Venerable Demon Chef
Chapter 56 - 54: Reversing the Teleportation Array
Jin Sanpang’s father, Jin Quan, was the Steward Leader of the Wolf Fang Sect. He managed all of the sect’s external affairs, a position second only to the Sect Leader himself.
Even the Wolf Fang Sect Leader had to treat him with courtesy.
This was also why Zhang Cheng didn’t dare to move against Jin Sanpang openly.
He had tried to kill Jin Sanpang on multiple occasions—through poison, assassination, or by luring him into traps—but every time, Jin Sanpang somehow managed to escape unscathed.
This gave Zhang Cheng a massive headache.
The recent discovery of an Earth-level Spiritual Ore, which prompted a competition between the younger disciples of the Wolf Fang Sect and the Void Sect, gave Zhang Cheng an idea.
He and a few accomplices had, as they often did, tricked Jin Sanpang out of the Wolf Fang Sect. This time, they used a Teleportation Array to dump him right in the heart of the Beast Tide.
He refused to believe Jin Sanpang could survive the onslaught of the Beast Tide.
Of course, this was all done behind Jin Quan’s back. When the time came, all he had to do was play dumb and deny everything. Without evidence, Jin Quan wouldn’t be able to do a thing to him.
Besides, Jin Sanpang was known for sneaking out to have fun.
"Brother Cheng said he’d take me to find Top-grade Spirit Stones. He said we could trade them for lots of tasty food and fun stuff. But... I don’t know what happened. I stepped into a circle of light, and then I was here, and Brother Cheng and the others were gone," Jin Sanpang said, looking aggrieved.
Mo Qi latched onto a key detail.
’Top-grade Spirit Stones?!’
’The only place to find Top-grade Spirit Stones around here would be in that Earth-level Spiritual Ore.’
’Does this mean the Wolf Fang Sect is already secretly mining it behind the Void Sect’s back?’
’As for the circle of light Jin Sanpang mentioned, that was undoubtedly a One-Way Teleportation Array.’
"Sanpang, look at this," Mo Qi said, retrieving a tube of Purple Bamboo Golden Fragrant Rice from the Chaos Scripture’s pocket dimension. He had prepared it before leaving the Void Sect.
The aroma of the Purple Bamboo Golden Fragrant Rice drifted on the breeze, instantly captivating Jin Sanpang.
"Goodies!" Jin Sanpang’s eyes lit up, and in the next instant, he vanished from his spot.
Mo Qi’s vision blurred, and the Purple Bamboo Golden Fragrant Rice was snatched from his hand.
A wall of flesh appeared before him—it was the astonishingly large Jin Sanpang. He was now toying with the tube of Purple Bamboo Golden Fragrant Rice, sniffing it repeatedly with a look of pure bliss.
’So fast!’
Mo Qi was stunned. He’d never imagined the seemingly bloated Jin Sanpang could be so incredibly fast.
’If he’d attacked me just now,’ Mo Qi thought, ’I wouldn’t have been able to dodge. I wouldn’t have even had time to take out the Obsidian Cauldron.’
’As expected of a cultivator at the Peak of the Purity Realm!’
Ignoring Jin Sanpang, who was lost in the aroma of the Purple Bamboo Golden Fragrant Rice, Mo Qi walked over to the spot where the large youth had been sitting.
Sure enough, he found the foundations of two arrays, one gold and one red.
The golden one was the Basic Beast-Attracting Array, and the red one was the One-Way Teleportation Array.
"Mo Qi, the fortuitous opportunity this Emperor promised you is on the other side of that Teleportation Array. Now, let’s see if you have the skill to reverse-engineer this One-Way Teleportation Array," the Pig Emperor chuckled. "Of course, you could choose not to. We could just walk there. But that would probably take ten to fifteen days."
Mo Qi rolled his eyes. ’It’s just the Earth-level Spiritual Ore, but you have to make it sound like some grand opportunity you’re bestowing on me. If you’re so amazing, why don’t you just send me there directly?’
’But this isn’t the time to argue about that. The priority is to break this Basic Beast-Attracting Array.’
He sent his Spiritual Power into the golden array’s core, tracing its intricate patterns until he had a complete copy of it in his mind.
