The Villainess Redeems Herself, The Beast Husbands are in a Daily Love Battle
Chapter 189: Two Different Things
The strands of his hair swayed gently with his subtle movements.
Wanda had always been fascinated by that white hair since childhood, and whenever she was held in his arms, she couldn’t resist reaching out her little hands.
Sometimes, she would pull too hard and the hair would be stretched taut.
Alza never got angry.
Even when his scalp went numb from being pulled, he would just softly say, "Wanda, don’t pull too hard, it hurts."
After saying that, he would reach out his other hand to gently smooth the tangled strands.
He was actually quite happy.
This was the Female Master’s first child of her own, different from the others.
If Wanda was willing to be close to him, her Beast Father...
Then perhaps he held a special place in the Female Master’s heart as well?
Deep down, Alza felt an unprecedented joy.
Wanda was the Female Master’s first child, connected by blood, and profoundly significant.
He cherished this little life extraordinarily.
What moved him even more was that the little one seemed not to reject him.
Instead, she always actively snuggled into his arms, reached out to be hugged, and would tug at his hair with her little hands.
This closeness was a tremendous gift to Alza.
He couldn’t help but think quietly.
If Wanda was willing to rely on him, her Beast Father, and see him as family...
Then does it mean that in the Female Master’s heart, he is finally more than just an irrelevant bystander?
He never thought of competing with Caleb Shaw.
Alza knew very well who he was.
A weak and sickly ordinary male.
Being taken in by the Female Master was already a great blessing.
"Female Master, these days Wanda looks more and more like Shaw."
Selene Kane sighed softly, "Yes, the color of her eyes is nothing like mine, so noticeable."
Selene Kane bowed her head and sighed gently.
Wanda’s eyes were deep amber, with a hint of gold around the edges.
Completely different from her own light brown eyes.
She gently stroked the child’s cheek, her voice carrying a slight worry.
"The color of these eyes, just looking at them, they’re not like mine. When asked in the future, it might be impossible to hide... too noticeable."
She paused, then quietly added a line.
"I wonder if it’ll bring trouble in the future."
She relaxed her shoulders, moving her stiff neck wearily.
Then, she carefully handed over the child she held in her arms.
The baby’s face was pink, eyes not completely open yet, only slightly moving her lips.
As the Female Master, holding the child once a day was considered responsible.
This was already rare warmth among their species.
Other females would not even glance at their babies after giving birth, nor listen to their cries, and would directly hand them over to the Beast Husband and leave.
Her feelings for Wanda didn’t quite surge with maternal love.
There wasn’t that deep-seated attachment, nor the legendary instinctive guard that erupts post childbirth.
Sometimes, watching the little face in the swaddle, she would briefly feel dazed.
Is this truly my child?
But she knew, she gave birth to her, it was her and Caleb Shaw’s child.
If not for the system’s daily urging, like an alarm clock going off punctually in her ear.
"Hurry up! Before you get pregnant again, quickly have another! There is still capacity for reproduction, don’t waste it! The next offspring will have higher potential!"
She truly wished to dive into raising her child, not going anywhere.
Even if just quietly accompanying Wanda, watching her babble and swinging her little hands, listening to her ambiguous mumble, it would be better than being rushed by the system.
She had long known that her life was highly likely destined to be a breeding machine.
From the moment she was bound to the system, her fate was tied to reproduction, data, and the optimization of offspring.
But now... it was not about acceptance, just a weary compromise amidst numbness.
"Wanda is a female baby, of course, she takes after her mom."
Alza held the child, his face full of smiles.
"Look at this little nose, this brow and eyes, simply carved from the same mold. She will definitely be as beautiful as you in the future."
Selene Kane smiled slightly at those words, the warmth faint.
She raised her gaze towards the window, sunlight filtering through the treetops.
She softly said, "Looking like Caleb Shaw is fine too."
Caleb Shaw’s face, lines were sharp.
Broad shoulders, long legs, standing there, imposing, just a strikingly handsome figure.
If her daughter also inherited his outline, coupled with piercing eyes.
Becoming a valiant Female Official.
Alza listened but seemed slightly unhappy, holding the child a bit tighter.
"Female Master, Wanda is a girl. How can she follow Shaw around recklessly? Handling guns and cannons all the time, how dangerous! Moreover, the training ground is not a gentle place, physical suffering is inevitable."
"Girls, should be loved and pampered, that’s just fine."
He paused, his voice softening.
"We’ll pamper her, hold her dear, and protect her, make her a little Princess. She won’t need to worry about anything, food will come to her, clothes will be ready, and she’ll play happily every day."
Selene Kane just smiled without speaking.
Her gaze drifted to the teacup, the steam rising, blurring her features.
She sipped the tea, the scent fresh, sliding down her throat.
She didn’t say whether it was right or wrong.
The smile never reached her eyes.
When she first moved in, Selene Kane felt everywhere seemed off in this place.
The eyes of neighbors were often scrutinizing.
The hushed voices of street gossip always seemed to find a way into her ears.
An air of secret hostility lingered.
But she couldn’t be bothered to make a fuss, didn’t want to expend effort and energy on these trivialities.
As long as her partners behaved, avoiding trouble, she let other matters go.
After all, she didn’t care for fame nor needed to curry favor to secure her position.
Overhead, a deep rumbling was heard.
The sound approached, shaking the window glass slightly.
Selene Kane looked up, seeing a gigantic object slowly descending through the clouds.
The vessel was entirely pitch black, edges gleaming with cold metal.
The ship was absurdly large, almost blocking out half the sky.
Selene Kane thought it was Caleb Shaw coming back.
Only his ship was so grand, only he would make such a dramatic entrance.
She instinctively stood up.
The butler entered the room.
He first bowed to her.
"Greetings, Female Master."
Ever since Wanda was born, the butler held her in high regard, wishing to hold her up in reverence.
Whenever he saw her, he would formally greet, "Miss Wanda."
He would deliberately squat down to see the child eye-to-eye.
But towards Alza, he didn’t offer a proper greeting, merely nodding slightly, not even meeting eyes.
The dismissive air was almost written on his face.
Alza stood aside, holding Wanda, his expression calm.
As Alza and Zane never formally married, they weren’t considered the masters of the house.
Their names weren’t on the family finances.
The truly recognized ones were the three, Selene Kane, Caleb Shaw, and Wanda Shaw.
No matter how others acted, they were just secondary.
Once out of favor, or without children to back them up, even the servants wouldn’t take them seriously.
Now Caleb Shaw had a child, it was a different story from those who kept him company.
