Tiny Genius Alert! Mom & Dad Better Make Peace
Chapter 898 - 128: So You’re This Rich [Second Update]
Gu Yan narrowed his eyes, and couldn’t help feeling a bit relieved on Yige’s behalf.
"Sister Xiao Yi, I actually have a few apartments under my name you could live in. Just pick one and move in. Why bother going through all the hassle of buying? I can’t live in all of them by myself anyway." The car pulled up in front of a well‑known real estate agency, and Gu Yan spoke while looking at Yige through the rearview mirror.
Yige raised her brows. "Are you showing off your wealth to me right now?"
"Me, showing off? I’m the poorest among the few of us, okay? Ugh, I’m so poor, why am I this poor?"
"...Drop the act!" Tang Yige rolled her eyes. "Don’t think I don’t know. Just this car alone is worth tens of millions, and that steering wheel you’re holding is probably worth over a million. You’re the real invisible rich guy among us! And you’re here whining about being broke!"
Gu Yan gave a cheeky grin. "Aiya, you saw through me."
Tang Yige, "..."
"Uncle Gu, so you’re actually this rich?" Little Rui looked at Gu Yan with starry eyes.
"Of course!" Gu Yan lifted his chin and unbuckled his seat belt. "Come on, your lord and master will accompany you in there for a stroll."
"Uncle Gu, between you and my dad, who has more money?" Little Rui asked a very practical question.
Gu Yan thought about it and said, "Your dad."
"My dad?" Little Rui’s eyes widened.
"Mm." Gu Yan nodded seriously. "So, kiddo, treat your dad well. When your dad passes on someday, all his assets will be yours."
Tang Yige, Zhang Lan, "..."
"What about yours?" Little Rui asked.
"Mine will of course go to my son."
"...How do you know it’ll definitely be a son?"
"Any child of mine has to be a son!"
"What if it’s a daughter?"
"If it’s a daughter, I’ll marry my daughter off to you."
Little Rui, "..."
Looking at Little Rui’s face suddenly going awkward, Gu Yan burst out laughing.
Tang Yige had already gotten out of the car. She bent down and reached out a hand to Little Rui. "Little Rui, come."
Little Rui wriggled his chubby body toward her, grabbed her hand, and got out of the car.
Zhang Lan stayed seated in the car. Seeing Tang Yige holding Little Rui’s hand and walking around the front of the car, she hurriedly called out to Gu Yan, who was in the driver’s seat about to open the door. "Mr. Gu."
Gu Yan paused and turned to look at Zhang Lan. "What?"
Zhang Lan quickly glanced at Tang Yige and Little Rui outside the car, then pulled a slip of paper from her pocket and thrust it toward the front. "Mr. Gu."
"..." Gu Yan was stunned.
"Mr. Gu, hurry, take it."
Zhang Lan anxiously urged Gu Yan while nervously peeking at Yige and Little Rui waiting outside the car.
The corner of Gu Yan’s eye twitched. He reached out and took the note from Zhang Lan.
"This is the address of the apartment. Mr. Gu, I won’t say more. You’re a smart man, you should know what to do."
Once Zhang Lan finished, afraid that Yige would suspect something, she pushed open the car door and got out.
Leaving Gu Yan alone in the car, holding the note Zhang Lan had handed him, utterly bewildered.
She just gave him an address and said he knew what to do?
How was he supposed to know what to do?
But could Gu Yan just openly say he had no idea?
No, he couldn’t!
Because Zhang Lan had already said he’s a smart man.
If he told her he had no clue what she meant, wouldn’t that be completely humiliating?
His super high IQ would never allow him to let others think he’s stupid!
...
Sales office manager’s office.
"Manager Liu, I’d like a four‑bedroom place, in a good location. Ideally, there’d be a fully equipped school nearby. Of course that’s not a hard requirement, but there’s one thing: transportation has to be convenient. That way even if there’s no school nearby, it’ll still be easy for me to send my kid to school." Yige told the manager what she wanted in a home.
"Do you have any requirements for the size of the apartment?" Manager Liu asked.
"Of course. The bigger the better. Each bedroom needs to be a decent size, and the living room has to be spacious too. After all, there’s a kid. If it’s too small, they’ll feel cramped playing around." Yige said.
"I understand." Manager Liu jotted down Yige’s requirements. "In that case, Miss Tang, we’ll look for a property that meets your conditions, and as soon as there’s news we’ll contact you right away to come see it. How does that sound?"
"Roughly how long will that take? I’m in a bit of a hurry." Tang Yige said.
"Mm, no more than three days." Manager Liu replied.
Tang Yige pressed her lips together, thought for a moment, and said, "All right, then."
After they came out of the agency, Gu Yan felt like Zhang Lan had been staring at him the whole time. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Gu Yan shoved both hands into his pockets, one of them pinching the note Zhang Lan had stuffed into his hand.
