Chapter 223: Chapter 223: Internal Conflicts of the Blood Clan_1

Aiden had just begun to consider this possibility when he quickly realized it was unlikely.

Five years ago, the Blood Moon Cult led by "Mr. Bloodclothes" from behind the scenes had been thoroughly dismantled by the heretic inquisition of Silvertown, and all cult members apart from the mastermind himself had been killed. Even if there were other remaining affiliates, after being thoroughly investigated by the inquisition and another five years passing, they should have long since scattered like birds and beasts.

In other words, for Mr. Bloodclothes, the banner of "Blood Red Full Moon" no longer held any value. Raising it again would only alert the inquisition, bringing him harm rather than benefits.

Most importantly, Melifilia had mentioned that Mr. Bloodclothes’ goal was supposedly to eradicate the existence of "Aiden Galahad" to complete the last ascension ritual of the "Hatred" authority. If he had finally found a way to complete it, he would have come directly for him rather than wasting time forming any cult.

So, the activities of the Blood Moon Cult that Kael had mentioned, were they unrelated to that person?

At that moment, the words Abigail had told him when she visited previously surfaced in Aiden’s mind.

Abigail had said that the Blood Moon Cult was actually a long-existing organization formed by vampires and humans seeking immortality, worshipping the deity of death. Two hundred years ago, after an attempt to seize the fertility authority led to the severe wounding of the deity of death, the cult quickly declined.

Related to the vampires... Kael too was a vampire prince. Could it be that the "genuine" Blood Moon Cult was the one he stood before?

"The Blood Moon Cult started operating again half a year ago, and I’ve been monitoring them since then. They were active in Gistas and just this month, they suddenly moved to the autonomous state," Kael continued to explain. "I followed them to the autonomous state and happened to hear about Ophelia’s previous arrest here."

Active in Gistas, and moved to the autonomous state this month?

Aiden suddenly realized something.

This operational track was very similar to that of the Harvest Mother Cult, even the timing roughly matched.

After the case of the Harvest Mother Cult was closed, the inquisition reported a strange incident.

The original body of Sister Neve left at the scene had traces of being harvested by a vampire.

If this act was not done by some lower-rung vampire who just happened to pass by and was so hungry it didn’t even spare a corpse, it was very likely done to confirm the divine nature retained within that body.

Sister Neve was the true leader of the Harvest Mother Cult, a fact unknown to the public.

But if someone had witnessed with their own eyes the battle between Sister Neve and the three Great Witches at the abandoned mine, anyone with enough understanding of the power of the "Fertility" authority should have been able to guess this fact.

In other words, perhaps someone had always been secretly monitoring the activities of the Harvest Mother Cult and... it was very likely this original Blood Moon Cult.

Of course, all of this was conjecture, and everything was based on the premise that "everything Kael Callado said was trustworthy."

Aiden realized that he could not fully trust the words of the vampire prince before him, and he could not yet dismiss the possibility that Kael had approached him with some ulterior motive.

If by chance, the one secretly observing the Harvest Mother Cult and harvesting blood from Sister Neve’s body was actually him... 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

But no matter what, when Aiden heard the four words "blood red full moon" from the other’s mouth, he couldn’t just ignore it.

"You say you’re acting to stop them, what do you mean by that?" Aiden tried asking Kael, "Do you have some conflict with them?"

"We’re part of different factions, you could say," Kael shrugged, "Within the bloodlines, there are actually two factions: one is the ’Death God Cult’ that worships the god of death—they’re the ones who established the Blood Moon Cult. The other is the ’Primogenitor Faction’ like me, following the bloodline ancestors. The two factions have some contradictions and have always been at odds."

Hearing this, Aiden finally could confirm that the "Blood Moon Cult" Kael mentioned must be the original one referred to by Abigail.

After all, the Blood Moon Cult that the Heretic Inquisition Bureau had dismantled five years ago hardly had any bloodlines within it.

Aiden let out a slight sigh of relief, then realized that even if it was unrelated to that "Mister Bloodcoat," having such a dangerous group start to operate in Silvertown was not something he could just listen to and let go of.

Moreover, this Death God-worshipping Blood Moon Cult seemed to be targeting the Harvest Mother Cult, and if one were to speak frankly, it was the Harvest Mother Cult that had been destroyed by his own hands.

"It’s understandable for the bloodlines to follow their ancestors, but why worship the Death God?" Aiden asked.

"The curse that our ancestors suffered from is said to originate from the Death God," Kael replied, "So there are quite a few bloodlines who hope to receive the Death God’s forgiveness, to eliminate their dependency on fresh blood and their fear of sunlight. But if you ask me, it’s a waste of effort; after all, I’ve never heard of any bloodline who has successfully rid themselves of the curse."

"So you chose to follow your ancestors?"

"Well..." Kael scratched his head, "I follow the ancestors because I once made a pact with him. After all, that my silly sister and I can ’live’ like this until now is all thanks to him."

From this, Aiden gleaned two pieces of information: one was that the ancestors of the bloodlines were still alive and seemed to be involved behind the scenes in the activities against the current Blood Moon Cult; the other was that the Kaordo siblings were likely to be the direct descendants converted by the Primogenitor himself.

"What happened in the past?" Aiden casually asked.

"That falls under personal privacy," Kael spread his hands with a smile, skirting the subject, "So, can you tell me now? The Blood Moon Cult that was active in the autonomous state five years ago, was it dealt with by the Heretic Inquisition Bureau?"

"That’s correct," Aiden nodded, "But the Blood Moon Cult back then was probably different from what you are referring to; inside, there were hardly any bloodlines, it was likely just a counterfeit cult borrowing the name."

"I see," Kael stroked his chin as if understanding something.

"So, this Blood Moon Cult, you say they’ve come to the autonomous state, what for?" Aiden asked Kael.

"I’m not entirely sure either, my instructions were to hinder whatever they are doing," Kael smiled, "I reckon these people are up to no good, so, since the warden here used to be with the Heretic Inquisition Bureau, why not..."

Aiden realized then, Kael had talked so much about the Blood Moon Cult after finding out he used to be a Judge with the Heretic Inquisition Bureau.

This guy intended to leak the news of the Blood Moon Cult’s activities in Silvertown to the Heretic Inquisition Bureau, to prompt the Bureau to take action against the cult—a similar strategy to how the witch coven dealt with the Harvest Mother Cult before.
