Warhammer Divine Throne
Chapter 826 - 366: Shopping Spree (2)
Only the Alchemy Academy and Amber Academy are not built within the city. The Alchemy Academy is situated in a corner of the suburbs, where machines roar, with large smokestacks and massive metal furnaces. The Great Alchemist Biersaze Gaert is conducting a significant experiment and briefly introduced himself to a group of people. The Amber Academy is located in a beast cave outside the city, and the Amber Academy Dean, Greg Matak, who smells foul, is covered in animal skin with thick body hair. He met everyone with a bare chest, has a few deer antlers on his back, a totem hanging from his waist, and greeted everyone.
The foul-smelling Matak also invited Tygris and Laine into the beast cave, saying he wanted to serve them a special cup of red tea, but was rejected by both Laine and Tygris.
The day's tour thus ended.
The next day, Laine, Surya, Veronica, and Teresa went about freely. The women insisted on going shopping and demanded that Laine accompany them. Seeing he had nothing else to do, Laine readily agreed to join them on their shopping trip.
Thus, in the biting cold winter wind, one man and three women strolled the streets, exploring the Imperial Capital, while guards arranged by Emperor Carl followed them from afar.
The three women were all dressed in plush coats paired with high-heeled long boots. Slight differences included Surya's knee-length skirt, making her appear dignified, Veronica braving the cold in a short skirt and stockings, and Teresa not wearing a skirt, as the female sorcerer preferred tight leather pants in the cold weather.
The female sorcerer preferred wearing skirts when privately with Laine.
Even in the affluent district, Brunswick's streets appeared dirty and chaotic. The buildings seemed excessively illegally constructed, varying in height and appearing very chaotic. Every sight was filled with heads, with dense crowds obscuring their view, making it hard to see further ahead. Every street hid numerous alleys, housing either restaurants, residences, or shops. Identifying them relied solely on signage on the buildings.
The female knight, Surya, had a face adorned with an overly nourished blush, or rather, this had been her state for some time. The Countess held her husband's hand, her face full of exploration: "Prosperous, but messy."
Veronica empathetically explained, "Lady Surya, this is the Imperial Capital. The city's transient population far exceeds its capacity, making extraordinary crowding unavoidable. During winter it's better, whereas in autumn, farmers selling various products can overwhelm the city."
"But isn't this the affluent district? There shouldn't be so many people," Teresa secretly wrapped her arm around Laine's other arm. The female sorcerer whispered in Laine's ear, "Laine, have you been to Brunswick before?"
"I haven't been here, I've only heard of it. This is my first visit," Laine said with a smile. Today, he wore a standard Brittania Count's formal attire, with the Holy Grail Knight Commander's Badge hanging on his chest. The Count spread his hands: "Ladies, today is yours. You just pick what you want, I'll handle the shopping cart."
"I must say, Laine, this is how you should behave, and it's not bad; I rather like it, my Great Knight," Veronica threw a coquettish glance at Laine: "We can buy as we wish?"
"As you wish, I just handle the bill," Laine's expression remained calm.
Veronica immediately pulled out a booklet documenting all the famous clothing and jewelry stores in the affluent area. Teresa took out a map of Brunswick, noting all the worthwhile places to visit: "Let's get started!"
"Shop, shop, shop!"
"Laine said he's paying!"
"Not buying isn't humane!"
"Lady Surya, hurry up! Laine will definitely like it if you wear this!"
This entourage embarked on a shopping spree, with two witches and the female knight chaotically purchasing. They indulged in selecting and custom-making clothes, buying various shoes and jewelry, and also purchased many souvenirs.
The Empire is a diverse nation, and Brunswick integrates this superbly. All trade goods from the Old World can be found in the Imperial Capital, ranging from Kislev's white fox fur to Zhendan's precious silk fabrics, from Rick Territory's premium velvet stockings to Oster Territory's genuine leather high-heeled boots, from Southern Stronghold Nul's lace-trimmed clothing to Avey Territory's high-quality brown sugar syrup, and even Mut Territory's "Half-Elf Trinkets" (various exquisite snacks) from the Half-Elf Autonomous Region can be seen in Brunswick.
The three beauties' shopping frenzy attracted many nobles' attention. Several noble youths even attempted to strike up a conversation, but they soon found themselves ignored and became angrily embarrassed. However, Emperor Carl Franz had foresight, sending Great Sword Guards to remind these young nobles that if they really wanted something, they could choose between "cherishing" their precious lives or dueling with the renowned human hero "Pious" Count Laine Macado.
Seeing the Thunder God's Hammer flashing in Laine's hand and the smile on his face, the young nobles quickly dispersed.
Laine was still wondering if anyone reckless would come up to trouble him, allowing him to beat the young ones and face the older ones, eventually confronting an army alone and demanding a huge compensation. But it turned out there wasn't a single daring person!
