Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System
Chapter 126: Divya Grim Situation
Following Anjali’s fair finger, Divya quickly found the black dots in the wind and snow at the foot of the mountain.
On the snow-covered ground, five black dots left deep footprints where they passed.
After confirming that it wasn’t an illusion, Divya immediately pulled Anjali and ran towards the back of the mountain.
"Pat-a-pat—pat-a-pat—" The ordinary cloth shoes crunched on the snow, making a crisp sound.
The two of them, however, felt completely opposite; if it wasn’t a coincidence, those five black dots at the foot of the mountain were people sent by Savage Wolf Shelter to find them.
Now they didn’t care exactly where they were going; they could only run in the opposite direction of the black dots’ advance.
At the same time, she opened the chat group; her message with Shalini had long been submerged by messages from other group members, and Shalini had already been kicked out of the chat.
The reason Divya didn’t talk to her privately was to let all the group members know Shalini’s stance.
She didn’t know what she would face next, but at least for now, she had removed a cancerous tumor from the group.
Just asking for group members’ coordinates and trying to forcibly take them away had already provoked public outrage.
The original intention of establishing the small group was mutual help; now, with this incident, everyone was united against an external threat.
[ Director Aditya: How are you two doing now? Shalini is no longer in the chat. ]
[ Director Aditya: Is there anything we can help with? Don’t hesitate to ask directly. ]
Director Aditya was currently still in the zombie ruins emptied by Vikram; such an incident suddenly appearing in the group caught him off guard.
[ Anjali: Five people from Savage Wolf Shelter have arrived and are almost at our Shelter. We are currently on the run. ]
[ Director Aditya: Where are you now? Give us your coordinates and see if any nearby group members can help. ]
Anjali now had a bit of psychological trauma hearing the word ’coordinates’; after all, it was this thing that caused them to be homeless.
She looked at Divya, meaning she was seeking Divya’s opinion.
"Just report it. There’s no better way right now." Although Shalini made her a bit wary about reporting coordinates, for now, she could only choose to trust the group members.
[ Anjali: (Coordinates) ]
[ Director Aditya: Now is the time for group members in need. At these coordinates, are there any group members who can lend a hand? ]
Director Aditya first checked the location and found that the coordinates were about four hundred kilometers from the ruins where he was located.
Without a vehicle, by the time he got there, it would be too late.
[ Radhika: Sorry, Divya, Anju, I’m too far from you. I probably can’t help you. ]
[ Bobby: Sorry, I’m almost a thousand kilometers from you. ]
[ Sunny Dalal: Goddess, I’m only two hundred kilometers from you. Wait for me to come save you. ]
[ Geetanjali: Are you kidding? Two hundred kilometers? It would take you a whole day to run that distance. By the time you get there, they would have long been captured. ]
[ Geetanjali: Divya, Anju, I see that there are no group members very close to you in the group, and constantly running isn’t a solution. ]
[ Geetanjali: I’d rather you find a hidden place to hide along the way, wait for the people from Savage Wolf Shelter to leave after not finding you, and then make plans. ]
[ Geetanjali: But remember not to expose your location again. Find a group member you trust to come find you. ]
Geetanjali didn’t waste time saying meaningless things about not being able to provide support but offered a good idea to the two best friends.
Loo
[ Director Aditya: Geeta is right. This way, at least you can avoid the members of Savage Wolf Shelter first. ]
[ Director Aditya: Maybe you’ll be lucky on your escape route and even find some wild Survivors to help you or something. ]
[ Director Aditya: We can’t give you substantial help for now, but if you need any supplies at the moment, just ask, and the group members will not be stingy. ]
[ Divya: Okay, thank you everyone. I don’t need anything for now. ]
[ Divya: I’ll contact you all again if anything comes up. ]
Hastily closing the chat, the two continued to move their feet without stopping, not daring to slack off even though the snow-covered path made progress very difficult.
Their most pressing task at the moment was to escape the search of the Savage Wolf Shelter; supplies were not yet in short supply.
"Hurry, Anju, there’s not much time. There’s a dense forest not far down the mountain. Let’s try to get there and hide first." On the way down the mountain, Divya frowned, her tone anxious.
Based on the location and speed of the five people down the mountain just now, they would reach their Shelter in less than half an hour at most.
They had to put a significant distance between themselves and them before that, otherwise, if their location was truly discovered, they would have no chance of escape.
