Transmigrated as Cannon Fodder — I Rise to Female Lead Through Hard Work
Chapter 283: Dai Chunsheng
"And your aunt’s husband will be here in a couple of days."
Ding Anguo was somewhat surprised. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"He said he has some matters, and he can return after the New Year," Li Honghua said. "Your aunt’s husband is getting a job transfer, it probably has something to do with this, but I don’t know the specifics."
"Aunt, please stop talking and take a good rest." Ding Anguo carried her on his back, while Dai Zhenhua supported her from the side, and the three of them walked towards Bright Alley.
Many onlookers had their eyes turn red watching the three of them walk away; working in a government unit doesn’t prevent one from having troublesome relatives.
Anyone who saw Li Honghua’s situation knew it wasn’t fake; she was enduring tremendous pain, which made people look down on the Li Family even more.
Although the three Li Family members initially escaped, they were later caught by the police. The police presented a series of evidence from Gui Province, and the human trafficker who dealt with the Li Family confessed everything, signing and confirming their statements. The three Li Family members were sent to the northwest for reformation, thus they disappeared from others’ views for good.
Li Honghua’s legs improved significantly after another acupuncture session by Yi Roujing, and after soaking her feet, she slept comfortably.
Dai Chunsheng arrived at Huaixi County on January 8th, the Laba Festival, alone. He went straight to Bright Alley and knocked on the Ding Family’s door.
At that time, it was just past five o’clock; Ding Anguo opened the door, seeing the man outside in a green military coat, about half a century old, tall and sturdy.
"Aunt’s husband?" Ding Anguo called out with inquiry.
"It’s Anguo, right? I’m Dai Chunsheng." Dai Chunsheng proactively removed his right glove and extended his hand to Ding Anguo.
"Hello, Aunt’s husband, please come inside. Aunt and Dai Zhen are here, and we were just about to have dinner. Please come in and join us." Ding Anguo invited him into the living room.
Upon seeing him, Li Hongying and the others immediately stood up, followed by the younger ones.
"Dad." Dai Zhenhua was delighted to see Dai Chunsheng and went up to hook his arm.
"Mmm, Honghua, how are your legs?" Dai Chunsheng nodded to Dai Zhenhua and then went to Li Honghua’s side, squatting down to look at her legs.
"I’m fine. Roujing gives me acupuncture every three days, and I soak in herbal baths every night. It has improved a lot," Li Honghua said with a smile. "Quickly go and meet my younger sister and brother-in-law’s family."
What followed was a round of introductions. Dai Chunsheng wasn’t a man of many words, but he greeted everyone in a gentle manner. However, he couldn’t help but smile while greeting Xu Ancheng.
"The younger generation truly surpasses the old." Dai Chunsheng, full of admiration, said while shaking hands with Xu Ancheng, "This time I also came to personally take those two people back to East Province, but before that, I want to have a talk with them."
"When will you be free, Aunt’s husband? I’d like to go with you." Xu Ancheng responded readily.
"How about the day after tomorrow, Saturday?" Dai Chunsheng asked with a smile.
"I’m available anytime," Xu Ancheng replied.
Dai Chunsheng is set for a promotion after the New Year. He comes from a military background and a special department. When he first transitioned, he was the director of the municipal public security bureau for five years, then became a deputy mayor, and later moved into the transportation system. Now, he’s returning to public security.
Dai Chunsheng has already handed over his responsibilities in the transportation department to his successor. The work at the public security bureau will be handed over after the New Year, but before that, he came to Huaixi County because of orders from superiors related to the human trafficking and murder cases linked to East Province.
Initially, Dai Chunsheng’s knowledge of the Ding Family was based on his daughter, Dai Zhenhua’s investigation. After recognizing the Ding Family, Dai Zhenhua conducted further inquiries himself. He had a favorable impression of them and planned for long-term interactions after this direct involvement.
During the dinner, his wife, Li Honghua, was full of spirit and had a continuous smile on her face from start to finish. It was a rare sight for him to see her in such a state in recent years, so it was impossible not to be moved.
With Dai Chunsheng around, the Dai Family trio returned to Red Star Lane after dinner.
"Mom, you have nothing to worry about now. Aunt’s husband treats Aunt so well," Ding Anmin said while helping Li Hongying clean the table, continuing to praise Dai Chunsheng.
"His eyes were on Aunt most of the time anyway, just like how my big brother looks at my sister-in-law."
"Yes, I’m assured now," Li Hongying replied with a smile. "Big Sister has good fortune ahead. As her legs get better, her days will become increasingly comfortable."
Back in the room, Yi Roujing immediately inquired about Xu Ancheng’s situation, "Do all those people have ties to East Province? Have you found the source now?"
"More or less," Xu Ancheng nodded. "There’s some background, but this time they seem serious about taking action."
"You don’t have to worry anymore; things will soon be over," Xu Ancheng said as he helped make the bed, gently assisting Yi Roujing to lie down, giving her a kiss on the forehead, and urging her to sleep soon.
Although it was still early, Yi Roujing, who didn’t expect to fall asleep, quickly did.
It wasn’t long before the whole Ding Family knew about the Li Family’s affair, and without those troubles, life went on quite peacefully.
However, the Liu Family and Liao Family were in a bit of turmoil recently. The Liu sisters, Liu Molin and Liu Mohe, were caught red-handed, losing face completely. Meanwhile, Liu Mohe was nowhere to be found, and Liu Guangmao and his wife, after crying in seclusion at home for a while, clung to Liu Guangmei. It was all because she took away Liu Youning that such matters happened.
Liu Guangmei, unwilling to let the children be affected, found Yi Weiliang and sent Liu Youning and the two other children to Guangning Alley.
Compared to the Liu Family, the Liao Family was in a worse mess, mainly because Liao Yongzhong was present at the scene. Even though Liao Yongzhong was now sent for reformation, the Liao Family was far wealthier than the Liu Family, owning legitimate property in the county and having decent jobs.
With the Li Family’s case as a precedent, Liu Guangmao and his wife didn’t dare cause a big scene. Their motives were actually simple—they wanted jobs.
They also found out that Liao Shiqi’s wedding was this month. If they weren’t properly settled, the wedding might not even happen. Although Liao Yongzhong was down, Liao Shiqi’s job remained, and the Yin Family members were long-time employees at the power plant.
To settle matters and because a certificate was signed, the Yin Family intervened and got Liu Guangmao a temporary job at the power plant, and arranged for Lv Amei to work in the plant’s cafeteria. Finally, the family calmed down. With their livelihoods secure and a place to stay at the power plant, the couple no longer troubled the Liu, Liao, or Yin families; instead, they curried favor with them.
On January 16th, Liao Shiqi and Ye Xiangli’s wedding was held as scheduled, and Yi Roujing and Xu Ancheng attended the wedding feast at the power plant.
Yi Roujing had met Liao Shiqi a few times before, but this encounter felt different; he seemed to have aged five or six years but had become more stable. While toasting with Ye Xiangli, the two looked even more compatible than before.
