The Novel's Draft
Chapter 35 - 128
After waking up, me and Alleus immediately began sparring to check if we could move well.
Dodging a punch, I countered with a spinning hook kick.
Jumping up in the air, she did a spinning axe kick.
Raising both forearms into an X-Shape, I blocked the attack.
"Alright, I think that’s good enough."
Wiping off the sweat off her face, Alleus nodded.
"Yeah, I think so too."
Drinking water off a wooden cup, as we watched Lieur and Vertere practice martial arts techniques that we taught them. This demon raid had told us that there are going to be instances where a ranger is ineffective and when a mage can no longer expend mana.
"Alright, that’s enough you two. We need to strategize for the future."
Standing around a crate, I spread open a paper.
"First of all we need to get better armor, I will go loot the corpses from the dead and barely alive. Vertere, look for a better wand. Lieur stay by Incus and shoot arrows on fire into the sky when she’s on the move. Alleus, go look for necessities like potions, the more the better."
Ripping the piece of paper, I listed all the things that they needed to focus on.
"Captain, shouldn’t we take this opportunity to recruit a healer?"
Shaking my head, I handed out the torn papers.
"No, based off the magic they use to heal we don’t need to. Vertere has recently learned light magic so we can cross that off."
Looking at Vertere, I continued:
"You should use this time as well to learn healing magic from the healers. Since you’re forbidden to cast magic, try to find a notebook to write their instructions down."
Extending my hand forward, the others did the same.
"Let’s do this."
Raising our hands, we split ways.
Running towards the large tent, I looked at the conditions of the people.
I couldn’t take stuff from those who have torn equipment.
Scavenging through the bodies that are in decent conditions, I quickly stripped them naked to their undergarments, making sure that the healers don’t notice me. They’ve been written to act and aid the people, so if I get caught, I’ll definitely be punished.
Putting the loot into my pouch, making it fat, I shifted my attention to now look for a pouch of sort for Lieur and Vertere, even if it’s small.
They don’t really need a big one anyways because Lieur has the magic quiver bracelet that can hold arrows in a different space, and I gave up the jade bracelet that can store mana.
Looking around, a doctor stood in front of me.
"Hello may I help you?" I asked.
"You start by telling me what’s inside your bag." He pointed.
Shit, I’ve been caught.
Presenting it open, he gasped.
"What incarnation are you doing with these!"
"I’m just grabbing heirlooms for their families, I’ve been sent by the kingdom on a new program."
With a deep in thought expression, he turned his back.
"Well then, I’ll let the others know. But make sure you pray for the dead, as per the Saint’s order."
"Understood."
With that, I can search for stuff more freely. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Catching my eye, I took off a pouch and a battle suit that had been padded with small pieces of armor left next to a woman who gave me angry glances. But she couldn’t do anything since she had a fully body cast.
"They couldn’t heal you fully now could they? Don’t get too angry, I’ll make sure this gets put to good use."
Putting the pouch over my shoulders I continued walking.
Tripping and catching myself, I looked down.
I found the perfect attire for Vertere, it’s in perfect condition, but it seems that the person has died.
Taking off their clothes, I knelt down and put my hands together.
"Thank you for your contribution, you will not be forgotten as the fibers you’ve provided will be put to good use."
Standing up, saw a pouch hung on a small rack.
Making sure that no one sees me, I swiftly hid it under my back and put on the white tunic which was hung next to it.
"I’ve gotten everything I need."
But I should look for any accessories, since these are characters from the army, they should have something good. Who knows, maybe I’ll find something as good as the jade bracelet.
After a while of searching, I didn’t find anything. It was either just normal accessories or broken ones.
"Damn."
Stopping a medical worker by the shoulder, I asked:
"Do you know where their equipment are? It seems that the armor of the army isn’t with them."
Giving me a skeptical look, he answered in a cautious tone:
"They’re in a storage room, why?"
"As you can see, I’ve been stripped bare. I only have my cloak and pants, I’m looking for my armor."Wearing a kinder looking face, he pointed outside at the exit of the tent.
"If you just was left, you’ll see a small collection of stuff we collected from the battlefield. Your stuff should be there!"
"Okay, thank you." I bowed and left the tent.
Turning left, a smaller tent was set up.
Walking through, I covered my face as the bright glinting of treasures was slapping me.
"Small collection is an understatement."
Blowing out a few candles so that the reflection stopped blinding me, I pushed aside broken pieces of armor.
Rummaging through the the iron and steel, my mouth gaped wide open.
With a gulp, I picked up a piece of armor.
[Force armor (Enchantment: Raging steel): Forged by a raging blacksmith, mana was unknowingly transferred into the steel being forged. The more enraged the person is, the stronger the wearer becomes.]
"Scales, turn into a bracelet."
After the dragon scales armor turned into a black bracelet around my wrist, I quickly put on the armor.
"Wow it’s surprisingly light—"
As soon as I did, a voice spoke to me:
’You’re my new owner? I sense no anger within you, but It seems that you have a lot to worry about. Use me, and you shall be invincible.’
Throwing the armor off of my, I stepped back.
"W-what the hell, did that thing just speak to me?"
Knelting down, I gently rested my finger on the surface of the armor.
’Afraid? Don’t be, I am but a mere sheet of metal.’
"...What are you?"
’Me? Something to strengthen you.’ Said the force armor.
