Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System
Chapter 312: Punishment
Immediately, he pointed at Abhi’s nose and reprimanded him angrily, "Shut up! If you dare to spout any more nonsense, don’t blame me for resorting to extraordinary measures."
Vikram watched the scene unfold, initially wondering if they were putting on an act, one playing the good cop and the other the bad cop, to try and haggle the price.
However, Abhi’s next move dispelled that idea.
What surprised everyone was this.
Facing Kashif Ali’s almost threatening words, Abhi not only showed no fear but slowly stood up, speaking indifferently, "Whatever you say, Old Kashif, but the transaction you mentioned in the Shelter was for two sheep."
"I’ll take the rest back first."
With that, he walked to the back of the team, intending to take away the remaining livestock, besides the two sheep, on the spot.
"You..." These livestock were, of course, brought by Kashif Ali.
Because Vikram said he had plenty of medicine, Kashif Ali thought that since they were trading, he might as well bring more livestock in exchange for more medicine at once.
Seeing these livestock about to be taken away before they were even in his possession, Vikram naturally wouldn’t sit idly by.
"Wait."
Stepping forward and grabbing the other party’s arm, Vikram asked, puzzled, "Do you know me?"
"Hmph!"
Abhi looked Vikram up and down, his disdain completely unconcealed.
"Look at your status; how could I possibly know someone as lowly as you?"
"I’ll give you two seconds. Let go of me now."
"Otherwise, see if the people I brought will just stand there foolishly."
Facing Abhi’s contempt, Vikram’s expression remained unchanged, still clutching the other’s clothing.
"What is Sunny Dalal to you?"
Since Vikram didn’t recognize the other party at all, he must be a friend or relative of one of his enemies.
Combining this with his surname, Vikram’s investigation began.
Among the people he knew, the only ones with the surname Dalal seemed to be Sunny Dalal, whom he had angered half to death.
Indeed, when the others behind Abhi heard this sudden question, they all looked confused.
But Vikram clearly felt the muscles on Abhi’s face twitch slightly.
"Enough nonsense. I told you to let go. You don’t want to, do you?"
"Go get him! This brat dared to assault an officer. Grab him!"
Abhi struggled, and seeing that he couldn’t break free, he immediately turned and ordered the two dozen Survivors from the Official Shelter behind him.
Kashif Ali naturally didn’t sit idly by at this point. He tried to stop them but found that he couldn’t command these people at all.
Seeing this situation, his heart filled with anger, he could only shout a warning to Vikram, "Brother Vikram, run!"
However, Vikram seemed not to hear, waving his hand.
He had confirmed his guess, and now it was time to have some fun.
"Hey, don’t be so hasty. I didn’t say I wouldn’t let go. I’m letting go now."
He freed one hand, signaling them not to be impulsive, and prepared to slowly release the hand holding Abhi.
"Hmph, you little bastard, don’t tell me you think having a Shelter makes you special, huh? Someone like you, our Official Shelter could crush several of you with ease."
Abhi thought Vikram had chickened out. Before his hand was fully released, he started cursing.
But the next second, the foul words he had hidden in his mouth didn’t even have time to escape.
"Crack! Crack!"
"Pfft!"
The sound of bones cracking followed by a gush of blood rang out, one after the other.
Their gazes shifted to where their palms met.
Vikram’s hand now held a human hand.
The palm was intact, but the wrist had been brutally torn off, leaving a gruesome, jagged break.
Blood vessels and bone fragments remained on the wound, and bright red blood flowed freely onto the ground.
"Hoo... hoo!" Abhi never imagined that Vikram, who had been smiling just a second ago, would, in the blink of an eye, brutally twist off his hand at the wrist in front of everyone.
Then he tore it off.
He was now gasping for breath. Losing a hand wouldn’t cause immediate death, but both major arteries were located there.
At this rate, he would bleed to death from excessive blood loss within half an hour.
"You...how dare you?" Abhi’s eyes were bloodshot, and the trickling blood from his wrist made his face pale.
"How dare I?"
"Officer Abhi, didn’t you tell me to let go?"
"Look, we’re so far apart now, and I did as you said, didn’t I?"
"Why does Officer Abhi still have something to say?"
Vikram still clutched the bloody palm in his hand, teasing with a smile on his face.
Abhi covered his wound, enduring the pain as he urged, "What the hell are you still standing there for? Do you still want to work under me? Hurry up and kill him for me!"
"If this kid doesn’t die today, none of you will have an easy time even if you go back!"
Upon hearing this, the more than twenty Survivors immediately sprang into action, wanting to step forward and control Vikram.
Divya, Ron, and others also moved closer to Vikram, adopting a defensive stance.
"I’d like to see who dares to move!"
