The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast
Chapter 1595: Guaranteed to Complete the Mission
Little Taotie followed Mo Haihao to an abandoned factory, where there were numerous pipes of various sizes, some resembling chimneys, others test tubes.
Little Taotie was brought to a heavy iron door, with rusty railings on which strange insects crawled, resembling caterpillars, but with colors close to iron.
Passing the iron door, a deserted laboratory could be seen, with sealed bottles and jars on the tables, their seals buried under a thick layer of white hairy dust.
The pipes in the laboratory were presumably exhaust and drainage pipes, and Little Taotie was to squeeze into an exhaust pipe.
It was like a kitchen hood pipe, somewhat thick.
"Can you get in?" Mo Haihao scrutinized the environment, slightly wanting to back out; as long as Little Taotie mentioned the pipe was too small, he’d have a valid reason to immediately retreat and take the child away.
Little Taotie craned her neck, squinting one eye as she peered inside.
She noticed the captain winking at her, understanding his intent for her to back out.
Little Taotie pursed her lips; it was rare for a task to come her way, and if missed, it would be difficult for another to be assigned to her.
When Hua Jinyan was called to tasks, she felt immensely envious and eagerly awaited the day she’d have the capability to be summoned for tasks.
Little Taotie avoided Mo Haihao’s gaze, her soft childish voice declaring, "I can fit in."
Mo Haihao grew anxious; had he known how filthy the environment was, he wouldn’t have brought the child here, feeling utterly deceived.
Mo Haihao wore a stern expression: "It’s very deep inside, and no one knows if it’s dangerous. Can’t you lure the Ghost out?"
Leading the way were several white coats, seemingly researchers.
They exchanged glances, also somewhat apologetic.
Some among them didn’t even believe in the existence of the Ghost, and had the organization not instructed them to accompany members of the Special Department here, they wouldn’t have bothered with Ghost-related research.
"Sorry, we’re not quite sure of the specifics either. The organization has sent masters over, who deemed it difficult to summon, hence the need for experts from the Special Department..."
Mo Haihao paused in silence, looking at Little Taotie: "Are you sure you want to go in?"
Little Taotie nodded: "It’s rare to have a task..." She clasped her fingers together: "I want to complete it."
Mo Haihao’s brows remained furrowed, until a gentle elder sister approached, handing Little Taotie a raincoat-like outfit, "It’s dirty inside, this is a protective suit."
The gentle white coat cast a glance at Mo Haihao: "I understand Captain Mo’s concerns. Rest assured, wearing this suit, even poisonous gases inside won’t harm her."
The preparations were indeed thorough.
Mo Haihao’s expression didn’t lighten up.
No matter how thorough, it was still risky.
"Captain, I can do it!" Little Taotie swiftly changed into the outfit.
Mo Haihao: "..."
"Please trust me!" Little Taotie stood straight, through the transparent eyepiece in her hood, her determination showed with a glint of stubbornness.
Mo Haihao sighed, waved his hand, too lazy to speak.
The little girl was too headstrong, too stubborn.
Little Taotie bounced in place, smiling brightly, "Captain, I’m heading out! I assure task completion!"
Mo Haihao grumbled: "Safety is paramount, if anything’s off, run back immediately, don’t rush forward like a fool."
"Understood!" Little Taotie saluted without a hint of hesitation, diving headfirst into the pipe.
