Chapter 166: Chapter 166: Tactical Retreat

The heavy scent of cordite and copper hung thick in the air as Marcus moved swiftly, using a heavy pair of tactical shears to cut the plastic zip-ties binding the wrists of the two other young women. They collapsed into each other’s arms, sobbing quietly but moving as fast as their trembling legs could carry them.

"Marcus, take those two girls and escort them directly to the Hellcat," stated Alexander, his voice deep and unyielding behind the polymer ballistic mask. "I will handle my cousin personally. The other two cannot under any circumstances discover my identity."

Marcus nodded once, his massive frame shifting as he gathered the two terrified teenagers. "Copy that, boss. I’ll get them loaded into the back. You might want to calm your cousin down a bit, though. If you just sling her over your shoulder looking like that, she’s going to think she’s being abducted all over again."

"She will manage," stated Alexander, his dark visor turning toward his cousin.

He stepped over the groaning, bleeding forms of the two kidnappers, his hands moving efficiently as he grabbed the two heavy, black nylon duffel bags stuffed with the extortion cash. He tossed them toward the doorway.

Marcus caught them with one hand, but as he dragged them out into the main corridor, his boot kicked against a loose, false panel lining the lower half of the server racks. The wood splintered away, revealing three massive, reinforced plastic transport cases hidden deep within the structural foundations of the wall.

"Alex, hold up," stated Marcus, his voice lowering through the tactical comms as he pried open the top of the first case with his combat knife. "Looks like those two pieces of shit on the floor were lying through their teeth about the scale of this operation. Look at this."

Alexander stepped into the hallway, his rifle still swept outward to cover the blind spots. Inside the plastic cases were neat, vacuum-sealed bricks of high-denomination currency, organized with financial precision.

"They weren’t just running a localized, opportunistic school scam," stated Alexander, his analytical mind instantly recalibrating the data. "This is a centralized clearing hub for regional wire fraud."

In the far distance, the faint, high-pitched wail of police sirens began to echo through the industrial district, growing louder by the second as local law enforcement responded to the reports of heavy automatic gunfire.

"Sirens," stated Marcus, his jaw tightening beneath his mask as he grabbed two more bags from the floor and began stuffing the vacuum-sealed bricks inside. "Sounds like we’re going to have to leave a portion of the inventory behind if we want to beat the perimeter lockdown. But there’s easily a cool million in cash right here in these primary bags. Those bastards on the floor are going to have a hell of a time explaining the missing cut to whoever owns this supply chain."

"A million is a million," stated Alexander, his hand firmly gripping his cousin’s upper arm, pulling her smoothly to her feet despite her weak, frantic resistance. "Let’s move out, old man. Our window is closing."

Marcus aggressively guided the two terrified teenagers down the narrow concrete steps toward the rear alleyway, his heavy tactical boots clicking sharply against the gravel. The girls were moving in a state of hysteria, clinging to each other’s clothes as they saw the blood-red Dodge Hellcat idling in the darkness.

Amy was running right behind them, but the moment they cleared the exit frame, Alexander’s iron grip tightened on her upper arm, physically separating her from the group. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"Wait! No! Let go of me!" screamed Amy, her voice hitting a panicked, high-pitched register as she desperately tried to twist her body away from the terrifying, faceless operator. "Let me go! Help!!"

The other two girls spun around near the open door of the Hellcat, their faces instantly turning pale with pure horror as they saw the taller, more imposing masked man dragging their friend toward the matte-black Shelby GT500 parked several yards away.

"Amy! No! Stop!" screamed one of the friends, her hands trembling violently as she took a step back toward the hallway. "We have to stay together! Why are you taking her?! Leave her alone!"

Amy fought with every ounce of strength she possessed, digging her heels into the dirt and frantically scratching at the heavy ballistic fabric of Alexander’s tactical vest. Alexander didn’t flinch, unaffected by her resistance. Moving with efficiency, he popped the passenger door of the Shelby, forced her smoothly inside the low-slung bucket seat, and pulled the reinforced seatbelt across her chest, clicking it into place before she could even hit the door handle.

"Shut the door and stay down," stated Alexander, his deep, synthesized voice booming authoritatively through the mask.

Marcus slammed the heavy trunk of the Hellcat shut, the cash bags settling inside with a heavy thud. He turned his masked frame toward the two lingering, screaming teenagers, his short-barreled shotgun held firmly across his chest as the distant sirens grew deafeningly loud.

"Do you two want to get out of this neighborhood alive, or do you want to stay here and wait for the rest of the crew to come back and lock you in that cellar again?" asked Marcus, his voice a gravelly, terrifying rumble that instantly cut through their screams. "Get inside the vehicle right now."

The two girls instantly went dead silent, their mouths shutting tight as pure survival instinct took over. They scrambled into the leather backseat of the Hellcat, pulling the doors shut with a violent click.

The supercharged engines of both high-performance vehicles roared to life simultaneously, drowning out the approaching sirens.

Alexander shifted the Shelby into third gear, the car sliding perfectly through the tight curve of the industrial avenue as the blue and red police lights flashed harmlessly two blocks behind him. He reached up with his gloved left hand, tapping the side of his helmet to open the direct frequency.

"I will see you later tonight outside the perimeter," stated Alexander, his deep voice carrying zero emotion as he cut the feed, leaving his terrified cousin staring at his faceless mask in the screaming silence of the cockpit.
