Chapter 130: Run Or Die

The moment the arrow was shot, her mind was a complete blank, nothing else.

It wasn’t until she realized she had truly killed a living person that sweat drenched her entire body.

Subsequently, Divya also sank weakly onto the cold ground, staring blankly at the motionless corpse in front of her.

Anjali’s ability to cope was not much better than hers; even though she hadn’t shot the arrow, her small face was now deathly pale with shock.

"Hey, what the hell are you doing? Haven’t tied them up yet? If you don’t send the stuff out to me soon, I’m breaking down the door!" Outside, Kuldeep’s urging sounded.

Only then did the two come back to their senses. The sweat on their bodies quickly condensed in the extreme cold. They shivered, instantly becoming alert.

"Quick, Anju, find something to block the iron door." Divya knew this was not the time to be stunned. If the people from the Savage Wolf Shelter broke in, the two of them might suffer an even worse fate than Sam.

Divya and Anjali hurriedly moved all the heavy objects inside Sam’s Shelter one by one to the doorway.

Wooden single beds, tables, and chairs—nothing was overlooked, for fear that missing even one item would lead to the door being broken down.

During the moving process, it was impossible to avoid making noise, but they couldn’t worry about that now.

As the last chair was used to block the door, only the two of them were left in the already empty iron Shelter, staring at each other.

The five people at the door finally realized something was wrong. Kuldeep Singh stepped forward and pushed the iron door.

The iron door, which had been dented by his subordinates’ blows, now remained completely unmoved under his forceful push.

"What the hell, what does this mean, blocking the door?" Thinking he had been tricked again, Kuldeep Singh’s face turned ashen.

"Fine, fine, fine, so all of you want to go against me today, do you?"

"Then there’s nothing more to say, break down the door!" With a wave of his hand, the people behind him swarmed forward.

The sound of the iron door being struck echoed once again across the snowy ground.

Kuldeep Singh also didn’t stand idle. He circled the outside of the Shelter, confirming there were no other exits, before finally relaxing.

Coincidentally, Shalini’s message arrived at the same time.

[Shalini: How is it? Is it handled?]

[Kuldeep Singh: Don’t worry, Big Sister, what problems could there be with my work?]

[Kuldeep Singh: If it weren’t for my bad luck today, with some idiot pulling this ’hero saving the beauty’ stunt, those two girls would have been brought back by me long ago.]

He explained why he hadn’t succeeded after so long, incidentally covering up his embarrassment at being toyed with by two young girls.

[Shalini: Then hurry up. Those two girls must have called for help in the group chat.]

[Shalini: It’s been over two hours since they escaped; rescuers might be arriving soon.]

Although Shalini had been kicked out of the group chat, she was already well aware of all the group’s habits and conveniences.

[Kuldeep Singh: Hmph, how could such a coincidence happen? This area is so vast, and a Survivor just happens to be near her Shelter.]

[Kuldeep Singh: Besides, what if they come? Don’t you know my strength, Big Sister? Rare-grade creature isn’t a match for me alone.]

[Kuldeep Singh: It’s best if they don’t come. If they do, they’ll just become souls under my blade.]

Confidently typing out this message, Kuldeep Singh unconsciously pulled out his treasured alloy long saber.

The alloy blade reflected a dazzling flash of light on the snow, and from his eyes, it was clear how much he cherished this weapon.

He had spent a fortune to acquire this weapon; though it was also of Rare grade, it was in a completely different league from an ordinary Iron sword.

Even among the few minor leaders in the Savage Wolf Shelter, not everyone possessed one, which was enough to prove its preciousness.

[Shalini: In any case, it’s always good to be careful. The members in the group are more formidable than you imagine.]

[Kuldeep Singh: Alright, I’ll pay attention.]

Pursing his lips, Kuldeep Singh was quite dismissive of Big Sister’s fussiness, clearly not taking it to heart.

"Boss, this iron door is blocked too tightly; we can’t budge it at all. Our brothers’ weapons are almost blunted," one of the subordinates behind him said.

Kuldeep Singh looked in the direction of the voice, only to see that after half an hour, the iron door, apart from a pile of new scratches, had barely deformed further.

"Who told you to hack at the door with knives? Just cut down a tree trunk by the roadside and use it to ram the door!" Kuldeep Singh was truly concerned about the intelligence of his subordinates.

The subordinates slapped their heads awkwardly, thinking, "Didn’t you tell us to go straight for it?"

They grumbled internally but dared not show it, quickly cut down a log by the roadside, and the four of them began to ram the door together.

"Bang!"

Indeed, this time the previously unmoving iron door finally reacted; they could clearly see the door crack open slightly.

Seeing the excellent effect of the tree trunk, their actions became even more vigorous.

---

Inside the house.

After Divya and Anjali blocked the door, they didn’t just sit there waiting. They squatted on the ground, their iron picks continuously swinging, following the rhythm of the door being rammed from outside, digging into the ground with each strike.

