at him.
"I have heard about you, boy. However, I never expected to see you here." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Klaus smiled. "You know, where there is treasure, I ought to go there. That said, I wonder why this senior is here, though," Klaus feigned ignorance, pretending he did not see the egg that everyone was eyeing.
Everyone present there wanted their hands on the egg, and so it was only natural for the Qilin Mercenary Legion to also be after it.
To his absolute shock, however, True God Eric shook his head.
"Honestly, knowing you are here makes me super happy, kid. Do you want to know why?"
Klaus nodded. "Making a god happy with my presence is, of course, intriguing, so I want to know."
True God Eric smiled and tapped his watch, projecting a bounty. On it, Klaus’s image appeared with 100 million GC (God Coins). That is 10 billion Universe Coins (UC).
"There is a large bounty on your head, and aside from that, the one who hired us also wants your head along with the head of every last human present here." He paused and turned to the corrupted warriors. "Both sane and corrupted, and all sentient beasts."
He laughed and turned to Klaus. "You can say I am here to have fun, kid, so don’t struggle. It will be over soon enough."
Klaus said nothing for a minute before he smiled faintly. "I see. I suppose you are the main enemy here. You want to kill all of us because you were hired to."
He turned and looked at the four god beasts. "I believe these seniors have already heard what he said and know what must be done."
To the shock of True God Eric and his teammates, the four god beasts nodded.
"This is our home, human, so of course we will not sit idly and let just anyone attack us. That said, it would be ideal if you and your fellow humans don’t interfere. We might just mistake you for the enemy."
Klaus nodded and turned to the humans who were already panicking. This sight made him smile faintly...
"I came here for this egg, so it would be best if none of you cross me. I might not kill you, but I can cripple you. That said, the portals leading out of here have been sealed, so until the battle is over, you can either rally behind me and ensure we live to tell the tale tomorrow, or die trying."
Klaus pointed at the 1,200 corrupted warriors and added:
"They are our enemy, so those who want to fight should fight. Those who want to run should do so too. After all, survival is everything."
Standing opposite him, one of the assassins in a green mask unsheathed his dagger and vanished into a shadow.
Those standing beside him, if they had paid close attention, would have realized a smirk appeared on Klaus’s face the moment the green-masked assassin vanished.
However, they were more focused on what he said, failing to realize that the start of the battle would be determined by the blood of an arrogant assassin who thought he had everything figured out.
Klaus turned and looked back at True God Eric, flashing him a teasing smile. "It appears you are fucked, Mr. I will advise you to live first before thinking about reaping a bounty."
"I am afriad I can’t do that," he grinned, unleashing a trace of his power.
Klaus smirked, "Then happy dying, you are going to make a fine Undead."
Just when he said that, his hand struck back with deadly force, Bloodwork appearing in his firm grip mid-motion.
To everyone’s shock, the empty air behind Klaus was severed, and the red, razor-sharp, pointed blade of the scythe stabbed into the green-masked assassin’s head, killing him in an instant.
Klaus pulled him from nothingness and held him loosely, his body dangling like a doll off his scythe (Bloodwork).
"I suppose that is the start of chaos."
In the distance, all 19 remaining assassins retrieved their weapons and lunged at Klaus.
He grinned and winked at True God Eric before vanishing into the void. The next moment that he appeared, his scythe was mere inches from the neck of one of the assassins.
Rory and her friends joined in, and before long, Princess Evren and her team moved as well.
Lady Beyhos and Kaz moved, their targets: the two trie gods of the Qilin Mercenary Legion.
