The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend
Chapter 743 - The Giant Locust Blade
Han Wu finally realized that Hei Qi had gone mad.
Unfortunately, he could only summon the Explosive Locust Blade and Locust-V while he was this close to the sea of lava. These two Divine Weapons were undeniably powerful, but they weren’t enough to take down Hei Qi. For that, he would need the Small Locust Blades, which would take constant heat damage and couldn’t be effectively used.
So, Han Wu decided to play the long game. His priority was getting the token from Gong Jun’s body.
Despite going mad, Hei Qi had regrettably retained his intelligence. The first thing he did after killing Gong Jun was pick up the token with his blade.
“You want to leave, right?” he asked, turning to face Han Wu. “Then you have to face me first.”
Hei Qi swung his blade, unleashing a black blade pressure that easily cut through boulders and churned the lava. Han Wu used the Explosive Locust Blade to block it, but the blade pressure destroyed it.
Locust-V continued its barrage of bullets, but Hei Qi dodged them with ease, even having the leeway to occasionally retaliate. Even so, Hei Qi wasn’t having a good time. The protection of the Evil God Contract wasn’t enough to prevent heat damage.
The two were locked in a stalemate for long enough that the next day came. With the timer up, Hei Qi used the token to escape. Han Wu activated the Freespirited Ape God technique to follow Hei Qi out of the secret realm.
Outside, without the restrictions of the blistering heat, the two could finally fight to their heart’s content. Black energy emanated from Hei Qi, and nine eyes opened on his black blade.
Han Wu summoned all of his Small Locust Blades. After Triplicate and Seven Killings, 9 million Small Locust Blades covered the sky. Even the deranged Hei Qi felt powerless at the sight.
In truth, it wasn’t Hei Qi who wanted to retreat, but the evil god possessing him. It recognized the fight as a death wish. Before Han Wu could even attack, the evil god took control of Hei Qi’s body and fled.
The Small Locust Blades flew at supersonic speed but couldn’t catch up. Even Han Wu couldn’t give chase despite using Freespirited Ape God. Furious, he cursed Hei Qi. The latter was hung up on revenge, yet he was the first to run from the fight!
Catching sight of Han Wu’s Small Locust Blades from a distance, Qin Shuang and Sun Qingnian rushed over to check on him. Han Wu informed them of Hei Qi’s escape. Both of them sighed. This had been a waste of time.
Frustration welled up within Han Wu. Hei Qi’s speed was beyond his expectations. Even Han Wu couldn’t catch up!
“I need to complete my training for the Freespirited Ape God,” he said firmly.
It was no exaggeration to say that his speeds after mastering the technique would allow him to pluck the moon and catch abyssal fish.
Still, they didn’t return from this venture empty-handed. Han Wu had killed the city lord and turned Wushuang City itself upside down. None of the noble families dared to do anything to Han Wu, and even offered large sums of money and resources in hopes that Wushuang City would be spared.
Han Wu accepted their gifts. There were many materials that he could use to upgrade his own Divine Weapons. While his Small Locust Blades and Explosive Locust Blade had reached 9 Star and couldn’t be upgraded further, he did have several more Divine Weapons that could be upgraded.
Recalling that he had unlocked his ninth Divine Weapon earlier, Han Wu also took this opportunity to check it.
[Giant Locust Blade]
[1-Star God Equipment]
[Rank 1]
[Durability: 1000/1000]
[Effect: Gigantify (God)]
[Skill: Tenfold, Hundredfold]
[Description: Formed from the Giant Locust. Contains the power of giants.]
Han Wu summoned it. At two meters long, it appeared like a magnified version of the Small Locust Blades and far more durable than his other Divine Weapons.
Using Tenfold caused it to grow to twenty meters long. The sight was jarring and intimidating. Its parameters had also increased to match its size. The durability grew tenfold and was now at 10,000. That was enough durability to carve a path through a mountain!
Han Wu then tried Hundredfold. This time, the already massive blade grew until it was 200 meters long. Even his estate couldn’t contain it!
Pointing it up to try and get a better gauge of its size, he realized it was large enough to dwarf most buildings. A single swing from this humongous blade would be a spectacular sight.
After playing around with his new weapon, Han Wu went on to choose its God-grade effect.
[1: Afterblow (God): Divine Weapon obtains an afterimage that deals a second blow that follows each attack.]
[2: Superheavy (God): The impact behind the Divine Weapon’s blows grows in proportion to its size.]
[3: Eviscerate (God): Infuses attacks with destructive powers. Divine Weapons hit by it will have their max durability reduced, and injuries on the flesh will not heal.]
He carefully considered each one. The first was simple but brutal. It turned one blow into two and doubled his damage.
The second strengthened the weapon when it grew bigger. A massive, heavy blade would definitely deliver significant damage with this effect.
The third reduced the upper limit of the durability of the opposing Divine Weapon, and the opponent’s wounds couldn’t be healed. This was powerful, but the sheer size of the blade meant there could be instances where the opponent’s Divine Weapons could block against it.
Moreover, most life forms were already likely to die from the impact if they were attacked head-on. Thus, though the third appeared powerful, it was arguably the one with the fewest use cases.
After much consideration, Han Wu decided to go for the second option.
The Giant Locust Blade became stronger, and its quality improved. Using the resources that the noble families had sent over and the Furnace Stones he had picked up in the secret realm, he ranked up all his Divine Weapons.
As the Abyss Armor had aided him greatly in the secret realm, he decided to pay special attention to upgrading it. It soon became his third 9-Star God-grade Divine Weapon.
Absorbing the gifted materials and Furnace Stones had multiplied Abyss Armor’s defensive capabilities, allowing it to nullify most blows from Divine Weapons below 9 Stars. Its Invulnerable effect had come ever closer to reality. Han Wu could stand in the middle of the enemy army and get hit all he wanted, yet still be safe with it protecting him.
Almost no one in this civilization could harm him now!