The sound of the iron door being hammered perfectly covered the noise of their digging.

Like most Survivors, the floor of this Shelter had not been upgraded to iron due to saving iron.

Under the assault of their two iron picks, the stone floor was quickly chiseled open, revealing the soft earth beneath.

At this point, they no longer needed to worry about the noise their digging might make.

The instinct to survive made them not dare to hesitate in the slightest, and as they wished, a large pit was soon dug in the ground.

Without hesitation, the two jumped into the pit, and following this pit, they quickly dug through to the outside.

Feeling the wind and snow outside again, they both shivered simultaneously, their clothes flapping loudly. The iron door behind them did not stop being rammed despite their escape.

Divya glanced behind her. This iron Shelter was quite spacious, and the people in front hadn’t noticed that she and Anjali had already slipped out.

At this moment, she and Anjali didn’t care if they would be discovered. Braving the cold wind, they ran off, fleeing this place of trouble hand in hand.

The wind and snow ahead grew more fierce, but they couldn’t stop. Fortunately, they had rested for a while in that Shelter.

Now, both of them still had ample stamina, but she knew that the iron door wouldn’t hold out for too long. She estimated it would be completely broken open in at most ten to twenty minutes.

While running, Divya didn’t forget to open the chat channel and take a look.

Exactly two and half hours had passed since Vikram’s last chat. This meant that if she and Anjali could hold out for the last half hours, they might very well be rescued...

---

On the other side, Vikram sped along. He checked his current location; he was less than sixty kilometers from the coordinates Divya had given him.

If Divya had followed the direction he provided, they would meet in less than an hour.

He wasn’t worried about missing her location; the biological detector had been active continuously since he set off.

Next, he would try to get as close as possible to the red dot in the biological detector to ensure there was no mistake.

---

"Bang—Boom!"

After a loud crash, the shelter’s iron door lock was finally forced open by four people wielding a tree trunk.

As soon as a gap appeared in the door, Kuldeep, who had been standing by, stepped forward.

He pressed both hands against it, exerting all his strength. Even through his thick cotton clothing, his sheer power was evident as the door was pushed fully open in an instant.

Soon, the sound of heavy objects falling echoed from behind the door; all the furniture Divya and Anjali had used to barricade it was scattered across the floor.

Seeing this, Kuldeep entered the room first, his eyes filled with an indescribable joy.

He had already planned how he would deal with the two women.

However, when he raised the torch in his hand and lit up the dim room, the sudden illumination of the interior struck him like a blow.

The nosy Survivor he had threatened to kill lay dead on the floor, the arrow still lodged in his eyeball clearly indicating the cause of death.

Apart from the scattered furniture and a dirt pit, there was no sign of the two women in the room.

"Hiss, Big Brother, these two women are quite ruthless. They just killed their savior like that?" The men behind him gasped, seeing the gruesome state of the fallen man.

"Don’t be a damn fool. What savior? The owner of this Shelter is no pushover either," Kuldeep said calmly, unconcerned by their surprise.

He slowly walked to a corner where a pile of what looked like rubbish was accumulated. Kuldeep kicked away the black cloth covering it.

What was revealed beneath was a pile of human bones, some still with flesh attached.

They were no strangers to killing, so a few bones were nothing. But not disposing of the bodies after killing them, they could only think of one possibility.

"Holy crap, this beast eats people." It wasn’t the pile of white bones that scared them, but the disgust at the act of cannibalism.

Food in the Wasteland World was indeed scarce, but wild vegetables and fruits by the roadside were plentiful.

At worst, they could do as they did, robbing and plundering. But to directly eat their own kind, this was truly the first time they had seen such a thing.

Witnessing this scene, the subordinates were all filled with sighs.

"Boss, if we run out of food in the future, will we also end up like him?" One subordinate was so stunned he completely forgot they were still chasing two women.

As expected, his only response was a sharp rap on the head from Kuldeep. "What nonsense are you spouting? The two women have run off, and you’re still thinking about useless things."

"Exactly. With your intelligence, if it ever comes to eating people, you’ll be the first one eaten," a companion beside him joked.

Kuldeep glared at them, and they quickly fell silent before hurrying to catch up.

The Savage Wolf Shelter was known as one of the three major shelters in the region for a reason. Just Kuldeep’s subordinates had, more or less, consumed some Physique Fruits and Vitality Fruits. The energy they spent breaking down the door was mostly recovered after standing inside for only a short while.

However, as their leader, Kuldeep’s physique was clearly on another level.

He quickly widened the distance from his four subordinates, "You guys just follow the footprints. I’ll go on ahead, lest they actually get rescued."

With that, he quickened his pace again, and soon disappeared ahead.

By now, Kuldeep was thoroughly impatient. Repeated failures not only annoyed him but also gradually bred a sense of tension within him; the two women escaping repeatedly gave him an ominous premonition.

Fortunately, no matter how fast those two women could run, they still couldn’t outrun him, who had consumed several vitality fruits.
