Chapter 84: The Godless

Ravena, the spiritual manifestation of the weapon ’Godless’ and the master of the Crimson Sky Realm, was a terrifying entity. Her weapon alone possessed enough raw power to wipe out entire planets.

Millions of years ago, when the universe was young and the planet Asterion had just formed, mana had yet to descend upon the world. The Ascension Realm was not yet linked to reality. Back then, everything was perfectly maintained by the ’Order of the Universe’. The Order was the absolute ruler; the very reason the universe existed at all was because of it. Every planet and person living within the universe were simply subjects to this Order.

Because Godless possessed enough power to disrupt and shatter that very Order, the universe viewed the weapon as a dangerous parasite. It was a catastrophic anomaly created by the Unknown.

Since the universe did not allow outside beings to exist without placing massive restrictions on them, it bound the weapon to an isolated dimension originally known as the ’Blue Sky’. The Order couldn’t actually fight the overwhelming power of the weapon without facing catastrophic damage to reality itself, so the heavens decided to exile the blade to a different realm, ensuring it would stay out of human or other races hands.

With its unknown, dark energy, the weapon swallowed the entire dimension, completely changing its environment. The realm became solely controlled by Godless, transforming into the Crimson Sky.

Even though the ’Order’ of the Universe surrounded the realm, the heavens didn’t dare engage with it out of fear of its power. So, they simply neglected it.

However, the universe was entirely unaware of the weapon’s Spiritual Manifestation. Ravena was a strong figure capable of leveling worlds. But because she was the very living existence of the weapon, she was permanently trapped alongside it. She could not leave the realm.

Centuries later, after mana finally descended upon Asterion and other planets, Ravena used her power to send magical projections across different worlds to search for a suitable host. She drew curious mortals into her realm using a tether known as the ’Tome of the Crimson Sky’. Because she was only a projection, she couldn’t physically hurt anyone on the outside; she could only observe the world through her own eyes for a limited amount of time.

Watching the outside world made her curious. How did people live? Was the outside world just like the realm she lived in—a place of constant battle with no peace? Or was it beautiful?

Over the ages, she summoned many suitable candidates who seemed capable of wielding the weapon based on their soul power and mental fortitude. Because the weapon reacted violently to a person’s emotions, weak-hearted people instantly had their souls corrupted the moment they touched it.

But every time someone tried to use Godless, they either died, unable to survive the weapon’s crushing aura, or they faced the absolute Wrath of Heaven. The universe did not allow anyone to mess with the Order, and using the weapon meant openly defying the natural laws of reality. Anyone who tried to wield it certainly faced heavenly punishment.

Escaping this punishment was nearly impossible. A person would literally have to flee across the universe to survive Heaven’s Wrath.

Some incredibly powerful figures in the past had actually tried this. A few even managed to escape. But when they tried to return to the universe—thinking the heavens had finally calmed down—the world permanently restricted their entrance. If they tried to force their way back in, the universe stripped them of their power, dropping them to the level of a low-rank Awakener. They were forced to climb the Ascension Realm from the very bottom as beginners. The laws of the world refused to support them, their destinies were destroyed, and they ultimately suffered miserable deaths.

There were also a few unique people who successfully managed to hold the weapon. Because they possessed favor from the heavens since birth, the world temporarily permitted them to use it.

But as the saying goes: if you walk through the mud, you are inevitably bound to get dirty. Ravena deliberately manipulated these capable figures, forcing them to fight against their own people so she could seize an opportunity to take over their bodies.

But she failed every single time. Either the host realized her dark motives and stopped using her, or—because they were the favored children of heaven—the universe itself intervened and blessed them, protecting their souls from the weapon’s corruption. Often, the hosts simply died in the deadly trials of the Ascension Realm before she could claim them.

Century after century, all of her plans failed. She waited, endlessly searching for new people.

Recently, during this endless search, she found Alen. He was just a figure she stumbled upon by mistake, or perhaps by luck. At first glance, she hadn’t seen anything unique about him besides his handsome face.

But after he entered the library where she had hidden the true ’Tome of the Crimson Sky’, she secretly tried to probe his soul and memories. To her absolute shock, she couldn’t see a thing.

She had easily peered into the minds of beings far stronger than this weakling. But she could not read him. That was the first truly unusual thing to happen to her in thousands of years.

Intrigued, she forcibly summoned him to her realm. She threw one of the weakest monsters in the Crimson Sky at him to test his capabilities. She had expected a good battle that he would finish in seconds, but to her deep disappointment, he was much weaker than she had anticipated. Compared to the powerful prodigies who had risen throughout history, he wasn’t exceptionally strong.

That was when she made the biggest mistake of her immortal life: deciding to manipulate him to take over his body.

She could sense that his physical body was uniquely stronger than a normal human’s. If she took it, she would become powerful enough to finally escape from the universe’s grasp. Since she had no dreams, goals, or attachments to this reality, she had no reason to cling to this universe. She wanted to travel to a different, safer universe where she wouldn’t face any heavenly restrictions.

When she saw him using the weapon, she realized he was a capable person who could unconsciously affect the ’Order’ of the Universe, despite being so weak. Because he was completely unaware of his own power, she felt confident she could manipulate him by using logic, reasoning, and a false sense of trust.

But when the bond formation began, she never expected the boy to suddenly change his mind and take control over the process to form an oath of his own.

She knew that if anyone messed with a bond involving Godless, the ’Order’ of the Universe would violently react. The universe itself would destroy the soul of the person who tried to defy it. She had fully expected him to be obliterated, and she had braced herself to die alongside him when the crimson halo appeared, since she was involved in the formation.

But to her absolute shock... nothing happened.

She hadn’t anticipated this possibility. She didn’t know what kind of unknown power he had used, or how he had remained completely unaffected by Heaven’s Wrath. Not only did he survive, but he had successfully and forcibly bonded her to him.

As a result of the universe suppressing the massive anomaly, her power drastically declined, and her physical size shrank. She was reduced from an ancient, terrifying being to a toddler who wasn’t much more powerful than the boy she had called a weakling.

The once-powerful spirit, the terror of the heavens, had become a toddler who couldn’t even harm her own master.

Whatever power he had used, and wherever their journey would lead in the future, Ravena knew one thing for certain: the universe would never remain the same again.
