Chapter 131: Chapter 129: The "Proud" Dragon Race

Liu Ruyan and Mo Qi had known each other for five years. She was once his only friend in the Void Sect, aside from Fang Min.

Thinking back on their time together, Mo Qi couldn’t help but smile.

’So she’s more complicated than she seems. Who doesn’t have a few secrets these days?’

Mo Qi had no intention of chasing after her to confront her.

He could tell that Liu Ruyan meant him no harm by staying close. If anything, she seemed a little dependent on him.

There had to be some basic trust between people; there was no need to pry into every little detail.

Just as Mo Qi was about to head back and contemplate the Ni Brothers’ advice, the sound of a fight erupted from the foot of the mountain.

Hm?

Mo Qi frowned slightly. ’Someone actually dares to cause trouble here?’

He swept the area with his Divine Sense, only to find Jin Sanpang and Liu Hui.

With a single step, Mo Qi vanished.

"You damn fatty, are you crazy?!"

The transformed Liu Hui was sent flying by one of Jin Sanpang’s punches, smashing into the mountainside and grimacing in pain.

Even with the protection and enhancement of his Dragon Energy, he was still only at the Refining God Ninth Heaven Realm. Jin Sanpang, on the other hand, was at Purity Realm Perfection.

So in a direct confrontation, he could only get thrashed.

Jin Sanpang puffed out his cheeks, his expression uncharacteristically grave. "Dazed Dragon, if you dare keep following San Pang, San Pang will beat you up again!"

Liu Hui finally managed to pull himself out of the rock face, dusting himself off. "You damn fatty, if the Master hadn’t ordered it, you think I’d want to follow you around?"

Jin Sanpang froze. "Brother Mo?" He quickly shook his head, thinking, ’No, I can’t let Brother Mo get involved.’

He tried to look fierce, glaring at Liu Hui. "Stop following San Pang! San Pang just... um... just wants to go for a walk by himself."

Liu Hui chuckled. ’This fatty wears his heart on his sleeve, and he’s still trying to act tough.’

He tilted his head and raised an eyebrow. "What? You own this road or something? I’ll walk wherever I please. What makes you think I’m following you?"

Jin Sanpang was no match for Liu Hui in an argument. He mumbled for a long time but couldn’t come up with a single retort.

Finally, he threw up his arms and stubbornly declared, "San Pang doesn’t care! If you dare walk the same path, San Pang will beat you up!"

"Oh, you’re really testing my patience!"

Liu Hui ripped open his shirt, revealing a chest covered in golden scales. "Come on, hit me right here!" he challenged, pointing. "I’d like to see if you’ve really got the guts to do it. After all, I just saved..."

Before he could finish, Jin Sanpang blurred into motion, swinging his arm in a wide arc, bypassing Liu Hui’s chest and landing a heavy punch right on his face.

BOOM!

Once again, Liu Hui found himself spreadeagled and embedded in the mountainside, half his face swollen up like a bun.

"Don’t you know not to hit the face? Fatty, you’re actually serious?!" Liu Hui couldn’t even feel his own face anymore. This was the most humiliating moment he’d had since obtaining the Dragon Transformation Divine Technique.

"Damn it! You’re only winning because your Cultivation is higher than mine! If we were at the same level, I could flatten you with one hand!"

Jin Sanpang just snorted, ignoring Liu Hui’s trash talk, and turned to leave.

But he had barely taken a step when he felt something wrap around his calf.

He looked down and saw that Liu Hui had somehow latched onto his calf like a koala.

"You can’t leave!" Liu Hui went a step further and plonked himself down on top of Jin Sanpang’s foot.

Mo Qi had told him to watch Jin Sanpang, so he couldn’t let the big guy leave before Mo Qi arrived, no matter what.

"Let go!" Jin Sanpang tried to shake his leg, but Liu Hui clung to him like a leech and simply wouldn’t be shaken off.

"Heh, I’m not letting go! Go on, kill me if you’ve got the guts!" Liu Hui smirked, but the expression pulled at his swollen face. He sucked in a sharp breath of pain and immediately froze his features.

