Chapter 73: Chapter 73: Coffee

The air in the coffee shop was filled with the bitter yet mellow aroma of coffee.

Looking into the young woman’s calm, tea-colored eyes, Feng Qi wondered why the coffee suddenly seemed to taste even more bitter.

He blinked slowly, suppressing all those emotions. "Jiang Yuyu, want to guess how old I am this year?"

Jiang Zheyu didn’t know why the topic had suddenly changed, but she played along and ventured a guess. "Thirty-seven?"

She guessed that because Su Yan was thirty-seven, and Feng Qi was probably the same age as him.

Interstellar people could live to be three or four hundred years old, so thirty-seven was still considered very young.

In any case, to Jiang Zheyu, their youthful appearances made them look like young men in their twenties from Ancient Earth.

Feng Qi hadn’t expected Jiang Zheyu to guess correctly on her first try, but he quickly understood. Jiang Yuyu probably knew that he and Su Yan had attended the same military academy.

"I wouldn’t have asked if I’d known you’d guess right away." Feng Qi frowned. ’That’s disgusting,’ he thought. "Now I have to be reminded that bastard Su Yan is the same age as me."

He looked at Jiang Zheyu and added, "But we were in the same class at the academy, so being the same age makes sense."

"So you and A yuan were in the same class." Jiang Zheyu’s interest was piqued. "What was Su Yan like at the academy?"

Seeing the curious, bright light in her eyes, Feng Qi’s loathing for Su Yan deepened by another degree. Then again, he’d loathed the man for so many years that one more degree hardly made a difference.

"I wouldn’t know. I never paid attention to him." Feng Qi would absolutely never say a good word about Su Yan. He watched Jiang Zheyu quietly. "Actually, I was also one of the top students in my class at the academy."

As he spoke, he propped his chin on one hand and looked at Jiang Zheyu. "If you’re interested, you can look at my matching profile. Everything on there is true."

Of course, that also included the record of his unstable spiritual power.

Thinking of this, his expression grew complicated. ’I wonder if Jiang Yuyu will look down on me for that?’

But he was determined to present all his circumstances truthfully on his matching profile. He disdained hiding anything.

Hearing Feng Qi say this, Jiang Zheyu’s curiosity was genuinely stirred.

"Alright, I’ll take a look." And with that, Jiang Zheyu actually started pulling it up on her Light Brain.

Feng Qi was naturally happy to let her. He wanted her to get to know him better.

She really did look at Feng Qi’s matching profile.

And she discovered that he was indeed quite outstanding.

His various distinguished military merits and medals couldn’t even fit on a single page of the Light Brain’s display.

"You were a Commander before?" Jiang Zheyu saw on his resume that he had been the Commander of the Fourth Legion. He had even held the position for nine years, which meant he had become the chief Commander of the Fourth Legion in his twenties.

"What? Don’t I look like I could have been a Commander?" Feng Qi couldn’t help but chuckle at Jiang Yuyu’s surprised expression.

"No, that’s not it." Jiang Zheyu was simply surprised. "I’m just curious why you chose to come back and be the Inspector Team Captain now."

Feng Qi looked at her, his ink-black eyes glinting with an unreadable emotion. He knew she hadn’t reached the page about his unstable spiritual power yet, or she wouldn’t have asked that question.

RAT-A-TAT-TAT!

The sound of a spray of bullets echoed through the room.

The coffee shop instantly descended into chaos.

Some people screamed, while others tripped and fell to the floor, wailing as they tried to run.

Before Jiang Zheyu could even react, Feng Qi had already grabbed her hand, pulled her down into a crouch, and instantly flipped the coffee table to use as a shield in front of them.

Four masked thugs dressed all in black and holding guns walked in. "Everyone who doesn’t want to die, get down!"

After entering, they immediately pushed all the tables and chairs near the entrance to barricade the door.

The Imperial Army arrived outside almost instantly.

"To the criminals inside! If you release the people, we can let you leave!" The amplified voice from a loudspeaker carried into the shop.

Jiang Zheyu’s heart pounded. ’How could I be so unlucky? Why did we have to run into thugs?’

"You bastards outside, if you dare come any closer, I’ll kill everyone in here!" one of the thugs shouted arrogantly, grabbing a nearby woman and shoving her against the window. "Hahaha, there are a lot of females in here! If you don’t want all these females to die, you’d better get a spaceship and five million Star Coins ready for us."

"We’ve already sent people to prepare them," the voice of a Beastman from the army replied through the loudspeaker. "As long as you don’t kill anyone, we can let you leave safely."

Inside the coffee shop, the thug just sneered and roughly pushed the female aside.

"All females over here, all males over there," the thug ordered coldly. "Everyone get down on the ground with your hands on your heads."

Feng Qi gently squeezed Jiang Zheyu’s palm and glanced at her, mouthing the words, "Don’t be afraid. I’m here."

Jiang Zheyu was indeed scared, but as she looked into Feng Qi’s calm and steady ink-black eyes, her heart seemed to settle a little.

Everyone followed the thug’s orders, splitting into two groups and crouching on the ground.

Jiang Zheyu noticed that while there were females in the coffee shop, there weren’t many. Including herself, there were only five females in total.

On the other side, there were over a dozen Male Beastmen.

And with so few people on the females’ side, each person stood out more.

Like the other females, Jiang Zheyu crouched down with her hands on her head, bowing so low she was practically trying to bury her head in her chest. ’Don’t see me, don’t see me.’

"You, get over here!"

The thug violently yanked up the female next to Jiang Zheyu, who was trembling uncontrollably.

"No, please don’t kill me." After being pulled to her feet, the young woman trembled even more violently.

"It’ll take them some time to get everything ready, so let’s play a little game," the thug said with a vicious grin.

When Jiang Zheyu heard that the thug wanted to play a game, she felt a strange sense of unease.

Just now, the thugs had demanded a spaceship and Star Coins from the people outside, so it seemed like their motive was money and escape.

’Shouldn’t they be extremely tense and on high alert? How are they in the mood to play games?’

’Besides, if they wanted money, shouldn’t they have robbed the Imperial City Bank?’

’Maybe the Imperial City Bank is too hard to rob, and this coffee shop has females to use as better bargaining chips?’

She remembered how the thugs had suddenly rushed in and started shooting. Several Beastmen were already down inside the coffee shop, so why would they care if there were females or not?

They were just a gang of desperados who clearly didn’t care about anyone else’s life, or even their own.

’But if they were desperados trying to create panic, wouldn’t they have just shot everyone and been done with it? Why bother with some game?’

Jiang Zheyu felt like her brain wasn’t working right.

"This game is called: Male and Female Role Reversal."

"We’re going to flip things around. The Male Beastmen become Male Masters, and the females become Female Slaves. So, Male Masters, however your Female Slaves abused you when they were Female Masters, that’s how you’re going to abuse them back."

"Hahaha, isn’t this game a lot of fun!"
