This Is Not a Bug but a Game Feature
Chapter 368 - 234: Cultivation Fantasy, Launch!
A month passed in the blink of an eye.
During this month, Tianba Studio updated a ton of content for "Cultivation Fantasy" and tested the stability and reliability of the payment channels.
At this point, everything was ready!
As promotional ads flooded the internet and players who reserved the game received notification texts about the public launch, the highly anticipated Xianxia MMORPG "Cultivation Fantasy" finally launched its servers.
"[Tianba Technology] A new Xianxia-themed online game ’Cultivation Fantasy’ is here with a bang! Continuous public testing benefits, a seven-day sign-in reward of a Divine Beast mount, limited-time access to a million-dollar luxury gift pack, click the link to download now: www.tianba.***/xzhx520 "
"What kind of junk text is this?"
Dr. Qin looked at the text he just received, feeling utterly speechless.
Even though he had set up a junk text blocker, why was he still receiving these meaningless junk promotional texts?
Oh, now he remembered!
When he participated in a lottery event on the Tianba Community earlier, he seemed to have made a reservation for "Cultivation Fantasy." The game reservation required a phone number, no wonder he received the text!
Dr. Qin recalled coming across videos and images related to the second test of "Cultivation Fantasy" while scrolling through posts, and he was instantly filled with curiosity.
Did it launch the public test this quickly?
He thought the game wouldn’t go online until next year at the earliest, but unexpectedly, it already launched a public test in December.
Dr. Qin is not actually a doctor.
In his family, he’s from a generation where the names start with "Bo." His grandpa hoped he would become a doctor, hence the name Dr. Qin. Unfortunately, he let his grandpa down, and not to mention a doctorate, he didn’t even get into a bachelor’s program.
With his parents’ support, Dr. Qin opened a supermarket in his hometown county, and his life was fairly good, making a few hundred thousand yuan a year wasn’t a problem.
Unmarried as of yet, his biggest hobby was playing games, and since the supermarket had employees, he, as the boss, didn’t have much to do on regular days.
Learning that "Cultivation Fantasy" had launched its public test, Dr. Qin was quite interested.
Fun fact: the reason he let his grandpa’s expectations down, and didn’t even get into a bachelor’s program, was because he was obsessed with an MMO game during high school.
The name of that game was "Demon Realm"!
Many people might not have heard of or played this game, but it was Dr. Qin’s youth and a game he remembers vividly to this day.
Because of this experience, he actually has a special sentiment towards MMO games, always finding other games to be somewhat lacking.
He also played League of Legends and Honor of Kings, but that was just to kill time and team up with friends; if he had to choose, he still preferred the immersive experience of MMOs.
"It’s just launched, might as well give it a try!"
If "Cultivation Fantasy" were an old game, Dr. Qin probably wouldn’t be too interested, but this was a newly launched game on public test.
A new game, and it’s an MMORPG, which he particularly enjoyed, so it was indeed worth playing!
After downloading the game client on his computer, Dr. Qin immediately logged into his Tianba Account.
Server selection: "Daluo Illusion Realm"!
He didn’t really know which server to choose, and selected "Daluo Illusion Realm" mainly because he liked the name, and the server status was "Full."
When playing these MMO games, there’s a trick in server selection, which is that it’s better to queue for a busy server than to make a new character on a quiet one!
MMOs are about the excitement of having lots of people; too few people on a dead server, and the game becomes less interesting, a truth acknowledged by both Dr. Qin’s own experience and the online gaming community at large.
The new server had just launched, requiring players to queue to enter.
Dr. Qin glanced at the queue number; it wasn’t bad, only over thirty thousand people, so it should take about ten minutes to get in.
During this time, he opened the Nobug Platform, clicked into the Tianba Community, and started looking at recommendations for professions and essential beginner guides.
These were all contributed by players from the second test...
Dr. Qin hadn’t played the second test, so he was a newbie among newbies. Before entering the game, he had to understand the general situation of the game, especially the advantages and disadvantages of each profession.
"Are they all recommending Alchemy?"
Dr. Qin took a look and felt that the guides made a lot of sense. The Alchemy path could indeed save a lot of resources early on and be self-sufficient in supplies.
The only problem was that there were too many alchemy players. With all the guides recommending Alchemy, the profession would surely be overcrowded after entering the game.
"Beast Taming seems pretty good?"
After looking at several guide posts, Dr. Qin had an idea. He didn’t plan to follow the crowd and play Alchemy, Talisman Making, or Array because he felt these schools were too popular and homogeneous.
If he was going to play, he’d play something different.
The introduction to the Beast Taming Sect suited him well. This sect focused on Beast Taming, capturing and raising pets, with the main goal to enhance the battle strength of spirit pets while his own battle power didn’t matter.
This was similar to the "Summoner" class he often encountered in many MMO games, where the character themselves are weak, but the summoned creatures become stronger each time.
This one’s good, this one’s good!
Seeing that with the rise in Cultivation Realm within the Beast Taming Sect, the number of summonable spirit pets also increased, Dr. Qin already envisioned himself later on, summoning dozens of spirit pets to overpower the opponent.
Simply ruthless!
But Dr. Qin loved this ruthless feeling of not playing fair; having more people to bully the fewer was something he thoroughly enjoyed.
After choosing a profession, the rest was about understanding the basic game situation and what to pay attention to in the early stages.
"Karma, huh?"
After reading through a few guides and seeing everyone repeatedly emphasizing the importance of Karma, Dr. Qin immediately remembered this point.
