Valerian, The Legendary
Chapter 348: Dragon Supreme.
Valerian stood on a crystal clear lake with a big tree of peach growing in the center. Above the tree, he saw a golden figure floating around slowly.
The figure belonged to a dragon, but this dragon was not like any other dragon he had ever seen. This dragon was thinner, and its body was long. It had five claws with four talons. However, the strength radiating from this dragon was so strong that Valerian was shivering in fear.
He did not know what to say because he was mesmerized. He did not know how to express his feelings, which were strange and familiar.
The deep voice echoed in his head, "Hmmm, you have a correct expression on your face, human."
Valerian woke from the daze and asked, "Are you the dragon god?" π§πππππ«π·π€πΏππ‘.ππ€πΆ
The deep voice sounded, "You may call me the Dragon Supreme."
Valerian was shocked, and then he could not help but kneel on the ground as he said, "Greetings, Lord Dragon Supreme."
The deep voice expressed surprise and asked, "You know about me?"
Valerian nodded while kneeling and said, "I do. I have read about your excellency in a record. However, it was just a sentence. You left the mortal world before humans or dragons invented language."
"Hmmm, you do seem like a wise one. Tell me, what is this threat that even the dragon clan cannot deal with?" asked the dragon supreme.
Valerian gave him a detailed account of Tyrant and how he reached half immortality. The wind suddenly stood still. A roar echoed in the surroundings.
Valerian was pressed against the floor, desperately trying to keep his head from being crushed by the pressure. The roar did not last long, and the dragon supreme said, "Why can these juniors not abide by the rules? Everyone was given a boon and a limitation for a reason."
Valerian raised his head after the pressure receded. He was having difficulty breathing when the young man said, "I understand what you mean, Your Excellency, and I also agree with your thinking, but you also know once in a while, the world has to go through a change.
The change allows the true values to be re-established. Ever since the world was created, it had never undergone a cleaning. The negative elements grew strong, and thus someone desiring to break the norms was born. This desire created this problem."
The dragon supreme heard Valerianβs words and said, "Since you wish to curb this danger, I shall allow you a chance. Remember, you have only one chance. If you fail, the death fiends outside will consume your soul."
Valerian nodded and asked, "What do I have two do?"
The dragon supreme did not answer instantly but fell silent. After a few minutes, he said, "You need to withstand my pressure for ten minutes. While doing so, you will have to answer my questions too. If you can satisfy me, I will grant you the treasure."
Valerian took a deep breath and nodded, "I agree, Your Excellency."
He had no other option but to agree to this test. The treasure was asking for was crucial to his plan. The treasure was so strong that if it fell into enemy hands, it could rain chaos on the world. Tyrant Immortuous was the strongest warrior in the world even before he gained the mana body. If he managed to destroy Mana, none of the people in the world would be able to defeat him.
As he was thinking, the pressure from the dragon supreme crushed his shoulders. Valerian sensed his knees sink inside the lake. The golden dragon said, "You will have one minute to answer the questions."
Valerian nodded with his eyes focused on the water below. He did not need to mind the scenery but focus on the questions from the Dragon Supreme.
The Dragon Supreme asked, "What is that one emotion that can break someone completely or make them anew?"
Valerian thought for a bit and said, "Love."
The dragon supreme did not say anything for a bit but then asked, "Why?"
Valerian replied, "If you lose the one you loved with your entire being, you will be left with a broken heart. However, if you find someone to love you, it can inspire you to go forward and even climb the tallest mountains in the world."
The dragon nodded and replied, "Very good. Can you tell me a form of love that will never betray you? A love that you can never have enough of?"
This was a confusing question. Valerian did not know how to answer it. He wanted to ask someone for help. The pressure on his shoulders pressed him down like a boulder, and his body shivered gently. The young man could not help but think about his mother. Then it clicked, and he said, "The love of a mother."
The dragon supreme kept asking him questions, ranging from situations to logic and emotions. Valerian answered all the questions with great conviction. He did not know how much time had passed, and his bones were already emitting crackling sounds just when his consciousness was about to give in. The pressure vanished, and he crashed into the water.
The dragon supreme nodded and said, "You have given satisfactory answers. This proves that you are calm and witty. I will grant you this treasure. However, before you touch this stone, you have to increase the purity of your Mana."
Valerian did not know how to make his Mana pure. The golden dragon said, "The blood of a human will be at the purest when it is bright red like a smelted block of iron."
Surprised, the young man asked, "Lord, how can I purify my blood?"
The dragon supreme said, "I can control the death fiends. They will not attack you, but every time they get near you, they will suck out the impurities from your body. The pain will be so hard that you might go insane or try to kill yourself. There have been many people who think that the reason the death fiend sucks off your Mana is because they want to kill people. However, they want to purify the person who can wield this treasure."
Valerian was surprised, and the dragon supreme said, "Your aura is similar to that woman from a few days ago. She was strong, and her virtues were all right. However, she did not wield the treasure but placed it away from the bloomkin vault."
The young man nodded and said, "You must be talking about my mother. However, Your Excellency. May I ask, why did so many Bloomkin die?"
The Dragon Supreme replied, "This treasure was never to be possessed by a magical. Yet they dared to keep it inside a vault? This stone was not even treasure but a teardrop from goddess Vita. When she had to leave the world she had created with so much affection, she could not help but cry, and thus the teardrop became a stone. I guarded it and left a wisp of my soul inside it. The stone can cancel all the magic spells and all the Mana that comes in contact with this.
This is not a dragon treasure, but a Goddess Treasure, the tear of Vita."
Valerian was shocked and could not help but shiver at the mention of this. He was aware that Goddess Vita was the entity that ruled the gods, except for Primus.
This stone could help him win over Immortuous. However, Dragon Supreme poured a bucket of cold water on his head.
He said, "The tear of Vita is not something you can control once you trigger it. Ten miles around the epicenter will be filled with death fiends. If what you said is true, the enemy will not make it through. However, if someone else is caught up in this storm, they will die.
You will need to be very careful about how to use this stone."
The young man sighed and nodded. He asked, "Lord, when can I start purifying my blood?"
Dragon Supreme replied, "Now, I will send you back outside. You will be able to come back inside when your blood is purified."
Valerian gritted his teeth and nodded. The next moment he blinked his eyes and appeared in the ravine surrounded by black fog. His gaze was clouded and his hand was still in the position where he could pick up the stone.
Recalling what Dragon Supreme said, Valerian calmed down and returned his hand. He took a few breaths to prepare himself mentally and stopped channeling his decay mana.
The young man immediately realized what it was like to have a death fiend gnaw at his impurities. The death fiends flew closer to Valerian and sucked at his body.
A black veil seemed to be peeled from his body. It was like a smoke was coming out from his body, however, the pain was so strong that he wanted to give up with just two attempts.
