"It must be true! My little girl is a blessed child, after all. Lana’s pregnant!" Phoebe Huxley slapped her thigh, startling everyone in the room.

Everyone then remembered Tang Xiaonan’s new status—wasn’t she a blessed child?

Raina finally snapped out of her daze, spinning in circles with excitement. As she turned, she muttered, "She must be! Byron, check Lana’s pulse. See if it’s a pregnancy pulse!"

Frederick Thorne nodded eagerly. "Dad, hurry and check. Lana hasn’t been feeling well lately. It could be because she’s pregnant."

The smile on Byron Thorne’s face froze. ’If I really knew how to read a pregnancy pulse, I’d have opened my own clinic by now.’ But he didn’t want to lose face in front of his wife and son, so after a moment’s thought, he came up with an idea.

"What’s the rush? There’s a proper procedure for a diagnosis. We have to follow the steps. We can’t just jump ahead."

Byron Thorne spoke slowly and deliberately, giving him the air of a seasoned physician. He put on a show of examining Lana Steiner. ’Her complexion is terrible, and she’s so thin. She barely had an appetite at dinner, either. All classic symptoms of early pregnancy.’

"When was your last period?"

Lana Steiner’s face flushed red. She lowered her head, too embarrassed to answer. With her brothers-in-law there, how could she bring herself to say it?

Raina grew impatient. "You’re not a little girl anymore. What’s there to be shy about? Hurry up and tell us, when was it?"

"Her period is irregular; it’s common for it to be a couple of weeks late. Her last one was around the end of the month before last," Frederick Thorne answered for her, knowing his wife’s health like the back of his hand.

Raina pursed her lips. ’He’s more devoted to his wife than to his own mother. If men could give birth, my second son would probably do that too, letting Lana Steiner just sit back and become a mother without lifting a finger.’

Phoebe Huxley, however, was quite envious. ’Felix is a coarse and careless man. He never remembers when my period is due, and even when I’m sick, he never fusses over me. The most he’ll do is tell me to rest at home.’

’Lana Steiner is the lucky one. Even when she couldn’t have children, Frederick still treated her so well.’

"It’s already been more than two weeks. No need to check the pulse. She’s definitely pregnant. The two of you should go to the clinic tomorrow and get it confirmed."

Byron Thorne was already quite certain, which was why his tone was so firm. In truth, his greatest confidence came from his "blessed" granddaughter. ’A granddaughter guided by the gods wouldn’t be wrong.’

The ecstatic Frederick Thorne acted like a madman, grabbing Tang Xiaonan and tossing her into the air several times. He nearly scared her to death, and not even the promise of White Rabbit candy could soothe her terrified little soul.

Still, seeing the beaming smiles on Frederick Thorne’s and Lana Steiner’s faces made Tang Xiaonan happy too. ’I hope I’ve really changed the fate of my second uncle and aunt... and that of their poor little boy.’

"This medicine..." Raina hesitated. "Should we use it or not?"
