Chapter 12: Alone with them

The thought of being left in an unfamiliar territory terrified Yuki. Being stuck with the brothers terrified her.

Her voice lowered. "Do you really have to go?" She asked. Aevia saw her hesitation and was genuinely worried. A subtle frown was on her face but she couldn’t avoid this trip as Alexander’s future Luna.

"Sorry, I can’t." She said and Yuki’s stomach dropped immediately. Aevia squeezed her hand to assure her. "It’s just for a few days. I would be back during the weekend for Eloise’s birthday," she explained and Yuki’s eyes went wide.

"Eloise’s birthday. " she blurted and Aevia nodded.

"Yeah Eloise is the Beta’s daughter and most likely future Luna I have to attend," she explained. Yuki tried to keep her face straight but it was pretty hard.

So Eloise was the Beta’s daughter. She couldn’t help but get hung up on the fact. She seemed to be more suited to Kieran but the thought terrified her. Eloise was more powerful than she thought

A laugh threatened to leave her lips but she forced it down. She must have been a fool to have fallen for someone like Kieran.

Seeing that Yuki wasn’t speaking, Aevia spoke up. "Your birthday was yesterday. I haven’t gotten you a proper gift. I will have something prepared during the trip, just hold on." She tried to smooth things over

Yuki reluctantly nodded. She didn’t have much of a say in the situation. "When are you leaving?" She asked.

"Before dawn. It will be a long journey." Aevia replied, a soft knock on the door interrupted them followed by a polite nod

"Lady Aevia the alpha summons you. " the maid said. Aevia wasn’t marked by Alexander yet and didn’t have a close bond so they couldn’t mind link each other.

"I have to go." Aevia sighed and then stood up. She made her way towards the door and pushed it open. The maid was waiting outside. She bowed politely to Aevia.

Aevia stepped out, closing the door behind her. After the room fell into silence. Yuki sat on her bed going through everything that had happened today.

Her eyes darted around the room and found her bag on the bedside. She reached for the bag and quickly rummaged inside for her cellphones.

Although werewolves could mindlink over distance with people they share bonds with, they still embraced technology like cellphones. Yuki unlocked her screen, her wallpaper was still an image of Kieran she had secretly taken in the past..

It was a side profile of him while he was working in the lab assisting a professor. Even now staring at the image she felt something stir in her, it was harder to let go of old emotions than she imagined.

Yuki sighed then quickly logged into Dravenhall University forums. She needed to get information about her new school. Dravenhall was a top university among shifters, although it was a Ravencourt territory, admission was open for outsiders.

The page loaded and the first thing she saw at the top of the forum made her stomach drop.

TRANSFER STUDENT PASSED OUT ON TRACKS BARELY AFTER 10 LAPS

A photo of her being carried out from the tracks was attached. Her face was very clear in the photo and the comments were brutal. Yuki couldn’t read them. They were mocking her for having a very low tolerance, and someone even brought up what happened at the combat class earlier.

She was labelled a dumb omega trying to cosplay a healer. Just looking at the comments and mockery made her head throb. She might not be a top-ranked werewolf but she wasn’t an omega either just because she fainted.

[ Who the hell faints within just 10 laps] someone mocked.

There were several replies but one caught her attention.

[ She is a transfer student from Xyrus and besides, she probably hasn’t fully awakened a wolf. ]

Someone actually tried to defend her but the reply was quickly swallowed. Yuki noticed anyway and her hand trembled. Why did it feel like she knew who it was?

*******

The next morning as Aevia said she and Alexander left before dawn. No one woke Yuki in time and by the time she woke up it was already late

She got ready in a rush and hurried to the dining room, confused the entire way why no one woke her up. The dining door opened and she stepped into the lavish dining room..

A high-pitched voice welcomed her as soon as she stepped in. Yuki immediately spotted Eloise seated at the table complaining about her eggs. "These are overcooked. " she hissed, chewing her food.

A maid bowed slightly to apologise. "Sorry, we didn’t know you would be having breakfast here." The maid politely said trying to smooth things over.

Yuki frowned, this wasn’t Eloise’s place but it seemed like she ran things here.

She was stunned for a moment seeing Eloise but didn’t say anything. Her stomach grumbled at the sight of food. Yuki had missed dinner last night and was pretty famished

She didn’t pay any heed to Eloise seated at the table and immediately took her seat to start eating but as soon as she sat. Eloise wiped her mouth and beckoned a maid. "Clear the table, I am done." She instructed.

Yuki was stunned for a moment but to her greatest shock, the maids started clearing the table picking up the bread she was about to touch. Her head snapped to Eloise. "I haven’t eaten. They can’t clear the table." She retorted but no one stopped.

Eloise arched her brow. "You should have woken up earlier. " she sneered. Yuki’s hands twitched.

"I wasn’t feeling well and overslept. No one told me breakfast was ready and besides, you don’t control things here." Yuki tried to make sense but no one paid attention to her. The maids continued clearing the table.

No one had woken her or even informed her that breakfast was served. It was deliberate.

A soft laugh escaped Eloise’s lips. "How cute, but news flash Yuki. The alpha isn’t around leaving the boys in charge, which technically makes this my turf." She said condescendingly

"I have to eat," Yuki argued, getting on her feet. Her hand slammed on the table. "You can’t act unreasonably.".

"Unreasonable?" Eloise arched her brows. "Watch me and I will show you unreasonable. Do you think anyone here would pick you over me?" She asked, feeling smug.

"I can tell my sister." Yuki threatened. A smile curled up Eloise’s lips. The dining room was practically scared.

"Oh, I am scared." She said feigning fear, her body shook as she hugged her hand. Then her smile widened. "Go ahead then and let’s see if a Luna who can’t produce heirs can go against the future true Luna of this pack and the Beta’s daughter. "

Yuki felt her stomach churn. "Even Alpha Alexander respects me and talks less of Aevia who needs my father’s support to secure her position. Pack politics isn’t that easy; the triplets’ mother still has followers. "

Yuki went silent terrified at the reality of things. Her nails dug into her palms. "Why are you doing this to me? We barely know each other."

Something flashed on Eloise’s face. She crossed her hands. Her gaze sharpened. "I don’t like you. Especially that face of yours," she said directly. Jealousy and malice filled her gaze. Eloise was very pretty but Yuki had this delicate look that drew envy.

Yuki was dumbfounded. "I have done nothing to deserve your hatred. " Yuki was losing her mind. Her stomach was still twisting in hunger.

Eloise slowly stood up. Her gaze didn’t leave Yuki. "Not yet," she said as a calculating look flashed in her eyes. "Do you think I don’t know what is going on? Your sister used her face to bewitch Alexander. I am certain you have the same intentions for the triplets but I wouldn’t let you. "

The hatred in Eloise’s eyes told Yuki this wasn’t a joke. Eloise meant every word of it. Even if she had a crush on Kieran. Yuki wouldn’t dream of getting involved with the heirs of the Ravencourt throne.

"I don’t fucking care about them, Eloise. Trust me the triplets are the last men on earth I would ever want to get involved with." Yuki barked at the top of her lungs. "I would rather be with a rogue."

The doors swung open and Yuki’s head snapped to the door. Kaden and Kieran were standing there and for some unknown reason, Yuki felt a strong sense of dread wash over her.
