The Mad King's Heir
Chapter 86: I am sorry
This wasn’t the initial plan. He had discussed an approach with his mum about how he could establish contact with him. But when he saw Li Jun with that... creep, he felt like his heart was being ripped out of his chest.
That bitch even dared to seduce Li Jun with his erotic dance. He would never let that happen. He impulsively shut their lights off and triggered the emergency protocol, shutting down the party immediately.
He could have kept it at that, but he couldn’t stop thinking about him. He wanted to see him. The man was within arm’s reach. He just had to see him, so he made this dumb decision. He looked up at Li Jun, whose face was partially obscured in the shadows. His features were different, but he could recognize those eyes easily.
Li Jun pulled his hair back in frustration. His gut feeling was spot on. It wasn’t Dane watching him. It had been Yu Wen all along. He was the only one in this world who could give him that intense feeling like he was being stared at by a beast on the prowl.
He decided to play dumb. He didn’t look like himself or sound like himself, so why not play stupid? "There is no Li Jun here. Now get lost before I call security on you," he said as he turned to open the door. He just wanted to get out of this suffocating atmosphere so he could think straight.
Just as he opened a gap, the door was slammed shut with a loud bang, and Yu Wen stood behind him. He embraced him, wrapping his arms around Li Jun’s waist tightly. He rested his chin on Li Jun’s shoulder. He wanted to tell him everything. He wanted to say it the way he had rehearsed countless times, but he couldn’t think straight.
He just wanted to hold him like this and take in his scent and soothe his yearning heart. He just wanted him. He crossed his fingers, hoping, just hoping that Li Jun would let them stay like this for a while longer. He wanted this moment to last for eternity.
But this was only wishful thinking on his part. Li Jun pushed him off and said, "Get the fuck away from me."
Yu Wen held him tighter and whispered, "Hear me out... please."
Li Jun gritted his teeth. He knew if he didn’t hear him out, Yu Wen would keep doing this. They will keep playing this cat and mouse game until the very end. As obsessed as Yu Wen was when he hated him, that’s how he would be with this matter.
"You have two minutes," he said, and Yu Wen’s Adam’s apple rolled his gaze fixed at the back of Li Jun’s neck. He wanted to see his face, his real face, when he told him how he felt, but Li Jun wouldn’t even look at him.
"I am sorry. I am so sorry about everything," Yu Wen whispered. "I was wrong... I should never have done all that to you. I..." He didn’t know what else to say except that he was sorry.
"You have a minute left...," Li Jun said, but Yu Wen didn’t speak for a long time. He clenched his jaw before saying, "Are you done?" He didn’t wait for him to answer before shoving him away and turning around.
"Now that you have said what you need to say, you can leave," he said, but he didn’t move away from the door.
Yu Wen, afraid that this would be his only chance, said, "Li Jun, I... I was grieving my father, but instead of dealing with my emotions... I needed someone to blame. I am so sorry."
He looked so pitiful and sad, which wasn’t the Yu Wen he knew. It was unsettling. Li Jun would rather have him be cold and arrogant, not this. Unable to stand it anymore, he asked, "Is that all you want to say to me?"
Yu Wen wanted to tell him that he loved him, but the anger in Li Jun’s eyes made him unable to open his mouth. He couldn’t handle having both his apology unaccepted and his confession being ruthlessly denied. "I... I have more to say. It’s just that I know you are upset with me and I just-"
"Tonight, was it you?" Li Jun cut him off. The lights, the sprinklers... it couldn’t be a coincidence, right?
Yu Wen didn’t expect him to ask that. For a second, he was dumbstruck. He asked, "Huh?"
"Was it you, and don’t fucking lie to me." Li Jun didn’t even know why he was asking this. He just wanted to know.
Yu Wen seemed to realize that if he didn’t answer, Li Jun wouldn’t speak to him ever again. "It was me. I just couldn’t stand the way he was looking at you. I was..." He couldn’t bring himself to say it. He was dying of jealousy, and for a moment, he thought Li Jun would take interest in that flashy peacock.
He thought Li Jun would explode and call him all sorts of names. Li Jun did explode. He flipped them over and slammed him hard on the door. Before he could register what was happening, Li Jun kissed him hard on the lips.
Yu Wen’s eyes widened. He cupped Li Jun’s face and deepened the kiss. The two of them exchanged a heated and passionate kiss, the sound of their lips smacking together filling the room.
Li Jun let him go and slapped him across the face, his chest heaving. Yu Wen, who was still in seventh heaven, was taken by surprise again. He accidentally bit his lip, and the taste of blood spread across his tongue.
"That’s for the pain and suffering you caused me all those fucking years..." yelled Li Jun before swallowing his Adam’s apple bobbing. He had to be ruthless. He had to be heartless otherwise, everything would go to shit.
"Get lost," he said, and Yu Wen met his gaze, the reluctance in his eyes intense. His finger, which was wiping away the blood on his lips, trembled. He was scared. He was so scared that Li Jun would never want to see him again.
He took a step forward and grabbed Li Jun’s hand, placing it on his throbbing cheek. His eyes bloodshot, he said, "Hit me. You can hit me all you want. Just don’t... just don’t throw me away, please."
Li Jun felt like his heart was being torn to pieces, but Yu Wen was the last person he should be involved with. He took his hand back and opened the door. "Go... I never want to see you again." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
After that, he didn’t recall what happened next. He just found himself sitting on the bed in a daze for over an hour.
