Abigail

"So I can’t smile at you whenever we’re working?"

Finnegan sat across from me on the couch, one ankle crossed over his knee, his emerald green eyes narrowed at me. If he was wondering if I was being deliberately obtuse, yeah, yeah I was.

He had driven us to his penthouse after the... encounter in his car. I could hardly step out of the vehicle without wincing, good lord, he wrecked my poor pussy to the limit.

Now, we had to talk. We had gotten past the whole I lied to him bit, at least I hoped that we had.

"I didn’t say that, I said we would have to be strictly professional at work. You will be Miss Kellerman to me. We cannot blur the lines, Abigail. Work stays in its place and our arrangement in its own place."

"Oh, so I can smile at you." I tilted my head, a playful grin toying on my lips.

God, he looked so sexy when he was serious.

"I understand that we can’t have sex, but what about this? Can I do this?"

I reached up and cupped my tits through my top, giving them a good squeeze while holding his gaze. "Hi Mr Wolfe, your itinerary for the day is-"

"Abigail," He cleared his throat, the corner of his mouth twitching. He glanced away and with a giggle I let go of my tits pointing at him.

"Admit it, you thought that was funny,"

"I’m being serious," the twitch on his lips was completely gone.

"I know, I know," I reached for the glass of wine on the table between us and took a sip, sighing at the rich flavour bursting over my tongue. I never would have thought that I would be discussing having sex with my coldhearted boss.

His green eyes flickered with heat when I licked my bottom lip and a thrill shot through me when his Adam apple bobbed up and down.

Apparently he wasn’t as aloof as he sounded. "What I’m trying to say is-"

"Things will remain strictly business between us at work and I get to ride your dick anytime after five pm?"

He groaned, sucking air through his teeth. "You have a filthy mouth, Abigail,"

I leaned back against the armrest, flashing him a cheeky smile. "You love my filthy mouth,"

Stroking his jaw while gazing at me heatedly, he hummed. "Damn right I do."

Oh god, if I wasn’t so sore right now, I would he crossing the gap to show him just hard I could ride him.

"We’re in agreement, Mr Wolfe. Work is work, no strings attached." I shrugged. "Honestly I’d rather no one knew anyway. The last thing I need is people all up in my business."

He held my gaze for a moment then nodded in satisfaction.

Besides, I thought, gazing at his face, his razor sharp jaw, those green eyes that turned me to melting goo every time, the tattoos peeking from where his sleeve was pushed back, I didn’t want him getting tangled up in the investigation of my parents death.

This would be no more than an office fling anyway. What were the chances that he would tire of me soon and ask for us to go our separate ways?

And why did thinking that make my stomach clench weirdly?

"Will you tell me why you are afraid of the dark?"

I blinked rapidly, jolting out of my thoughts. "Excuse me?"

"You’ve had two panic attacks, before me" He muttered, leaning forward, his eyes gazing softly at me.

A flush filled my cheeks and I dropped my gaze to the wine glass in my hands while he went on. "Both times, the lights went out and it was dark."

A laugh slipped out of me before I could stop it. "You noticed that?"

"Did something happen? Is it connected to why you’re terrified of hospitals?"

Argh, who was he? Albert fucking Einstein?

What was with all these connections he was drawing? Not that he was wrong, but I’d rather not bare myself completely to a man I was having sex with.

I picked at the cushion I sat on, wondering what to say. Would he be furious if I told him it was nothing? Yeah, probably.

Besides, I already vowed that I wouldn’t lie to him. "I don’t want to talk about it." I flashed him a small smile. "I was in an accident many years ago. I guess it was traumatic." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"I’m sorry you went through that. Do they come often?"

My head swayed from side to side. "Not so often. I’m fine, Finn."

Now I had better change the subject before I bawled my eyes out.

"Oh yeah, there’s something I should tell you," I say up straighter, dropping the glass on the table with a click. "It’s about your mother."

His brows furrowed, creases appearing on his forehead. A few strands of his hair framed around his face, they had come loose from his slick back hairstyle mostly because I had grabbed and humped his face in the elevator like some cat in heat.

"What about my mother?"

"She came to see me some weeks ago, in the parking lot. She had a... proposition? I guess we could call it that."

I didn’t think it was possible but his eyes narrowed in slits.

Telling him was the right thing, wasn’t it? I just didn’t want it hanging over us like the sword of Damocles.

Besides, there was something very unsettling about Gina Wolfe. I just couldn’t place a finger over it, especially after the thing with the decorator.

"She wanted me to send her your schedule and keep her updated on your whereabouts, in exchange for a lot of money."

Finnegan’s face went rigid, his hands gripping the wine glass he had reached for tightly I thought he had morphed into a statue.

"I told her no, though," I added quickly before he assumed the worst of me.

After a minute of heavy awkward silence, he bit out. "I’ll handle it,"

The temperature in the room dropped several degrees. I glanced around the living room awkwardly, not sure what to do. The clock on his wall said half past seven.

I uncurled my legs and slid off the couch. "I should get going."

"Stay." He rose as well, his body gravitating upwards drawing my eyes to every gorgeous line and muscle that moved under his shirt.

"Finnegan." I bit the inside of my cheek. "If I stay I’m going to jump on you."

The corner of his mouth moved again, a little bit more upward this time. "What if," He whispered hotly, "I want you to jump on me?"

"Oh I would love to," I crossed the room toward him, stopping just in front of him.

Leaning on my toes, I pressed my lips to his cheek, sighing at the warmth of his skin against my mouth and the smell of his cologne.

"But I have to go home tonight. I’m all yours tomorrow."

His hand came up, cupping my jaw and he kissed me deeply, his thumb tracing my cheekbone while his mouth moved over mine in slow hot strokes.

When he pulled back his forehead dropped briefly against mine, his breath whipping against my face.

He groaned, leaning in for another hot hungry kiss. His tongue traced my bottom lip once and with a moan, I pulled away, despite every single cell in my body screaming in protest.

"See you tomorrow, Abigail."
