Venerable Demon Chef
Chapter 452 - 449: Ah Bai Appears
Although these Immortals belonged to the Hall of Envoys, to put it bluntly, any place outside the Immortal Realm could be called the Mortal District.
They had merely occupied the most fertile lands within the Mortal District.
As a result, their knowledge of "Ancient Times" was superficial at best.
They only knew that anything related to "Ancient Times" was bound to be impressive, but they didn’t know *how* impressive.
That was how, with some deliberate instigation, this whole major misunderstanding had occurred.
Facing the crowd’s complicated stares, Mo Qi shrugged, the picture of innocence.
’I told you from the start I don’t have the inheritance of some Ancient Great Power,’ he thought. ’You’re the ones who refused to believe me.’
"My lord, this boy is a great menace! He cannot be allowed to live!" Huangfu Zhong kowtowed forcefully, his head slamming against the ground with a series of THUDS.
"He colluded with Beast Mountain and slaughtered my entire Huangfu Family! I beg you to deliver justice, my lord!"
The Demon Race expert let out a low chuckle. "That’s because you were useless. What does it have to do with this Venerable One?"
"As for Beast Mountain, this Venerable One will naturally punish them severely for their incompetence."
Huangfu Zhong was dumbfounded. He never would have imagined that the lord he had pledged allegiance to would say such a thing.
"However, you were right about one thing. Since this boy can unleash Immortal Level Combat Power—never mind how he does it—leaving him alive will sooner or later become a problem."
"But there’s no rush. He’s not going anywhere. Let’s fish that waste of space Huangfu Yu out of there first."
The Demon Race expert yawned. The beast claw in the sky above shifted slightly, extending one talon and tapping it toward the Spirit Pool.
SHIIING!
The Spirit Pool, protected by a powerful Array, was as fragile as tofu, easily pierced by the talon.
The unconscious Huangfu Yu was drawn by the force, flying out of the Spirit Pool along the path of the talon.
Just then, the Demon Race expert’s Divine Sense swept past Liu Ruyan, and it froze, unable to move away.
’A fifteen-year-old at the Mid-stage Void Realm!’
’Mental Realm Transformation!’
’Her foundation is as stable as a mountain and as deep as the sea!’
’Since when did the Human Race’s Mortal District produce such a genius?!’
’If she goes to the Immortal Realm and is noticed and nurtured by those old geezers, what would happen then?’
’This is the true mortal enemy of the Demon Race’s future!’
’No, she must die!’
At this thought, the Demon Race expert felt a jolt as if he’d just downed a shot of strong liquor. All traces of his earlier laziness vanished.
He focused his Divine Sense and thrust it toward the cultivating Liu Ruyan, intending to annihilate her soul.
"Not good! That bastard is making a move on the Ruyan girl!" The Pig Emperor was the first to notice something was wrong and cried out in alarm.
Mo Qi’s face fell in horror. He quickly channeled his fortune, and the Power of the Dragon Vein returned to him.
Just as he was about to recklessly activate the Chaos Scripture and use his own body as a shield to block the attack for Liu Ruyan, a beam of white light descended from the sky, cleanly shattering the Demon Race expert’s Divine Sense assault.
"Ah!"
The Demon Race expert cried out in pain. The giant white beast claw swatted violently, and the surrounding space shattered inch by inch.
The next second, a giant white wolf as large as a mountain tumbled out of a spatial rift and plunged into the ocean, kicking up a tsunami wave a thousand feet high.
RUMBLE!
The tsunami surged for a hundred li before it finally subsided.
"Who is it? Who dares to ambush this Venerable One!"
The next moment, the giant wolf trod upon the waves and charged upward, its overwhelming ferocity causing the very space around it to tremble violently.
It tilted its head back, glaring furiously at its surroundings as it searched for its target.
"My name is Ah Bai." A cold, indifferent voice sounded.
