Chapter 62: Chapter 62: The wife care

Alexander walked down to the secure underground parking structure with a light remarkably relaxed stride feeling completely unburdened.

He slid smoothly into the driver’s seat of the metallic-gray Mercedes adjusting the rearview mirror with a calm smile.

Just as he was about to shift the vehicle into drive the heavy security door of the garage flew open.

Elena came running toward the car her heels clicking rapidly against the concrete as she clutched a small black velvet bag tightly in her hand.

Alexander rolled down the window as she reached the driver’s side panting slightly from the sprint.

"Master I thought you might need this" said Elena handing the black bag through the open window "You forgot it resting on the side table."

Alexander opened the drawstring and peered inside.

It was his tactical 9mm handgun fully loaded and ready.

A wave of appreciation washed over him as with the Sinclair network still lingering in the shadows walking out into the city completely unarmed would have been a massive mistake.

"Thank you Elena" said Alexander looking up at her with a soft smile "I appreciate it."

"Have a beautiful day Master" replied Elena.

Before he could pull away she leaned down through the open window pressing her lips firmly against his in a sweet lingering kiss.

Alexander sat entirely frozen for a second as she pulled back a faint flush on her cheeks.

He watched her turn around and jog back toward the elevators a strange conflicted feeling settling deep in his chest.

He genuinely didn’t know if she was doing all of this because she truly felt a connection toward him or if acting like a devoted perfect companion was simply a mandatory part of her corporate job description within the hotel’s elite support staff.

But as he started the engine and the Mercedes purred to life Alexander realized it didn’t really matter.

Amidst the absolute madness the explosions and the constant psychological warfare of his new life having someone look out for him like a loving wife felt incredibly good.

Alexander navigated the sleek Mercedes E-Class into the university parking lot smoothly taking a spot near the front row.

As he stepped out of the vehicle the sharp luxury aesthetic of the car combined with his newly refined physique instantly drew a wave of attention from groups of passing students.

Several girls smiled at him their eyes lingering.

Alexander casually returned their gaze with a calm confident look causing a few of them to instantly blush and look away with nervous giggles.

A moment later the loud throaty roar of a high-performance engine echoed across the asphalt as a pristine brand-new Corvette tore into the lot.

Marcus parked it perfectly in the adjacent space killed the engine and stepped out with a massive arrogant grin.

"Look at us" said Marcus gesturing between the two luxury vehicles with a loud laugh "We both showed up sporting brand-new rides today.

What a beautiful pair of cars.

Do you want to go cut loose and race them for a bit?"

Alexander grabbed his leather bag from the passenger seat "I have classes" said Alexander shutting his door "I’m not like you."

Marcus rolled his eyes leaning casually against the hood of his Corvette "What a strange guy you are" muttered Marcus shaking his head "Just drop the accounting degree already.

Who the hell wants to manage other people’s finances when your own personal bank accounts are already this massive?"

"I am not going to leave what I started halfway through" replied Alexander his tone completely firm "So yes I have classes."

Marcus smirked falling into step beside him as they walked toward the main campus building "Who do you have today anyway?

Is it that gorgeous Professor Isabella?"

"No" said Alexander scanning his schedule on his phone "Today it’s Professor Angus.

I have applied statistics."

Marcus visibly winced rubbing the back of his neck "What a massive headache man" muttered Marcus with a groan "Well have fun with that.

If you need anything I’ll just be hanging around walking the area."

Alexander glanced sideways at him a knowing smirk on his face "By walking you mean fucking."

Marcus burst into a delighted laugh giving a playful shrug "Walking fucking?

Come on is there really a difference?"

"Have fun" said Alexander giving Marcus a brief nod before turning toward the academic buildings.

He walked down the long crowded corridors his mind shifting away from the high-stakes world of TMC and back into the mundane routine of a university student.

When he fully reached his classroom he pushed the heavy door open and found the large lecture hall surprisingly empty save for one person.

Sophie was walking down the rows of empty desks carefully placing a printed document on each individual seat.

Alexander walked down the steps toward his usual spot watching her work.

As he approached his desk he picked up the paper she had just laid down examining it closely.

It was a brightly colored pamphlet advertising an upcoming university festival.

At the bottom of each sheet a detailed questionnaire was attached.

According to the text every single classroom was required to organize a themed booth and actively participate in the festival’s entertainment events.

The administration expected at least three distinct performance numbers per classroom and the survey was designed to gather votes from the students on what activities themes and roles they wanted to take on for the event.

Sophie looked up at the sound of his footsteps her eyes brightening instantly as she noticed him "Oh hi Alex!" said Sophie pausing with a stack of papers clutched to her chest.

Alexander maintained his composed distant stance fully leaning into his Stoic Outsider persona.

He looked down at the festival pamphlet in his hand his expression carrying the heavy quiet weight of a man completely exhausted by the deeper realities of life.

He looked back up at her offering a faint weary smile "It’s nice that the world still tries to keep us motivated" said Alexander his voice low and laced with a quiet melancholic calm "Too bad that at the end of the day it’s just another passing event."

Sophie blinked a look of slight confusion washing over her face as she tried to process his words.

She didn’t fully understand the cryptic meaning behind his statement but his distant profound loneliness only made him seem infinitely more fascinating to her.
