Villains In The Apocalypse: My Kids Are The Three Terrors
Chapter 11: Go home
"Well...." As the first to shake off the shock, Kain wanted to say something, but nothing came to mind.
If there was one thing he was certain of, these kids took after their mother.
In the basement, where they thought the children were being held captive, the scene looked more like they were holding people hostage.
One person was strapped to a table. His mouth was gagged, and aside from the underwear, this person was naked. When he saw them come in, there was a pleading look in his eyes. His hands trembled, and the chain holding him rattled.
The children stopped what they were doing when the four people descended the stairs. Their bodies were dirty, and one couldn’t see their features. Save for their eyes, which reflected their parents.
There were two boys with violet eyes that seemed to glow and a girl with green eyes that mesmerized.
One little boy was straddling the man, his small frame sitting on the man’s chest. In his hand, he held a knife that looked poised and ready to fall. The other boy was sitting in a corner, writing on a crumpled piece of paper. The little girl’s hand was extended, the punch she was about to land had fallen short because of the disturbance.
When Jake and Kain saw the direction of her punch, they couldn’t help pressing their thighs together and using their hand to cover their crotch.
During the momentary lapse, the system sounded in both Amelia’s and Kain’s ears.
[Mission: Locate the children] (Complete)
[Reward: Complete System Activation, Nurturing Station Tier 1]
[Would the host like to open the Nurturing Station now? Y/N]
Seeing the prompt, Kain did not choose to open the station. He had no idea what it was or what would happen if he decided to open it now. For something like this, it would be better to wait until he was alone.
Kain cleared his throat, about to speak, when Amelia beat him to it.
"Hey, kid, you can’t throw a punch like that; you’ll hurt your wrist." Then she stepped forward to correct the little girl’s posture.
Kain palmed his forehead and thought to himself, ’like mother, like daughter.’ But if that’s how they need to play this, he may as well go with the flow.
So he walked forward to the child with the knife. His best hope was that this kid didn’t try to stab him.
"Hey, kid, not stopping from being stabby stabby, but just so you know. Stabbing someone might get you covered in blood. If you stabbed him a little below his nipple, you can nick his lungs so he can choke on the blood."
If anyone else were to hear this conversation, they would consider Kain a danger to the child. But when Kain saw the child actually moving the knife according to his instruction, there was a twinkle in his eyes that he himself didn’t notice.
The man on the table thrashed as he heard Kain instructing the child. This caused him to be punched by the little girl who had just received the guidance of Amelia.
If not for the gag, the man’s screams would have echoed throughout not only the basement but also the director’s house.
After the pig slaughtering scream left the man, the little boy plunged the knife into his chest. The man’s body convulsed, and Kain removed the gag. The gurgling sound came up from the man’s throat.
The little boy on top of the man didn’t move. Some blood seeped from the wound and flowed to the boy’s leg. He didn’t move, only watched the man slowly choking to death.
[Hosts have assisted their children in learning new skills]
[Reward: Children receive +1 talent enhancement]
Amelia and Kain were shocked by the announcement. They hadn’t expected this kind of advice to do anything. But the announcement did remind Kain that they weren’t in the safety of their own home.
He was stupid. He had already taken a risk killing the director. The entire reason he didn’t touch the knife was that he wanted it to look like an accident. Even if they did find something, it wouldn’t make a difference because the world would have already ended.
But staying here now, it would only bring trouble. He needed to get everyone to leave, now.
"You three," he spoke quickly to the children. "I know you don’t know us, but I’m going to need you to listen to me. We," he pointed between Amy and himself, "are your parents. There isn’t time to explain now, but we need to go. When we get home, we can talk about anything you want."
He didn’t expect them to follow him blindly, but he was at least hoping for a reaction. He turned to Amelia, hoping to get some help.
Her mouth opened and closed, unsure of what to say. "We...we’ll teach you to stab stuff and fight."
Kain pursed his lips and narrowed his eyes. Amelia shrugged, hands thrown up. As Kain was about to speak, the boy who was sitting in the corner spoke up.
"Do you think hurting people is wrong? That it makes us bad people?" His eyes held Kain’s, as if waiting for him to tell him they were wrong.
Looking back at the child, Kain replied, "It is wrong to hurt people. But you’re my kids. Plus, it won’t matter how many people you hurt in a few days."
He didn’t know if that was the answer the child was looking for, but it was the one that got them moving. As soon as the boy in the corner moved, the other two followed suit.
Moving quickly up the stairs, Kain directed Jake and Veronica to meet them at his villa.
The two left quickly. The family of five took a little longer, but they were finally on the road.
The little girl knelt on the seat, her little eyes glued to the window, "Where are we going?" Her voice was soft and sweet. If not for the vision of her punching a man in the nuts, Kain wouldn’t think twice about assuming she was a well-behaved child.
"We’re going home," Amelia replied, smiling faintly.
