The Warden of Sexy Witches
Chapter 620 - 619: Proxy of the Saints_1
"Proxy?" Veronica’s eyes widened.
"Exactly. A ruler of authority and saint will possess a special ability, which is to appoint proxies," Aiden explained. "A ruler can designate multiple proxies, allowing them to use three weakened powers of authority, but the proxies must maintain the Divine Power they have obtained through rituals. A saint, on the other hand, can only appoint one proxy, who will be endowed with one of the saint’s blessing abilities."
The power granted by saints was not strong, but it was not without meaning. The enemy probably didn’t know much about the intelligence Veronica had mastered. If Veronica had some special power in hand, there might be a chance to catch the opponent off guard if the opportunity arose.
"You can actually do that?" Veronica was somewhat surprised.
"Yes, I have also been granted special power by the witch, Abigail, of the Witches’ Council. It is a blessing to be resurrected once after death. With this blessing, the body’s healing ability will be enhanced, and the blood will also cause harm to immortal creatures like vampires," Aiden explained. Then, remembering the process, he added casually, "However, the granting process was... somewhat bizarre. When her fingers penetrated my body, I felt goosebumps all over."
"Eh?" Veronica’s face turned pale in an instant.
What came to her mind was a scene that could potentially earn a work an obscenity label from official cultural reviews if described.
"But surprisingly, it didn’t hurt that much," Aiden chuckled.
Veronica’s face turned even paler.
"Have you misunderstood something?" Aiden noticed Veronica’s change in complexion. "She really cut off her finger and gave it to me, and then that finger fused into my flesh."
"So, that’s what happened." Veronica breathed a sigh of relief, but when she saw Aiden’s hand, her face turned white again, "Commander, do you also need to... cut off a finger?"
"No, each power of authority is different, and the granting process differs as well. The ’Life’ granting involves the saint giving a part of their own flesh to the proxy because the saint’s flesh can regenerate. However, for the ’Order’ power, I just need to proclaim with the ’Law’ once," Aiden explained. "But I haven’t tried appointing a proxy before, so I’m not sure what kind of power you will have after the granting."
After becoming a saint, the method to grant powers to a proxy surfaced naturally in Aiden’s consciousness, as if it were an inborn instinct that didn’t require learning.
But he wasn’t quite sure how much of his own power the proxy would receive.
Abigail’s resurrection ability was also just a part of her own power after all.
"Then please grant it to me," Veronica said without hesitation.
She wouldn’t hesitate on this matter. Only by obtaining this power would she have a chance to step into the world Aiden was a part of and be of some use to him—this was also her own wish.
Aiden spoke the divine words of the "Law," and then looked at Veronica, saying, "I decree, you shall become my proxy, and exert my powers."
Veronica closed her eyes as if meditating, trying to feel that invisible force, but even after several seconds passed and she reopened her eyes, she felt nothing.
"I don’t feel anything..." Veronica said, bewildered.
"We can try to figure it out, the proxy’s power should be a portion of the three abilities," Aiden said. "A proxy’s power doesn’t require speaking divine words to activate because, essentially, the power of a proxy should be considered an effect of the saint’s divine words. First, let’s try ’Restoration,’ the power to make all things orderly."
"How should we try that?" Veronica asked nervously.
"Uh..." Aiden smiled hesitantly, "You could try using the power to fix the collar of your dress."
Following Aiden’s gaze downward, Veronica only then noticed that her collar was still open—during her rampage, she had torn off her own buttons, thankfully not to an embarrassingly revealing extent.
But reminded in such a way, Veronica’s cheeks flushed with redness.
She raised her hand to tidy up her collar and tentatively said, "Resto... Restoration?"
Nothing happened.
Her face turned redder.
"It seems not." Aiden said with a smile as he spoke the divine word "Return," helping Veronica fix her collar.
"The officer is bullying people." Veronica looked away with some dissatisfaction.
"It’s an experiment, this time let’s try ’rules’." Aiden indicated for Veronica to continue.
"Which rule should we use?" Veronica felt somewhat at a loss.
"Imagine confining the field around this table, then declare a more intuitive rule and see what happens," said Aiden.
"So, declare a rule, within the field..." Veronica couldn’t think of a suitable rule and panicked for a moment, before blurting out, "Gravity becomes ineffective."
Aiden, upon hearing this, paid close attention to his feelings but didn’t sense any loss of gravity. He then tried to pour tea out of his cup, and the tea flowed straight onto the table.
"It seems not." Aiden shook his head, using "Return" to put the spilt tea back into the cup.
But this time, Veronica stared with wide eyes, held her breath, and then after a long while managed to squeeze out a voice: "Officer."
"Veronica?" Aiden noticed that Veronica looked a bit strange.
"I feel like... I’m constantly falling." Veronica was gasping heavily as she spoke.
"You’ve lost gravity!" Aiden immediately realized.
Humans are creatures accustomed to living under the influence of gravity and the balance of supporting forces; once gravity is lost, the supporting force also vanishes, leading to a sensation of endless free-falling.
Veronica panicked and moved slightly, resulting in her entire body floating up from the chair.
This abnormal state left her at a loss, and as she tried to adjust her posture without finding any points of resistance, she slowly drifted up toward the ceiling like a balloon.
Aiden quickly reached out and grabbed her hand to pull her back to him.
"Try canceling the rule," Aiden reminded Veronica.
"Rule, cancel the rule!" Veronica attempted to declare.
Gravity returned to her immediately, making her fall, and Aiden promptly caught her in his arms.
"I think I understand." Aiden observed this scene, nodding thoughtfully, "The rule you declared only works for you personally."
The power bestowed upon proxies by the Saint of "Order" is a set of special rules that can be declared effective on oneself; it doesn’t have the force of outward projection, but the ability of "rules" itself has broad applicability.
Veronica could cause the physical laws that apply to herself to twist, could suitably alter her body’s condition—including suppressing lycanthropy—and could also implant a "rule" similar to a program, making her body act according to that program.
It’s still a decent ability; if used properly, it might even do something against the power of mental control.