The Chaos Scripture flickered, providing him with information. "Basic Beast-Attracting Array. Analysis complete. Three methods of destruction: First, brute-force shattering. Second, overwhelming it with a superior array. Third, meticulous, piece-by-piece dismantling."
Then, the Chaos Scripture "helpfully" added an explanation: Brute-force shattering required a Cultivation at the Void Realm or higher. Overwhelming it with a superior array required the Spiritual Power of a Void Realm expert. As for meticulous, piece-by-piece dismantling... at his current level, it would take a month.
Mo Qi was dumbfounded. He could forget the first two methods. ’The Void Realm? That’s a lifetime away for me.’
As for the only feasible option, he didn’t mind the time it would take, but Liu Hui and the others couldn’t possibly hold out for a whole month.
A month? They’d be lucky to last another hour.
’What am I going to do?’
Then, an idea struck him. He took a Jade Talisman from within his robes.
It was a gift from Yang Ming, and sealed within it was one of Yang Ming’s full-power attacks.
It was Mo Qi’s greatest trump card, one he had been saving for Wang Xinglong, but he had no choice but to use it now.
If he didn’t destroy the Basic Beast-Attracting Array, Liu Hui and his friends would be in grave danger.
"Whoa, whoa, Mo Qi, don’t do anything reckless!" the Pig Emperor hastily warned. "Forcing the array open will trigger a backlash. You won’t be able to handle it."
Mo Qi grinned. "But there’s a Teleportation Array, isn’t there?"
The Pig Emperor froze, let out a few grunts, and said nothing more.
Mo Qi withdrew his Spiritual Power from the Basic Beast-Attracting Array and redirected it into the One-Way Teleportation Array.
The energy that would erupt from shattering the core of the Basic Beast-Attracting Array was more than he could withstand.
Therefore, he had to reverse-engineer the Teleportation Array and use it to escape before the core exploded.
With the Chaos Scripture’s guidance, modifying an array was far simpler than destroying one. Even so, it would still take nearly a quarter of an hour.
All Mo Qi could do now was hope Liu Hui and the others could hold out for that long.
...
"Jin Quan, do you truly wish to go to war with the Void Sect?" Ji Lin demanded, his voice cold as he pointed his longsword at the other man. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Jin Quan and his men had been stalling them for nearly an hour. During that time, the Ye brothers had sent multiple messages, each more desperate than the last, saying they couldn’t hold on much longer.
Just moments ago, another message had come from Ye Lei: the defensive array they were hiding in had been broken, exposing everyone to the Beast Tide.
This meant that soon, all the disciples—with the possible exception of Ye Lei and Ye Dian—would be completely wiped out.
At that point, the competition against the Wolf Fang Sect disciples would become a complete farce.
It would be too late for the Void Sect to send reinforcements, and they would only become a laughingstock.
Jin Quan chuckled darkly, silently calculating the time.
He knew Ji Lin was at his breaking point. If he kept obstructing him, it would truly trigger a bloody clash between the experts of the two major sects.
Besides, enough time had passed. His objective was achieved, so there was no need for unnecessary sacrifices.
"Fine, fine. It seems you really are in a hurry. I, Jin Quan, will do you this favor today. I’ll take your word for it, just this once. You can go!"
All the Wolf Fang Sect experts ceased their attacks simultaneously and moved aside.
"You! Fine. This isn’t over!"
Ji Lin was seething, wishing he could run Jin Quan through with his sword. But he knew rescuing the disciples was the priority. Leaving the threat hanging in the air, he led the Void Sect experts and rushed in the direction of Liu Hui’s group.
When Ji Lin arrived, an overwhelming tide of Demon Beasts was rampaging through the forest, trampling and destroying everything in its path.
Seeing fresh humans barge in, the horde of beasts erupted into a frenzy.
In an instant, Ji Lin and his people were surrounded by the Beast Tide.
"Cut a path through!"
Ji Lin and the others were already brimming with pent-up rage, and now, these Low-level Demon Beasts were the perfect outlet.
BOOM! RUMBLE!
They unleashed their Grotto Heavens, which radiated a powerful aura. Each shockwave reaped the lives of swaths of Demon Beasts.
The experts accompanying Ji Lin were all at the Vajra Realm. They quickly carved a bloody path through the horde and rendezvoused with Ye Lei’s group.
