Inside an apartment, a man sitting on a chair beside a gleaming screen, playing a game called The Rotten One: Hard Leveling.

As the name says, it is a hard game in which the creators offered 400 million dollars to whoever completes it.

The man was actually in his bedroom, with a bed nearby him and a window made of wood and glass.

There were circles under his eyes. He only wore a black t-shirt and pants because he felt hot. His left leg was vibrating like a vibrating machine.

He used the keyboard faster; each click was sharp and created an unpleasant sound. His eyes were bloodshot because of lack of sleep.

Suddenly he gritted his teeth.

He twisted his face in fury.

His speed increased exponentially.

His finger joints were in pain.

But still he was focused on the screen.

A mosquito passed by his eyes, but his eyes didn’t shake.

Then the screen showed:

You have lost.

Immediately, he threw a punch at the screen. The screen broke. And the monitor fell to the floor. He kicked the processor. But he felt the pain, jumped up twice, and fell on the bed. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

His throat tightened up because he was about to win but lost, which took him 5 years of playing intensively to reach that level.

The game was not a common one; when you lost in it, you restarted from the beginning. It wasn’t his first time, but his third time, with a total playing time of over 1000 hours.

He was about to win.

Then a tear ran out of his left eye and dropped on the bed. It got wet.

"*Damn it!" he shouted.

"My money," he whispered.

Then his upper body moved up. He had an uncontrollable anger. He threw punches on the pillow. Once, twice again and tore it apart. His eyes were redder.

At that moment he was like a beast.

All this because he lost 400 million dollars. He used almost all his savings in his account to play the game and buy stuff, e.g., equipment, extra items.

Even though with all this he lost.

My money, my money, my money, my money.

And immediately, the rain fell. It was actually nighttime. He moved toward the window and looked through it.

Outside the apartment, there was a big tree nearby the gate of the hotel. His eyes widened and saw a lady who held an umbrella coming. At that moment the man swallowed his saliva with difficulty, because his throat was dry as a desert.

The bulb of the bedroom was on.

The gate was black in colour and the yard was littered with metallic objects and grass grew at the east direction.

As soon as she walked two steps, she felt someone was observing her.

She lifted her head up. In the man’s bedroom, the light flickered.

The man was like the monster from the movie called The form, but inside the house. The lady’s body trembled for a second and she walked faster, about 10 meters and walked upstairs.

At that moment the man spoke.

The owner. It’s the owner. It’s already time to pay the rent.

He then opened the white door, he moved 3 meters and took up his phone on the Sofa. His hands trembling. He was sweating. Then he looked at his account balance on his phone.

Account balance: $15.

Then he quickly swapped to another account.

Card balance: -$1000.

Immediately, he threw his phone away and held up his face.

No. No, what did I do with my money?

The man was jobless since a few months ago. He thought today was the day he would become a multi-millionaire, and he spent roughly all through the week.

Now his card account is in the negative. Now he is a debtor. And then the bell rang. Someone was at the door.

Immediately, he remembered he invested in crypto known as Dogecoin.

He ignored the bell.

Immediately, his friend called him.

Friend: bro you invested in Doge, right?

The man: Yes, 800,000 dollars.

Friend: Musk fooled us. It has dropped to zero.

His phone fell to the floor.

His throat tightened up more than before. No way to talk.

He was as if he were dying.

Furthermore the ceiling leaked rain near him, which echoed the words his friends said. And when he opened the door, as the owner was about to speak but the man said

"I will pay you later, right?"

Then he immediately locked the door and cried like a kid. His tears rained out as the rain. He fell to his knees, bowed down and continued. Even though he was 29 years old.

Then immediately, his phone rang up again and again.

Multiple messages that attracted his attention and he grabbed the phone and saw: [Congratulations for going so far in our game. Do you want to test our latest version? If completed, you will be given 10 billion dollars.]

He instantly stopped crying and clicked on the option yes till the phone froze up. Suddenly, he felt astonished and fainted.

As soon as he opened his eyes, he was in space with stars everywhere around floating and moving downward slowly. It was the galaxy. Joel’s face grinned in surprise. As his legs reached the ground he shouted,

"How can I get the money!"

He was addressing himself to a lady who resembled a kid with white long hair which reached her thighs.

A golden circle behind her. About 1.57 meters in height.

Golden eyes in colour.

Luminescent dresses. She was actually sitting and drinking tea, slowly and majestically.

"You’re Joel, right?"

He nodded and thought she was a god or something. She replied calmly.

"Yes, I am."

Joel’s face sharpened.

"Please can you repeat?"

And instantly all sorts of questions were in his mind.

The goddess read it all, hissed and breathed out deeply.

A gate opened.

The table she sat on disappeared with the cup of tea she had. It appeared above him in air.

"I will send you to the game you played but it will be different."

Immediately, he couldn’t control himself.

"Go straight to the point."

Then words echoed in his mind.

Survive and complete it.

And his body moved towards the gate he entered.

Joel never thought that it would be more than a game but his new reality.