As for the footprints left by their escape, she had no time to worry about them anymore. Now, Divya could only pray that the snow would fall heavier, covering their tracks as much as possible...
---
[Shalini: How are things on your end? Are you almost there?]
At this moment, Shalini stared at the communication, feeling a headache.
[Kuldeep Singh: Almost, Big Sister. We’ve already reached the water source Anjali mentioned.]
[Kuldeep Singh: I reckon their Shelter must be nearby. It won’t take too long.]
Kuldeep Singh, who had come out into the wilderness in the heavy snow to capture people, reported truthfully.
[Shalini: Don’t celebrate too early. Divya already knows you’re heading towards her Shelter, so she’s probably already run off.]
[Kuldeep Singh: Ah, then what do we do? Did we come all this way for nothing?]
Kuldeep Singh showed an impatient expression. Ever since receiving the coordinates of the two best friends’ Shelter last night, they had been dispatched overnight by the boss of the Savage Wolf Shelter.
They had traveled non-stop, from dark until dawn, and just when it seemed they were about to succeed, the people had run away.
How could he tolerate this? If he failed, the wasted journey was one thing, but if the boss of the Savage Wolf Shelter punished him, would he still be a small leader.
[Shalini: Don’t worry, they shouldn’t have gone far. You should quicken your pace now and find the two’s Shelter first. Perhaps you can still find some clues.]
[Kuldeep Singh: Alright, good that they haven’t gone far. Big Sister, just wait for my good news.]
Shalini didn’t reply to the message but sighed, rubbing her forehead.
"Damn it, it’s all because of Rahul Soniwal. Just two women, and he made the network of connections I painstakingly built up in the small group go to waste."
Her intention had always been to slowly benefit from the information in the small group. Divya and her best friend, to her, she didn’t actually care about them at all.
If it weren’t for Rahul Soniwal, the boss of the Savage Wolf Shelter, who was so lustful every day and couldn’t move when he saw pretty women.
If she had a say in the Savage Wolf Shelter, she would never have destroyed everything she had painstakingly built for the sake of Divya and the other woman.
"But these two best friends are really ungrateful. How many women are scrambling to get into the Savage Wolf Shelter? Now that they’ve been chosen, they’re unwilling to come."
Shalini rolled her eyes. She truly couldn’t understand Divya and Anjali’s escape.
But since she had already been kicked out of the group chat, she couldn’t let it go to waste. At the very least, she had to catch the two of them back and use them to recoup her losses...
---
Early morning, in the Treehouse.
Vikram, who had just woken up, rubbed his muscles. After a full day of fighting yesterday with Soohia, he felt soreness all over his body the moment he woke up.
He tidied his hair. Of course, he was completely unaware of everything that had happened in the small group.
It wasn’t until he opened the group chat during a breakfast break, intending to pass the time, that he discovered the overwhelming number of messages in the group.
He scrolled up slowly until he fully understood the whole story. Instantly, he lost all appetite for the breakfast in his hand.
Without hesitation, he opened Divya’s profile picture and called her.
"Beep—beep—beep—" The sound of the call waiting had just come through, but he immediately grew a little impatient.
"Pick up!" He slammed his right hand on the table, sending the wooden tray holding his breakfast into the air.
"Beep—beep—beep." The call disconnected tone sounded.
On the other side, in a dense forest some distance from their shelter, two figures were hiding in the grass, curled up and looking furtive.
"Divya, do you think they’ll find us?" The speaker was Anjali, and from her constantly scanning gaze, it was clear she was hiding from someone.
"Probably not. After entering the forest, our footprints got messed up."
Both of them spoke in very low voices, afraid that any sound would be heard.
"This forest is so big, it’ll be very difficult to find us." Divya’s words sounded confident, but her trembling body betrayed her current nervousness.
After seeing the five people down the mountain from their Shelter, the two decisively quickened their pace and fled, eventually reaching this forest.
Behind them, the two who had been squatting for a long time hadn’t seen anyone pursuing them yet.
The dense forest provided a natural Shelter for the two. At this moment, Anjali, seeing that no one was pursuing them, looked at Divya beside her and teased.
"Divya, look, when something happens, all the group members in the group are worried about you, but Vikram, your beloved, doesn’t even make a sound."
Actually, she knew this was unreasonable, but her first impression of Vikram was really not good. She just happened to seize the opportunity to whisper some things into Divya’s ear.
