Venerable Demon Chef
Chapter 102 - 100: The Judgment
"Mo Qi, you’re still playing word games at a time like this? You know you’re guilty but refuse to confess? Do you take us all for fools?" Wang Xinglong demanded.
Mo Qi glanced at everyone indifferently. That look sent a chill through the hearts of all the Elders present.
He could understand and even accept it, no matter how they targeted him.
But they never should have gone after Liu Hui and Jin Sanpang, and they certainly shouldn’t have hurt Niu Kexin.
The Elders had no idea what a heavy price they would pay for their actions today in the near future.
Only after confirming that Niu Kexin wasn’t seriously injured did Mo Qi look at Yun Xuzi.
"Sect Leader, Elder Wang asked me two questions. Before you pass judgment on my crimes, I also have a few questions I hope you can answer for me."
"Speak." Yun Xuzi was the Sect Leader, after all. Though he was just as eager to convict Mo Qi, he wouldn’t stoop so low as to lose his composure.
"I would like to ask, in our Void Sect, if an Elite Disciple maliciously hunts a Core Disciple, what is the crime? Does the Core Disciple have the right to defend himself and retaliate?"
Before Yun Xuzi could answer, Mo Qi continued, "Second question: if someone aids a tyrant, conspires with outsiders to seize the assets of a Void Sect disciple’s family, and cruelly tortures that family, how should they be dealt with?"
"Mo Qi, stop trying to change the subject! You’re the one on trial right now!" Wang Xinglong, knowing what Mo Qi was getting at, hurriedly interrupted.
"Elder Wang, the Sect Leader hasn’t spoken yet. What’s your hurry?" Mo Qi gave Wang Xinglong a faint glance before turning his gaze to Yun Xuzi, awaiting his answer.
Yun Xuzi pondered for a moment before saying, "Anyone who dares to hunt a Core Disciple of our Void Sect has committed a capital crime. The Core Disciple certainly has the right to defend himself and retaliate. As for the second question, such a person deserves to be killed!"
Mo Qi shrugged. "So the Sect Leader and I think alike. In that case, I don’t understand. Why are you putting me on trial?"
"What do you mean by that?" Yun Xuzi asked with a frown.
"It’s simple. Qi Tian and Diao Qing tried to kill me, but unfortunately for them, their skills were lacking, and I killed them instead. As for the incident in Nanyang City, I believe the truth can be easily investigated. They were a bunch of useless gluttons. Killing them was for the good of our Void Sect."
"Nonsense!" Wang Xinglong raged. "Qi Tian and Diao Qing had no quarrel with you, so why would they try to kill you? Besides, with their strength, if they wanted you dead, would you have even had a chance to fight back? I say you laid a vicious trap and murdered them in secret!"
Yun Xuzi and many of the Elders deeply agreed. In their eyes, although Mo Qi was a Core Disciple, he hadn’t even condensed his True Essence yet. How could he possibly be a match for Qi Tian and Diao Qing, two experts at the Refining God Ninth Heaven?
Mo Qi laughed, his face full of scorn. "Elder Wang, shouldn’t you be the one who knows best why those two tried to kill me?"
"Hmph. I don’t know what you’re talking about." Wang Xinglong snorted coldly. "Stop spouting nonsense and trying to distract everyone!"
"It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand; as long as you know the truth in your heart, that’s enough. Also, I, Mo Qi, wouldn’t deign to use tricks to deal with those two pieces of trash."
Wang Xinglong was about to say more, but Yun Xuzi stopped him.
"Mo Qi, you claim Qi Tian and Diao Qing tried to kill you. Do you have any proof?" Yun Xuzi asked.
Mo Qi shook his head. ’The men are dead. What proof could there be?’
’Jin Sanpang and his father, Jin Quan, saw what happened, but it’s impossible to have them come out and testify.’
Just then, the two brothers, Ye Lei and Ye Dian, stepped forward.
"Sect Leader, we have something to say."