Jin Sanpang: "..." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Mo Qi arrived just in time to witness this scene.

The corner of his mouth twitched, and he had to fight to keep from laughing out loud.

’Which one of you is supposed to be the four-year-old here?’

’Liu Hui, is *this* how you use your Dragon Transformation Divine Technique? What happened to the legendary pride of the Dragon Race?!’

’You have to be trying to make me laugh!’

"Ahem." Mo Qi cleared his throat.

Jin Sanpang and Liu Hui both flinched.

In the blink of an eye, Liu Hui was on his feet, instantly switching from clown to cool and detached. He tilted his head back to gaze at the sky, pretending to admire the scenery.

Jin Sanpang, meanwhile, looked down guiltily, wringing his hands and not daring to meet Mo Qi’s eyes.

"San Pang, what did Zhang Shao say to you before he left?" Mo Qi asked.

"He said he’s going to kill my father, and then... huh?" Halfway through his sentence, Jin Sanpang’s head snapped up. "Brother Mo, how did you know he said something to me?"

Before Mo Qi could answer, Liu Hui chimed in. "You were being so obvious, it was written all over your face. It’d be harder *not* to know."

"Huh?" Jin Sanpang was dumbfounded. He lowered his head again, completely at a loss. "Brother Mo, San Pang... San Pang didn’t mean to hide it, San Pang..."

As he spoke, Jin Sanpang’s lower lip trembled and his eyes welled up with tears. He looked like he was about to burst out crying.

’This kid... it’s impossible to stay mad at him!’

Not knowing whether to laugh or cry, Mo Qi tapped Jin Sanpang on his bald head.

"Silly San Pang, what are you crying for? Brother Mo isn’t blaming you. Come on, tell me what’s going on with your father."

Liu Hui took out a towel and tossed it to Jin Sanpang. "So you’re a crybaby, fatty," he said with a laugh. "Hurry up and wipe your face. You look hideous when you cry."

His expression was teasing, but his tone was filled with concern.

"Hmph! None of your business, Dazed Dragon!"

Jin Sanpang wiped away his tears and looked at Mo Qi. "Brother Mo, before Zhang Shao left, he sent a voice transmission to San Pang. He said that if San Pang doesn’t return to the Wolf Fang Sect within seven days, he’ll kill my father."

"San Pang... San Pang doesn’t want Father to die, but San Pang doesn’t want anything to happen to Brother Mo either, so..."

"So you were just going to foolishly rush back by yourself?" Mo Qi asked, exasperated.

Jin Sanpang lowered his head, his silence a clear admission.

"San Pang, you don’t need to go back. Your father will be fine," Mo Qi said firmly.

"How do you know, Brother Mo?" Jin Sanpang asked, confused.

Mo Qi explained, "San Pang, think about it. With your father’s power and his status in the Wolf Fang Sect, do you really think Zhang Shao can kill him just like that? It’s because he *can’t* kill your father that he’s using him as a threat to trick you into going back."

"Once you’re back in the Wolf Fang Sect, Zhang Shao will capture you and use you as a hostage to threaten your father. *That’s* when your father will be in real danger. So, the farther you are from the Wolf Fang Sect, the safer he is."

Jin Sanpang carefully mulled over Mo Qi’s words. With his childlike mind, he couldn’t quite grasp all the logic, but he trusted that Mo Qi wouldn’t lie to him.

"Brother Mo, so as long as I don’t go back, Father will really be okay?"

Mo Qi nodded solemnly. "Brother Mo gives you his word!"

When Jin Quan had entrusted Jin Sanpang to Mo Qi, he had anticipated this very day.

He had instructed Mo Qi that as long as San Pang didn’t fall into Zhang Shao’s hands, his own life would not be in danger.

"Brother Mo, San Pang misses Father so much. When can San Pang see him again?" Jin Sanpang gazed into the distance, his eyes filled with longing.

Mo Qi patted Jin Sanpang’s large belly and smiled. "When San Pang is all grown up and powerful, you’ll be able to see your father again."

Jin Sanpang nodded emphatically. "San Pang will work hard on his Cultivation, grow up fast, and reunite with Father!"
