The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend
Chapter 747 - My Blade is Thirsty
The figures in black summoned their Divine Weapons. Han Wu smiled, summoning several hundred of his Small Locust Blades, before multiplying them into tens of thousands.
The Small Locust Blades slashed past the men with a surprisingly metallic clash. Most of the Small Locust Blades had been deflected. Only some had managed to stab them. Yet, even those stabbed continued to charge as if they felt no pain.
Han Wu flicked the Explosive Locust Blade at them. The explosion blasted them back. The fire then morphed into a Fire Bat and chased them down. Its flames burned away their robes, revealing their greenish-black skin.
“Those aren’t humans!” Guan Nan exclaimed. “Those are Iron Corpses! They’re impervious to most attacks!”
Their indifference to Han Wu’s Small Locust Blades and the flames of his explosions had baffled him earlier, but now he understood. They weren’t living beings at all!
“You are correct,” said the voice from the coffin. “Unfortunately for you, nobody who’s seen the true nature of my Iron Corpses gets to live for very long.”
The Iron Corpses charged at them.
“Benefactor, my Heaven-Earth Severance can stop them. Both my brother and I can only fight one Iron Corpse each. Please stall for time for the rest of them,” Guan Nan said.
“Why bother with something so troublesome?” Han Wu frowned. The Iron Corpses were annoying, but Han Wu hadn’t even tried his other seven Divine Weapons yet.
Summoning Locust-V, he pointed at the Iron Corpses. “Destroy them.”
“What if I don’t?” Locust-V asked playfully.
Han Wu glared.
Seeing the seriousness of his gaze, it immediately did a 180. “I will complete the mission.”
It raised its arms at the Iron Corpses and changed the barrel sizes until they were the size of its wrists before firing a slew of Armor Piercing Rounds. Each bullet was like a mini cannonball that left gaping holes in the Iron Corpses. The powerful impact also knocked them backwards. In just a minute, all of the Iron Corpses had been dismembered.
Locust-V jokingly saluted Han Wu. “Mission accomplished.”
Han Wu waved his hand, gesturing for it to stand aside. Only the Yang Emissary remained.
“What’s wrong? Do you need me to invite you out of your coffin?” Han Wu asked, summoning his latest Divine Weapon, the Giant Locust Blade.
When Guan Nan saw the two-meter-long blade, he couldn’t help but regret not teaching Han Wu Heaven-Earth Severance earlier. That giant blade was much larger than his own reclining moon blade!
As if sensing the threat from Han Wu, the lid of the coffin launched high into the air with a loud bang before landing vertically at the coffin’s edge.
The Yang Emissary stepped out, looking like a humanoid golem crafted from pure gold. He wore golden armor, and even his skin was radiant gold. Han Wu sensed the presence of a Divine Weapon similar to his Abyss Armor emanating from the man.
It appeared the golden armor had a similar effect to Invulnerable. If he wanted to break through its defenses, he would need a single powerful blow. Anything less would be nullified.
“It seems that you’re strong enough to kill my Iron Corpses. If you surrender yourself to me, I will spare you,” the Yang Emissary said with an air of lofty benevolence.
Han Wu shrugged. “But my blade is thirsty. Tell you what, I’ll give you a 199-meter head start before I attack.”
“You gnat. You dare look down on me? I will show you my unyielding power!” With that, he leaped forward, landing on the ground with the solid heft of metal that cracked the tiles. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Han Wu swung his Giant Locust Blade down. “I gave you a chance to run. Don’t blame me for this.”
As his Giant Locust Blade fell, he activated Hundredfold, and the blade grew to 200 meters long, with a weight and impact that reflected its new size. Han Wu also used the Guan family’s secret Heaven-Earth Severance technique at the same time.
A massive energy blade, larger than his Giant Locust Blade, swung downwards.
The Yang Emissary belatedly realized his mistake, but it was too late to escape. The blow landed cleanly. The ground shook with a loud explosion. The slumbering Hu family was startled awake, and unable to help themselves, they quickly ran out to check on the situation.
A meter-wide gouge started from the front of the estate and stretched far beyond what the eye could see. The Hu family patriarch slumped to the ground, murmuring to himself in awe.
Guan Nan had taught Han Wu Heaven-Earth Severance, but even he was left stunned. In all honesty, he had never really believed the words of his ancestors about a single cleave splitting the world apart. Seeing Han Wu’s swing, however, he changed his mind. Han Wu could really split the world apart if he mastered the technique.
Han Wu was the most surprised out of them. When he had swung the blade down, he had briefly felt as though he had gained the strength of his true body. He knew it was probably just in his head, but the power of Heaven-Earth Severance was undeniably satisfying regardless. Perhaps he could even split a Microcosm in half once he mastered it.
As for the Yang Emissary, he had paid the price for his arrogance. Several golden drops of blood on the ground were all that remained of him. The rest of the body was probably scattered far down the gouge.
The slash had not only awakened the Guan family and the Hu family, but also the other nearby noble households. They quickly sent their men to check and soon received news of the massive gouge extending from the Hu family estate. A brief investigation revealed that both the Yin and Yang Emissary of the Profound Netherworld Cult had been killed.
Several eyewitnesses reported that Han Wu had been seen on site—the same Han Wu who had killed the city lord. The noble households dared not say a peep. Soon, a hidden message spread throughout the city.
The Hu family was nominated to be the newest noble family, and their son-in-law, Guan Nan, became the most likely candidate for the next city lord.
As for Han Wu, he departed Wushuang City with Sun Qingnian and Qin Shuang the very next day. Jin Buhuan had sent them a message the previous night stating that the legendary Armament Spirit was about to appear.