"Ah Bai? What kind of bullshit name is that? You coward, do you dare show yourself and fight this Venerable One?" The giant wolf was enraged. The mere fluctuation of its emotions caused the sea to boil and the sky to change color for ten thousand li in every direction.
"Her Majesty the Queen has decreed that outsiders are forbidden from using Immortal Level combat power or higher in the Mortal District. You have already done so once. Out of consideration for us both being Demon Beasts, I let you off the hook. This second time is absolutely not permitted."
The indifferent voice paused, then continued, "Furthermore, the name Ah Bai is not bullshit. It was given to me by Her Majesty the Queen. For that, you deserve a beating!"
The moment the voice finished, another beam of white light shot down, striking the giant wolf right on its forehead.
DONG!
"AWOOO~" The giant wolf couldn’t dodge in time and was hit squarely. It howled in pain.
"Since we are both of the Demon Race, why are you protecting humans?!" the giant wolf demanded, clutching its head. Its tone was quite hostile. "Are you trying to be a traitor to the Demon Race?"
The indifferent voice replied, "I am a Demon Beast, but not of the Demon Race. Ah Bai is responsible only to the Queen!"
"What bullshit Qu—" Before the giant wolf could finish the word "Queen," a terrifying name surfaced from the depths of its memory.
It didn’t dare utter the rest of the word, no matter what.
"You... you’re one of Queen Mo Yan’s people!" All defiance vanished from the giant wolf’s face, replaced by sheer terror and lingering fear.
"Little wolf, come here and talk," the indifferent voice sounded again.
In the next instant, the giant wolf felt an irresistible force bind it. Then, its body flew uncontrollably up into the nine heavens, disappearing from everyone’s sight.
Huangfu Zhong was dumbfounded once again.
The lord who, in his eyes, was as powerful and invincible as a Divine Being, had been completely dominated by an unknown entity named "Ah Bai."
And from the lord’s tone at the end, it was clear he felt a deep, heartfelt reverence.
He knew the name "Queen Mo Yan." Not only him, but all the other Immortals present knew it as well.
That was the ruler of the Nether Race, who had vanished long ago!
A long, long time ago, the Nether Race was a group so powerful that the Human Race could only look up to them in awe.
But then, for some unknown reason, the Nether Race vanished without a trace, and the Human Race rose to prominence.
The Immortal Realm had recently issued a decree: with the appearance of the Nether Race, all members of the Hall of Envoys were forbidden from using Immortal Level Combat Power in areas inhabited by mortals.
Although this matter had caused quite a stir and much discussion, the members of the Hall of Envoys hadn’t taken it seriously.
In their view, even if the Nether Race returned, they should still tuck their tails between their legs and act submissively before the fully-fledged Human Race.
As for the decree issued by the Immortal Realm, they believed it was most likely just to appease the Nether Race and give some face to the legendary Queen Mo Yan.
But now, it seemed the reality was not what everyone had imagined.
While everyone was lost in their own thoughts, Mo Qi, with a grim expression, used the Chaos Scripture to quickly undo the Array on the Spirit Pool and awaken Liu Ruyan and Feng Liang.
"Brother Mo, what happened?" Liu Ruyan asked, still groggy from her Cultivation.
Mo Qi shook his head. "Don’t worry about that for now. Go to your Liu Family’s ancestor. He’ll protect you."
Liu Ruyan realized the gravity of the situation and didn’t ask any more questions. She obediently did as Mo Qi said and returned to the Liu Family Immortal’s side.
The members of the Liu Family immediately formed a protective circle around Liu Ruyan.
"Mo the kid, are you alright?" The Pig Emperor’s smile was long gone, replaced by deep worry.
It knew all too well the immense impact the name "Queen Mo Yan" had on Mo Qi.
Back then in the Wailing Abyss, Mo Qi’s dream had been manifested by a special restriction there. The giant hand that had subdued and suppressed his mother belonged to Queen Mo Yan!
