Warhammer Divine Throne
Chapter 835 - 369: Candlelit Night Chat (Part 3)
"We've seen the Justice Church Cathedral from the outside many times. This temple is considered one of the greatest wonders of the Old World, serving as the religious center of the Justice Church and the Charlemagne human god faith, and the seat of the Archbishop's throne. Thus, it is also regarded as one of the power centers of the Old World. Many scholars believe that sometimes the Archbishop of the Justice Church holds more power than the Emperor of the Empire," Teresa explained the background of the Justice Church Cathedral.
Today, the two witches followed Tygris to visit the Justice Church Cathedral. Laine refrained from joining to avoid suspicion, allowing him and Tygris to have two opportunities for investigation.
The magnificent stone relief façade overlooks the surrounding city, displaying to lurking Chaos Cultists and commoners the righteous judgment after brave souls battle evil doers. The cathedral's hall is truly a miracle in the history of Old World human architecture. The golden arched ceiling connecting countless balconies and arches is unforgettable. Holy Light and flames perpetually burn within the cathedral's hall, with hundreds of Combat Priests and Ascetic Monks patrolling day and night, along with numerous Demon Hunters appearing regularly. These Demon Hunters under the Church regularly pray here and receive the baptism of Holy Water and Communion, aiding them in dispelling the corruption faced while fighting Chaos over the years.
"Besides the Combat Priests and Ascetic Monks, there are also many Paladins patrolling throughout the cathedral... I can sense they don't quite like us, only keeping silent to save face for the Emperor," Teresa's cheeks gradually flush red, clearly indicating Laine's hands are not quite behaving.
"What about those Holy Relics?" Laine asked, his expression unchanged except for the mischievous smile at the corner of his mouth.
"The Church's Holy Relics, along with many powerful yet forbidden books and Magic Artifacts, are placed beneath the Holy Relic Hall. Rumor has it that portraits others painted for him during Charlemagne's establishment of the Empire and documents personally signed by him are hidden there. If these objects truly exist, they are the most precious artifacts of the Old World," Teresa frowned. "His Majesty Vicma refused our request to tour the Holy Relic Hall, stating that the heroes of humanity need to rest. Yet he himself often works and prays there."
"I see, I understand." Laine thought this problem was tricky. How could he and Tygris enter the Holy Relic Hall to acquire the first shard of the Crown of Lilith?
Normally for Laine, if he needed to infiltrate a place, he wouldn't sneak in like those ordinary Wanderers and Assassins. His method of infiltration was like this:
Kill every enemy he encountered so no one would know he was ever there. Dead men don't leak secrets.
However, this method certainly couldn't be used on his fellow humans, and the Justice Church Cathedral had so many priests, Paladins, zealots, Ascetic Monks, Pilgrims coming and going, along with a large number of nobles. Laine couldn't possibly kill all his human brothers, could he?
Even if, hypothetically speaking, he did want to kill, Laine and Tygris combined wouldn't be enough to handle so many people, and the Justice Church Cathedral is right in the center of Brunswick, where Rick Guard could arrive in five minutes.
Laine thought this matter needed further deliberation.
"We'll leave it at that for today; let's rest first." Laine shook his head, signaling for the two of them to rest.
"Rest? Are you going to Veronica's room or mine?" Teresa asked suddenly, not with good intentions.
"I'll go to Veronica's side. After all, we're not yet..." Laine's eyes shifted; he knew what the female sorcerer wanted to do, and the man deliberately evaded the topic.
Teresa's eyebrow raised; she had hinted so clearly, yet this man still pretended not to notice?
No worries, this man's weak spot was too obvious.
The female sorcerer's face turned beet red, and she whispered gently in Laine's ear: "Tonight you rest with me, I won't take off my stockings... how about it?"
"That's nice! Well then, dear Teresa, we should rest!" Laine's eyes sparkled upon hearing this. He lifted the female sorcerer in his arms and headed toward the room.
......
With the final Prince-Elector, Prince-Elector of Utebad and Duke of Stier, Albert Hapte Anderson's arrival in Brunswick, all the Prince-Electors were present.
The Imperial Council officially convened.