He thought, could it be that Zhang Lan wants Yige to buy the apartment at the address she just gave me?
Why?
Gu Yan fixed his gaze on Zhang Lan.
Zhang Lan started sweating.
Looks like Little Rui was right—this Mr. Gu does seem a bit slow in the head.
Afraid Yige would notice anything odd between her and Gu Yan, Zhang Lan quietly shifted her gaze elsewhere.
"Little Yanzi, what are you looking at Aunt Zhang for?" Tang Yige looked at Gu Yan in puzzlement, then glanced over at Zhang Lan.
Black lines seemed to shoot out of the back of Zhang Lan’s head.
"...Oh, nothing." Gu Yan took a light breath and shrugged.
"Yeah?" Tang Yige frowned.
"What else could it be?" Gu Yan gave a sheepish laugh.
That was true.
Thinking that, Tang Yige got in the car with Little Rui first, planning to have Gu Yan take them to the amusement park.
Zhang Lan strolled past Gu Yan as if nothing was up, but when she slipped by him, she lowered her voice and spoke quickly. "The apartment is one Mr. Rong just bought not long ago."
With that, Zhang Lan hurried into the car as well.
Although Zhang Lan spoke quietly, Gu Yan still heard her clearly.
Two drops of sweat slid down Gu Yan’s forehead.
He finally pieced together what Zhang Lan was trying to say.
The apartment was bought by Brother Rong, but Yige doesn’t want any involvement with Brother Rong right now, so she definitely wouldn’t agree to live in his place.
Now that she knows Yige is looking to buy a home, she wants to "sell" their own apartment to Yige...
Once he understood what Zhang Lan meant, Gu Yan felt this suddenly became much easier to handle.
Gu Yan stood outside the car for a few seconds, deliberately sniffed, then walked around the front of the car, slid into the driver’s seat, and shut the door.
While buckling his seat belt, Gu Yan said, "Sister Xiao Yi, I suddenly remembered I have a friend who’s selling a place right now."
Tang Yige looked up at Gu Yan, her eyes asking for more.
Gu Yan straightened up, checked the rearview mirror, licked his lower lip, and said, "That friend of mine just finished renovating and hasn’t moved in yet. Suddenly, because of work, he has to go abroad for a few years, and he’s taking his whole family with him. I guess he’s not sure if he’ll ever come back, so he put the place on the market. Are you interested? If you are, I can call him right now and we can go take a look."
"Yeah?" Tang Yige blinked, a little intrigued. She asked Gu Yan, "Then do you know where your friend’s place is? Is the location good, is the transportation convenient? How’s the compound environment? The landscaping’s decent, right? And the parking spaces, are they all..."
"Ahem, ahem, ahem."
Gu Yan was starting to feel out of his depth.
How would he know any of that? He’d never even been there, and had no idea what the situation was.
Seeing him cough, Tang Yige stopped and stared at him.
"Cough, cough..." Gu Yan stole a glance at Yige in the rearview mirror and faked two more coughs before saying, "Sister Xiao Yi, I’m not exactly sure either. But that friend of mine’s pretty loaded, so the place he bought should be decent. How about I take you over to see it now? You can judge for yourself if it works, if it’s good enough, okay?"
Hmm...
Tang Yige lowered her lashes, thought for a while, then nodded. "Okay!"
Gu Yan quickly shot Zhang Lan a sideways glance and smiled. "All right then, I’ll call my friend right now and have him go over and wait for us."
"Mm."
Hearing Yige agree, Zhang Lan let out a tiny sigh of relief in her heart.
Right after, she pulled out her phone from her bag, turned her body slightly away from Yige and Little Rui, and sent a message to Zhang Xu.
After she and Little Rui moved into the courtyard house, because it was a bit far from where Zhang Xu worked, she didn’t ask Zhang Xu to move in. Zhang Xu still lived in the apartment at Jinxiu Huadu.
So she had to hurry and text her, tell her to go home and tidy up, so that when Yige came to view the apartment later, she wouldn’t notice anything off.
"Aunt Zhang, what are you doing?"
The little smart‑aleck Little Rui saw Zhang Lan facing away from him, acting all secretive. He put one chubby hand on her arm and craned his small head to look.
Zhang Lan’s hand shook, and she shot Little Rui a sideways look.
Seeing Little Rui staring fixedly at her phone, his fair, chubby little face full of curiosity and confusion—
Only then did Zhang Lan remember that Little Rui... couldn’t read!
Zhang Lan immediately relaxed, quickly finished typing and sent the message, then calmly slipped the phone back into her pocket and sat up straight.
Little Rui narrowed his big eyes and stared at Zhang Lan suspiciously.
Zhang Lan pretended not to notice.
Meanwhile, Gu Yan had already dialed the number of that so‑called "friend" of his who was about to move abroad with his whole family.
