The Substitute Ex-Wife: Seeking a Divorce
Chapter 170: Worry
"Let’s go," Sylvia said when she heard Jacob’s words.
"Honey, are you in a bad mood today? Why do I feel like you didn’t look right when you looked at Owen and Anita just now?" Jacob asked Sylvia, who was sitting by the bed, after washing up.
"I’m not. I’m just thinking about something," Sylvia said while listening to Jacob.
"Is it because of Johann? But we watched Johann grow up. She’s not bad at heart. You don’t have to worry so much." Jacob thought of what his wife had said at the dinner table tonight, so he looked at Sylvia and said.
"Yes, but it’s not entirely because of her. You know, Anita looks too similar to Mia. Every time I see her, I can’t help but think of Mia. But if you look carefully, the two of them are very different, especially their personalities," Sylvia said while listening to Jacob.
"Honey, don’t think too much. I believe Owen can tell the difference between Anita and Mia." Jacob listened to Sylvia and thought about it for a moment before looking at her again.
"I know Owen can tell the difference between them, but I still felt guilty when I saw Anita. Didn’t we feel the same way when we first saw Anita?"
"So when she and Owen got married, we didn’t say anything. I’m really afraid that one day, Anita would find out about Mia and think that we were all lying to her," Sylvia said sadly, as if she could already foresee the future.
"Honey, don’t worry too much. It hasn’t happened yet. Let’s treat Anita as our child with all our hearts. I believe she can feel our sincerity," Jacob said as he placed the towel he was holding by the table and walked toward Sylvia.
"Well, I hope so," Sylvia said as she shook Jacob’s hand.
"Go to sleep. It’s getting late. The children have their own paths to follow. Don’t worry so much," Jacob said to Sylvia as he reached out and picked her up.
"Yes, I understand." Sylvia nodded and walked to the bed with Jacob.
"I just asked the butler to heat up a glass of milk for you. Drink it and sleep. Don’t worry so much," Jacob said with a smile as he handed the glass of milk that the butler had just sent in to Sylvia.
"Yes, thank you," Sylvia said as she took the milk and looked at Jacob gently.
"What are you looking at? Go wash up," Owen said with a smile when he came out of his room and saw Anita still standing by his table, looking at something.
"Yes, I’ll go immediately. Is everything here from your childhood?" Anita said, turning back to Owen.
"Yeah, this is all my stuff from when I was young," Owen said as he stood beside Anita and looked at the table in front of him.
"Did you use this rugby ball when you were young?" Anita said as she took down a very old-looking rugby ball from the shelf and looked at Owen.
Owen glanced at the football in her hand. He thought about it and smiled helplessly. "Sort of."
"Sort of? Isn’t this what you used when you were young? If not, why did you put it on the shelf?" Anita said dubiously as she listened to Owen.
"What? I can’t put stuff I didn’t use when I was young on the shelf?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Owen glanced at Anita and continued, "When I was young, I wasn’t athletic, and I was a little introverted, so many children didn’t want to play with me. At that time, in order to let them play with me, I bought a rugby ball and wanted to invite them to play with me, but I didn’t expect them to think I was stupid. They didn’t want to be on the same team as me, so I never played rugby again."
He looked at Anita as he spoke. He took the football from her hand and put it back where it had been.
"I’m sorry, I... I didn’t expect this to be the case." Anita didn’t expect such a past behind this football, so she quickly said sheepishly.
"Is just a verbal apology enough? I don’t want to accept it." Owen said softly without turning around.
"Then... then how can you accept it? I really feel bad." Anita thought Owen was really angry, so she said again.
