Chapter 468: Chapter 468: Human Bones Beneath the Reservoir

That lead was Nancy Shea.

The eight characters Nancy Shea gave intuitively seemed connected to the people behind Alex Sherman.

The methods of suppression were the same.

So she kept an eye on Nancy Shea.

Nancy Shea was quick to act.

When trouble hit June Sherman and Alex Sherman, logically, Nancy Shea should have been investigated too, but Alex Sherman took all the blame upon himself, and claimed his wife knew nothing, which the police confirmed upon investigation.

But with matters like this, nothing is certain.

Nancy Shea suddenly decided to leave Aethelgard at this critical juncture.

What surprised the police was that Nancy Shea returned to her hometown, did nothing, and merely instructed people to search the water reservoir.

Nancy Shea’s hometown was right next to Myrden, her home isn’t secluded but part of a large county town which has vastly transformed over more than twenty years, with the surroundings heavily developed.

Near Nancy Shea’s home was a small reservoir, which had already been redeveloped completely, and this reservoir was soon to be renovated.

The reservoir, abandoned for years, still contained water but was polluted, resembling a large pond full of algae and floating plants, since nobody relied on it for survival anymore.

The police watched as Nancy Shea got people to search the bottom of the reservoir, baffled by what she intended.

Nancy Shea spent a large amount of money, naturally attracting people willing to take on the job, wearing thoroughly protective waterproof gear as professionals dived down multiple times.

The inside of the reservoir was murky, filled with piles of trash, visibility was nearly nonexistent, and there was no specific description of what Nancy Shea was searching for.

Only when queried repeatedly by the divers did Nancy Shea speak with a trembling voice: "Retrieve... human bones... there might be some below..."

At those words, the divers and officers’ faces changed dramatically.

Then the divers spent hours scouring the bottom, and finally, someone made a discovery.

First, someone pulled up a cloth bag, its original color faded from soaking, and weighted with stones or something, very heavy, lying at the reservoir bottom. It was merely basketball-sized, and the divers initially thought it was trash, but upon opening, inside were piles of stones... and two pieces of human bone.

"They’re... human bones!!"

Moreover, they were dismembered.

The divers’ horrified voices echoed all around.

The police immediately intended to restrain Nancy Shea, but upon hearing the words, she could no longer maintain her composure, collapsing to the ground.

Her tears flowed uncontrollably as she repeatedly murmured, "No... it’s impossible... back then we definitely searched for you... definitely..."

Back then, they thoroughly combed every part of the reservoir, but no body was found beneath.

The police quickly assessed that these were parts of arm bones, immediately stating, "There are definitely more packages below, it’s too murky here, retrieval may not work, the reservoir must be drained dry, I’ll apply for a warrant immediately! Miss Shea, whatever you know, you must reveal the truth to us, otherwise, you’ll get caught in even bigger trouble."
