Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game
Chapter 315: Hollow Mountains [ 4 ]
Jenna glanced over at me, her expression practically asking me if that was okay. Obviously, I wasn’t some masochist who wouldn’t let someone shower, so I just gave her a pat on the head and nodded.
"Feel free to do whatever you want. Stick closely to Clementine too. Humans aren’t very fond of demons, and I doubt that’ll ever change. So until then, watch yourself, Jenna. As for your wings... I’m glad you managed to retract them."
Frankly, I had my worries about what would happen if too many people saw, but by the looks of things, whenever she was nervous or anxious, her wings would just disappear by themselves. It was kind of cute in a way, though I’d much prefer if she could do it subconsciously.
Regardless of that, she listened to me well, and soon enough, the three of us entered the city, ignoring the rubble as well as the fallen Kevin. He should be fine soon enough, right after his spine and the rest of his bones regenerate.
Honestly, I might just need to come back later and scoop him up, but for the time being, I wanted to enjoy my time with the person I loved. So while Jenna walked ahead of us and inspected everything with a lot of curiosity, I moved closer to Clementine, then took off my hood and changed my hair back to normal.
Not to mention, I also made sure to retract my horn, not wanting any more attention than I had already gathered.
And of course...
"I missed you."
"I missed you too," she replied.
She seemed a little distant, so I went ahead and interlocked my fingers with hers. That seemed to cheer her up a little, but I could still tell that something was bothering her.
"What’s up?" I asked.
Clementine remained silent for a moment, then said:
"I thought you were dead."
Her voice cracked slightly, and I realized now, more than ever, that I had worried her beyond belief.
"I’m sorry."
"Sorry for what? There’s nothing to be sorry about. It’s not your fault. It’s none of our faults. It’s just... everything happened so fast. We got trapped, then by the time we woke up, we were already fighting for our lives. Morr... he was the one who dealt the final blows to us."
The moment she uttered those words, she reached into her dimensional ring, pulling out a ring that we had found back in the catacombs, the same ring that would save her life once whenever she’s in trouble.
And as it so happens, that very same ring was now shattered and split into several different pieces.
"Had it not been for this, I would’ve been dead," she said. "When Morr struck me through the heart, this thing triggered, pushing my heart out of the way while also giving the illusion that my energy exploded out of my heart."
She paused for a moment. "It was tough getting back to the human realm. Even tougher was finding what was left of Aliyah and putting her back together. I had to use up all of my energy just to stitch her body back together, and since I didn’t know what else to do, I left her with her brother. I hope that’s enough solace for her brother..."
Before she could continue to blame herself for something she had no control over, I went ahead and placed my hand on her head, rubbing her silky crimson hair as I did my best to calm her down.
"Aliyah’s fine. I took her to Adam, and he’s in the midst of handling it. I was going to look for you right away, but I accidentally stumbled upon Vincent’s home, and... well, I killed him and kidnapped his daughter."
"..."
Clementine glanced up at me, slightly startled.
"Vincent’s gone...?"
"He is. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. A lot has happened in the past few weeks, and there’s a lot I want to tell you. Also... I realized that all the stuff I told you about the game was a lie. There’s actually much more to it than that."
And of course...
"Take this."
I took out one of the vials that contained a Titan’s heart and handed it to Clementine. She was still a little confused by the fact that I had actually killed Vincent, but regardless of that, she loved him enough to accept whatever happened.
And after accepting the vial, she just stared at it for a brief moment, trying to understand what it was. Realizing that she had no idea, I decided to give her a quick little hint. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"It’ll make you much stronger, and it’ll also unlock Aura. Oh, right... afterwards, I’m going to try unlocking Divine Energy for you. It might be possible. If it isn’t, I might be able to establish a connection within your Mind Realm that connects to my Divine Energy Realm."
Her brows furrowed. "I have no idea what you just said."
I let out a chuckle. "That’s fine. You’ll understand with time. After all, I’m planning to settle down and do nothing but train for the next couple of weeks. Of course, only if you’d let me."
"Obviously. You can do whatever you want. This city is yours as much as it is mine."
"Mmm..." I gave her a nod, then smiled slightly.
"Could you give me some of your enchanting gear, by the way? I want to enchant a few things for us."
She raised a brow. "Sure? Let’s first get that girl something to eat, and then I’ll take you to my home. Also, she doesn’t know that he’s dead, right?"
I shook my head. "I’d prefer it if she stayed in the dark for the time being. You see, she’s a little special. I’ll tell you more in a bit."
And with that, the two of us followed after the curious Jenna until finally, we reached a random restaurant. Jenna was the first to enter, and right afterwards, we did too.
