Valerian, The Legendary
Chapter 376: Strife.
Valerian did not pay attention to the person calling him and kept walking. It was not that he did not know, but he knew and did not care. This person would find fault with him, and Valerian did not wish to meddle with them.
However, he did not know that the young man would not take the hint and rush to him. He sensed malice in the approach, and just when the person was closer to him, Valerian took a step to the side, making the punch miss. The attacker lost his balance and tumbled down the stairs.
The physical injuries were not big, but the humiliation was crippling. A crowd gathered in the surroundings, and the people murmured, "Isnβt that the young master of the Avion Party? Maximus?"
"Yes, why did he attack that young man?"
"Who knows? Letβs watch."
Maximus was not oblivious to the whispers. He got up and clenched his fist. The vice-head of the Avion party rushed up to him and asked with concern, "Young Master, are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Maximus shook his head, telling the middle-aged man he was fine, but the Vice head turned to look at Valerian and yelled, "You bastard, how dare you attack my Young master? Do you know who he is?"
Valerian replied calmly, "He attacked me from behind and yet failed. Also, do not try to play big names before me. I do not care if others fear you and your party. If you mess with me, I will kill you to end my unnecessary trouble."
The refute was so direct that it rendered the people speechless. None of the people in the city has ever dared to mess with the Avion Party. Valerian looked them right in the eye and declared his intention. The young man replied, "Oh, so you will kill me? Do you think you are above the rules?"
Valerian asked, "What rules are you talking about?"
Maximus smirked and said, "The rule made by the strong. The strength behind me is Avion Party."
Valerian sighed, and in a blink, his figure flickered, and he appeared right before Maximus. His hand was resting on the neck of the gilded young master. The people gasped, and the deputy party head looked at Valerian in horror. He knew this young man was strong and could defeat a floor boss with just a few members.
However, threatening the life of the young master before the public was an insult to the Avion Party. He opened his mouth, but a croaking sound made him fall silent. Valerian said, "You do not need to say much. I will kill him if you do. This is just a warning. I do not have a party to support me, but I still have the capital to deal with the two of you when I want. Cherish the chance and get out of my sight."
That said, he flung Maximus away like rotten meat and pushed the deputy away before leaving. The deputy clenched his fist and said, "You think the Avion Party will let you go?"
Valerian replied without turning back, "You can come after me, inside or outside the dungeon, however, you like. Though, the result will be your death."
Maximus shivered in rage. He flung his sleeves and left toward the Avion Party estate. He was going to report this matter to his father. It was not that he wanted his help in seeking vengeance, but he needed permission to begin his revenge at least.
...
This news caused a stir in the city and even reached the ears of the respected guild heads. Adler showed his stance and immediately called for a meeting where he told all the Craftsmen guild elders and gave clear instructions. "If the Avion Party acted excessively, we will cut off all relationship ties with them."
Someone asked him why, and the answer was a showcase of the war ax the young man made. The artisans were all shocked, and they began to study the artifact. Adler dropped another bomb in the meeting and handed them copies of the artifact design plan.
The loyalty was bought with a parchment. The Dungeoneer guild was neutral for the time being, but Prim took time to hold a special meeting with the Guild Leader and said, "Guild leader, the potential this young man has is unlike anyone else. I can guarantee you, and he will reach beyond floor forty."
The guild leader was skeptical of these claims but did not brush off the lady completely and said, "If anything happens, then we will see."
In the end, Prim sighed and left the office. She decided to warn Valerian the next time he came to the guild building.
...
Valerian was unaware of the situation and headed straight back to the building with the long shield on his back. He walked slowly and presented the shield to Captain. The young man was exhilarated with the present. Valerian said, "We will go to the dungeon tomorrow. I intend to check the situation on the fifteenth floor. Can you make prepare the supplies?"
Captain nodded and said, "Yes, I will arrange it."
Valerian nodded and wanted to return to his room when he thought of something and said, "Umm, can you guys draw away from those in the Avion Party?" ππ«ππ²π¨πππππ―ππΉ.ππ¨πΊ
Shiba was also in the living room, resting on the couch, and asked, "What happened?"
Valerian replied, "I was at the craftsmen guild when that guy Maximo ran up and created trouble. I retaliated accordingly. Although I did not harm him, he will come back at me."
Captain asked confusedly, "Since when did Avion party have a Maximo?"
The house door was opened with great force, and Viney ran inside as she screamed, "Val beat up Maximus in front of the Craftsmen Guild."
Valerian nodded and replied silently, "Yes, that guy."
Shiba sat on the couch without energy while Captain asked in disbelief, "He did what?"
Viney nodded and told them what she heard when the trio turned their heads to look for Valerian. The young man was nowhere to be found.
...
The following day they were all busy with preparations to enter the dungeon, but they sensed the gazes laced on their backs. They could tell that these gazes belonged to the Avion Party. However, they could not take any actions without provocation.
After collecting the supplies, the people moved to the dungeon with Valerian. The young man could tell that the situation was not very friendly. The members of the Avion party were queuing up behind them. Valerian said, "Guys if they attack, let me handle them."
Shiba shook her head and said, "They will not attack us, but they will first make things difficult. This is how they work, and they do not break the person but the souls and minds before the person has no other way but to kill themselves."
Valerian sighed and said, "Shiba, if they dared to stand in my way. I will move against them. Do not expect me to hold back."
Shiba nodded and said, "Do what you want. I am not a fan of these people, but make sure there are no survivors."
Valerian nodded and stepped out of the queue. He looked at the fountain in the center of the Dungeon Entrance and walked up to it. He was not the talk of the town, and every move of his was being scrutinized. He was never bothered by the gazes on his back.
He jumped and stood up at the crown of the fountain and said, "My name is Valerian Divinus Magnus. Yesterday, I had a scuffle with a certain someone. You all might know this guy, but I could not care less about him or his background. All I know is this whole thing started because my party defeated a Floor Boss without their help.
I guess being strong damaged their pride. Since you all have been clamoring around me like rats, come at me. Remember, if you have guts, come at me head-on. Because if you try to hinder me or harm my teammates, I will come after you. And then I will not spare anyone."
His voice was cold and calm, but everyone heard it. None of the people accepted such a response to the threat spread out by the Avion Party. None of the Avion Party top brass could match this aura of dominance, this nobility.
Even if they were impressed, the people did not say anything. They all wanted to see the proof. What would he do if the Avion Party came after him. However, what they did not expect was that even the Avion Party members were shocked by this. When have they met a young man who would stand up to them like this?
Valerian got down from the fountain and walked over to the spot where his team was queuing up and they all moved forward. One thing was sure after this, the strife between the two parties was now out in the open. Valerian very cleverly shattered the dirty tactics of the Avion Party even before they could take any actions.