"Please speak, Elders." Yun Xuzi was still very polite when addressing the brothers from the Ye Family.
"On the way to the Earth-level Spiritual Ore mine, Qi Tian actively and repeatedly provoked Mo Qi with vicious words. We can testify to this."
"Ye Lei, Ye Dian, what is the meaning of this? Are you trying to testify for Mo Qi?" Wang Xinglong said, displeased.
Ye Lei shook his head and said, "We are not testifying for anyone. We are simply providing some factual clues and evidence, hoping it will be helpful to this trial."
Yun Xuzi gave the two a cool glance. "This is not enough to prove anything."
He then turned to Mo Qi. "Do you have anything else to say?"
Mo Qi stared quietly at Yun Xuzi, then suddenly broke into a grin.
’He finally saw it. This so-called trial wasn’t just instigated by Wang Xinglong; Yun Xuzi wanted him dead, too.’
’Anyone with eyes could see that there was something wrong with the way Wang Xinglong was jumping around, constantly targeting him.’
’As the Sect Leader, how could Yun Xuzi not know?’
’But what Mo Qi couldn’t understand was why Yun Xuzi also wanted to kill him.’
"What are you smiling at?" Yun Xuzi had the unsettling feeling that his thoughts had been seen through, and he was deeply displeased.
"Nothing. Just that if you want to condemn someone, you’ll never be short of a pretext." Mo Qi shook his head, utterly disappointed in the Void Sect.
He still had a deep affection for this place that had raised him for ten years, but now, his strong sense of belonging had instantly dropped to zero.
"Since you cannot produce any more evidence and have personally confessed to the crime of murder, I have no choice but to pass judgment on you," Yun Xuzi said gravely.
Mo Qi sighed. ’Things have already come to this. Surrendering without a fight is impossible. It seems I have no choice but to cause a huge scene.’
He woke the Pig Emperor in his arms, telling it to get ready to use its new ability at any moment.
The thought of all the Elders, Yun Xuzi included, becoming pregnant and clutching their big bellies actually made Mo Qi a little excited.
At that exact moment, Liu Hui and Jin Sanpang appeared in front of Mo Qi, shielding him behind them.
"If you want to touch Brother Mo, you’ll have to get through San Pang first!" Jin Sanpang summoned his Big Hammer, his aura flaring to its peak.
"Hmph, a bunch of idiots. Putting my Lord on trial for a couple of morons. Unbelievable." Liu Hui began to Transform into a Dragon. His entire body was covered in pale golden scales as he unleashed his Dragon Qi Domain. For a moment, a brilliant golden light filled the air, dazzling everyone.
Yun Xuzi and all the Elders froze, their attention completely captivated by Jin Sanpang and Liu Hui.
Not much needed to be said about Liu Hui. He was mistaken to possess the Dragon Blood Talent, and he was the very reason Yun Xuzi was determined to convict Mo Qi.
But where had this unfamiliar young man, Jin Sanpang, come from?
Which of the Elders present wasn’t an old monster who had lived for hundreds of years? How could Jin Sanpang’s bone age possibly escape their notice?
Purity Realm Perfection at fifteen years old... was this really not an illusion?
Such talent... you probably couldn’t find another one like him even in the entire Mountain and Sea Empire!
Where did this monster of a talent come from? Why had they never heard of him before?
Also, why was everyone around Mo Qi so terrifying?
Yun Xuzi was currently both ecstatic and distressed.
He was ecstatic that the Void Sect had gained another peerless genius; he was distressed that, as the Sect Leader, he hadn’t even known such a figure was hidden within his own Sect.
"Liu Hui, and you, disciple, step aside. This matter has nothing to do with you," Yun Xuzi said with a wave of his hand, pretending not to have heard Liu Hui’s insults.
Neither Jin Sanpang nor Liu Hui moved.
"You two, Mo Qi has murdered a fellow disciple and must be punished. Don’t be deceived by him and ruin your own futures," Wang Xinglong said in a grave, earnest tone.
