Chapter 75: Everyone Run!!!

He set up a small camp there.

"Sleep." Adrian told the kids.

Everyone slept inside a single tent on the hard ground. They just had a simple cloth mat to keep them off the dirt. Adrian laid down on the blanket and closed his eyes. He did not ask for a special bed because he did not want to act superior.

But he had no plans of sleeping.

He used dungeon link and scrolled through his massive inventory of items.

He looked at different poisons. None of the lethal ones fit his plan. He kept searching until he found exactly what he needed.

It was a slime left by a monster snail.

It wasn’t exactly poisonous, but it had a unique mechanism. Once someone naturally fell asleep, it made waking up incredibly difficult. Their hearing went dim, sense of touch faded and all of their senses were dulled to an extreme level.

Adrian silently got up and tiptoed out of the tent without waking anyone.

He walked to the bank of the river.

He plunged his hand directly into the cold water. He activated his dungeon link, opening a small portal right at his fingertips and dumped the sensory dulling potion straight into the current from the massive wooden barrel inside, which continued to refill constantly.

Liters upon liters of the monster snail slime poured directly into the river.

Adrian stood there in the dark, continuously pumping it into the river for two whole hours.

He finally pulled his hand out and walked back to the tent and went to sleep.

He woke up early the next morning, only to see that the sun had not even risen yet.

"Wake up." Adrian said as he looked at the others who were still sleeping. "We need to rush back."

They sprinted through the forest, quickly reaching the main army.

His scouts gave their report immediately.

"Seventy percent of the camp is completely asleep." The scout grinned.

"This is the perfect time to ambush them." Adrian told his knights. "The goal is to simply make them retreat. As for the ones that are sleeping, just ignore them."

He walked right up to the edge of the trees and looked at the river. Swimming in steel armor was a dumb move, so Adrian raised his hand and touched his earring like always.

He used dungeon link and soon, a massive slab of solid wood which was thirty centimeters thick, materialized in the air. It crashed down, forming a perfect bridge connecting the forest to the plains.

His knights sprinted over it and Adrian followed right behind them, watching as the enemy camp instantly fell into chaos.

The soldiers who were awake, screamed.

They drew their swords and tried to fight while they shouted at the top of their lungs to wake the others up. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Unfortunately for them, nobody woke up.

After a few of them got slaughtered, the rest panicked. One of them dropped their weapons and retreated while the rest just followed. As for those who stayed behind, the poor guys lost their lives.

"Group the sleeping men together!" Adrian yelled.

The knights dragged the unconscious soldiers into a massive pile and while they did this, Adrian did not waste time. He walked straight into the first wooden warehouse.

Massive wooden crates were stacked to the ceiling and when he looked into one of them, it was packed full of dried pemmican.

He placed his hand on a crate, used dungeon link, and every single crate vanished into thin air.

He then walked over to the second warehouse. Burlap sacks were piled everywhere and each one of them were filled with nothing but hardtack.

The same thing happened again and the warehouse was emptied.

He hit the third warehouse, which was the same as the second. All it had was hardtack, but it didn’t matter to Adrian as he sent all of that into his dungeon too.

Just as he turned around to leave, he heard shouts and the sound of hooves hitting the groung.

Adrian rushed out and looked past the abandoned tents to see a massive cavalry unit charging straight toward them.

Five hundred knights with heavy steel armor.

Seeing this, Adrian felt his stomach drop.

These were not regular foot soldiers. The war horses were draped in thick armor and the riders wore heavy steel plate armor, identical to Adrian’s own knights. They also carried long spears with them.

They had equal defense, superior range, and much better mobility compared to his own group. On top of all that, they had approximately five hundred while Adrian’s group only numbered to sixty seven if he included the kids, Claire and himself.

Adrian did the math in a split second, only to realise that if he fought this group, he was completely fucked.

"Run!" Adrian screamed at his people. "Fucking run!"

His army broke formation and bolted. They rushed back to the wooden bridge.

Adrian ran at the back and the moment he crossed the river, he sent the entire wooden plank into his dungeon.

He thought that not having a bridge to cross the river would stop them.

But he was wrong.

The five hundred cavalry knights did not even slow down. They spurred their horses and while the horses stopped right in front of the river bank, the armored soldiers jumped off their backs and used the momentum to make one last jump from their side to Adrian’s side.

Adrian stared in pure horror as he watched them make huge leaps.

These weren’t regular soldiers in armor, these were all true knights, and there were five hundred of them.

Octavia was the first to react. She drew her dual swords and leaped straight at the leading horseman, swinging her blades in a vicious cross slash.

Sparks flew as her steel blades bounced right off the thick plate armor, leaving only a shallow scratch on the metal.

She jumped back to make space.

"We are fucked." Adrian yelled. "Run as fast as you can!"
