Valerian, The Legendary
Chapter 356: Turning Tables.
Immortuous lay on the ground, watching Valerian stand high above him and gazing down with eyes filled with indifference. His body was filled with immense pain that rendered him incapable of talking. However, he had not given up hope of turning the tables on this guy and getting away from this.
He knew that the magicals could contain him rather easily without his arms. In the worst-case scenario, they could divide his body. However, they would still not be able to kill him. He did not mind living like an insect because that way, he would still have time to find some way to come back and reclaim everything that belonged to him.
All this would depend on his next move. Valerian had to be killed because he was the only one who could erase him. Yes, killing him was not something Valerian was after. He wanted Immortuous to vanish from the face of the world.
Immortuous did everything he could, betrayed his friend, and sought war to leave a mark on this world. People loved Divinus. They called him the Gentle Mage, the Noble Mage. He came from humble beginnings and did so much for the world when he traveled around and solved their troubles.
Immortuous hunted down everyone involved with Divinus to erase that, even before he had killed him. The people did not know this, but before he could destroy Divinus, he wished to erase every mark he had left in his journey. He even tried to charm his wife, but too bad the lady was loyal and devoted to her love.
Since he has already come so far, how could he let Valerian get what he wanted? Thinking about it, he decided to resort to his last card. Nothing could stop the impending doom cloud over his head from descending if this did not succeed.
Making up his mind, Immortuous focused on Valerian standing over his head. Valerian asked him which eye he used to look at his mother. Immortuous closed his eyes as he controlled his pain.
He kicked up from the ground and stood up. Valerian and Fortuna stepped back, and the people watched with shock. Boo-too and the Holy Maiden both converged their attention on Immortuous as they were sure he would try something.
Fortuna asked, "Do you still want to fight us?"
Her tone was calm, but her eyes were wary. Valerian was the same, and his hand was already gripping the Halberd. Immortuous said, "I stood up because I have a confession to make."
The people were all curious and wary about what this guy was about to say. Immortuous raised his head to gaze at the amber sky, he watched the sun slowly descending on the horizon, and with a sigh, he said, "You all think that I am a Villain. That a person like me does not deserve to live. Fine, I accept that I am heinous, and I have committed a lot of sins. However, did any of you think, why am I so?"
The people were confused, and Fortuna snapped back, "Is it not because you just wanted everything for yourself? Your greed and your conceit are what made you the villain. What else is there."
Immortuous chuckled in a self-deprecating manner. He said, "This world is akin to a small grain of sand scattered all over the universe. You all are fools to think that you can take me down that easily."
The people were surprised, and Immortuous said in a sonorous tone, "You have been using the power of Vita. But, boy, you are not alone who has something that belongs to the high Gods."
High god was a reference used for Primus and Vita. Valerian rushed toward Immortuous to kill him before he could play any trick. However, Immortuous was indifferent. He opened his mouth and roared.
The roar from his mouth made everyone daze out. They all covered their ears when they gained their senses. Immortuous stood on the same spot, but his arms had grown back, and a shiny red stone was hovering around his body. The stone was round and shimmery. Immortuous waved his hand, and the air wave alone pushed the charging Valerian back.
Boo-too could not help but shout, "Valerian, run away from him. Now."
Valerian was surprised by all this, but Immortuous grabbed Valerian, and the young man found his neck clutched by Immortuous. Fortuna tried to attack Immortuous, but the guy waved Valerian’s body around like a meat shield and said, "Come on, little lizard, let’s see if you can save him before you kill him."
Fortuna did not continue to fight hard. She did not want Valerian to suffer. She was worried. Valerian’s voice sounded in her mind, ’He is way stronger than before. Do not come here.’
Immortuous chuckled and said, "You are correct. I am way too stronger. I can kill you as easily as snapping my fingers, but that little girl beside the Saintess has cast a magical blessing over you. Isn’t it ironic that I cannot kill the only person who can kill me?"
Valerian looked Immortuous back in the eyes directly, without fear, and the latter said, "Since you do not fear me, allow me to tell you what this is. This stone has been the core of my strength for the past decade. Without this stone, I would not have absorbed a dragon’s treasure. This stone is called the blood of Primus."
A bad premonition raised in Valerian’s heart, and he turned his head slightly to look at Fortuna. His eyes said it all. He did not know if he would live now. He wanted to dissolve the magical bond when Immortuous said, "Do not worry, you will not die, but you will wish for it."
Boo-too said, "Immortuous, you better not do what you are thinking of. I promise you, and the bloomkin will not hold back if you do anything to him."
Immortuous smiled and said, "You are very welcome, Your Excellency. I will be the first man to be handled by the Bloomkin personally."
Valerian glared at Immortuous, who looked back at him and said, "You do not have to think so much, young one. I will send you to a place where you will know what it is like to have all your gifts taken away."
Valerian furrowed his brows, and Boo-too said, "If you do that, you will lose your immunity, and the magical will chop you into pieces and hold you a prisoner for eternity. Not only that, I will cast a spell that will make the world forget if Immortuous even existed?"
Immortuous smirked and said, "They will forget me, but will the magical community forget me? Valerian, tell me, will you be able to forget me?"
Valerian narrowed his gaze at him and said with a restrained voice, "I will come after you even if you were to flee to the end of the universe."
Immortuous smiled and said, "That is what I am after."
The red stone in the air came to lower between Valerian and Immortuous. The latter said, "When your father managed to blend the five elements because of this stone. The blood of Primus is the source of all magic, and not for this; I would not have been invincible. To activate this stone, one needs to sacrifice something."
Fortuna and the people tried to rush at him, but while the eastern experts held back the western experts, the magical was held back by a barrier that Immortuous created. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Immortuous said, "I sacrifice my invincible body in exchange for sending Valerian Divinus Magnus to a world without magic."
Fortuna roared, "Immortuous stop, stop you, bastard! You scourge!"
Immortuous chuckled, and then he coughed up a spray of five-colored fluid. The red stone absorbed all the blood, and everyone saw Immortuous’s body releasing a five-colored mist. It was all the mana that had been causing through his veins. The vitality from his body was gradually seeping away too.
The black hair turned grey and then white. His muscles withered, his grip weakened, and Valerian was free. However, the young man could not move, and his body was frozen in the void.
Valerian sensed something was about to happen and passed a message to Fortuna, "I will find a way back here, but in the meantime, can you look after my family."
The dragon queen did not say anything but a tear appeared in her eye. She was experiencing many emotions, rage and sadness, and more than that, helplessness. Her soul was that of a child in the body of a grown-up.
Immortuous smiled and said, "If you ever manage to return, then find me, Valerian. I will wait for you."
Following this, the world stopped, and the sky darkened. Red lightning flashed through the clouds, and a black portal surrounded by a red boundary appeared in the sky above Valerian.
The young man sensed his body to be tearing. However, a golden halo soon appeared around him, and the pressure lessened. Valerian turned around to look at the back of the eastern camp. He found Valerie crying as she rushed toward him. He smiled and said, "Look after them till I return Vali. You are a big girl. I will come back for sure. Okay?"
The little girl did not stop, she continued rushing through the frozen crowd, but the suction from the total was so strong that within a blink, Valerian vanished from the spot. The entire world returned back to how it was.
Fortuna stood in a daze for a few seconds, and then she flew up into the sky and turned into her original form. She said, "Dragon kin, here my command, I can sense that Valerian is alive, and till he returns, we will guard this world. Kill anyone who does not surrender. Do not hesitate."
Following this command, roars echoed and the dragons wreaked havoc.