At this moment, Kashif Ali, who had been left aside, finally made a move. As he shouted, his Survival Platform showed an already connected communication.
Today was supposed to be a good transaction, but now it has turned into this.
Not only were his subordinates disobedient, but they were also going along with Abhi’s reckless behavior.
He had long been unable to bear it. When they had disobeyed orders earlier, he had already made the call.
After explaining today’s events in a few short sentences, a furious roar indeed came from the other end of the communication.
"Good, good!"
"Just a simple trade mission, how long have you been out? You’ve already rebelled against the heavens so quickly?"
"Let Abhi take the call!" And so, the current scene unfolded.
The voice on the phone was not unfamiliar to any of the Survivors from the Official Shelter present.
This trade mission had been assigned by the Survivor on the call.
In addition, the man on the call was also the direct superior of the Survivors, excluding Kashif Ali.
Everyone heard this, and the actions of the twenty-odd people all stopped.
Although they were willing to obey Abhi, the person on the call was the superior’s superior, an influential figure in the Shelter.
How could they still have the courage to act rashly?
Kashif Ali had initiated a video call, so besides the voice, Vikram, who was nearby, could also see the appearance of the person speaking in the video.
He resembled a military officer in Vikram’s impression, with a resolute face, stern and unsmiling, and the other party was currently in a fit of rage.
"Abhi! What do you want to do?!"
"After a few hours out, have you given all the rules of the Shelter back to me?!"
"Who gave you the authority to disobey Old Kashif’s words and give orders arbitrarily?!"
"If I hadn’t answered this video call, would you have even killed Old Kashif outside?!"
"Team Leader Evan, we didn’t disobey orders."
"Old Kashif said in the shelter that we were trading two sheep. I was just bringing back the ones that weren’t being traded."
"This kid attacked me first, so I ordered my subordinates to act."
"Am I supposed to just watch myself get beaten to death by an outsider without doing anything?" Abhi held out the hand that Vikram had forcibly broken, speaking with a look of grief and indignation.
"Shut up, don’t I know what kind of person you are?"
"Tell me, what do the military regulations of the Shelter say?"
"What should be done to those who disobey orders and disregard military discipline?"
Upon hearing this, Abhi’s face instantly darkened.
It wasn’t that he was afraid of the Team Leader Evan he spoke of, but rather that violating military discipline would affect his future promotions.
"Hmm!?" Seeing that Team Leader Evan on the call was about to erupt, Abhi could only say in a deep voice:
"Those who disregard military discipline will have their military rank demoted if the offense is minor, and if serious, they will be stripped of their military rank or immediately executed."
In a time of chaos, harsh measures were used. This last item was the strict punishment formulated by the official team in the Wasteland World.
"It’s good that you know. From now on, your military rank will be demoted to the lowest level. Do you have any objections?"
Abhi lowered his head, his face ashen. Judging by the bulging veins on his forehead, he was quite angry, but he dared not say a single word of dissent.
"No, Abhi is willing to accept Team Leader Evan’s punishment."
However, after saying these words, whether it was an illusion or not, Vikram felt as if the other party had made some decision and was actually relieved.
When he looked up again, Abhi not only no longer had a face full of dissatisfaction, but a slight smile even played on the corners of his mouth.
Vikram guessed correctly; this Abhi was indeed Sunny Dalal’s older brother.
However, due to the distance, he had never had the opportunity to bring Sunny Dalal to the Official Shelter.
The previous hostility was also because Sunny Dalal knew his brother was in the Official Shelter, so he had pushed Vikram’s information to him, hoping he would keep an eye on this Survivor for him.
When they met today, he had secretly sent a message to Sunny Dalal to confirm.
Seeing that it was indeed the same person, he then acted so strangely.
The reason he dared to do such a disrespectful thing in front of Kashif Ali was, of course, because he had long since arranged things with a high-ranking official at the Official Shelter headquarters.
Soon, he would be able to use that connection to get promoted in this small regional Official Shelter.
Not to mention completely outranking Team Leader Evan, who was in charge, he would at least be on equal footing.
So why would he still need to care about these people’s expressions?
As long as he didn’t die and had the backing of someone from headquarters, he would be able to reach the position he desired within these two weeks.
"Alright then, Abhi, I’ll be watching the rest of this transaction in person. After we return, you’ll voluntarily accept your punishment."
"Yes, Team Leader Evan."
His face showed a submissive expression, but in reality, his heart was already filled with disdain.
He had originally thought that Team Leader Evan had been relatively kind to him on normal days, and he wouldn’t make things difficult for him when he took the top position.
Now it seemed he was just a fair-weather friend.
Just for an old man, he didn’t give him any face at all.
He had already planned how to properly strategize once he returned to the team.
But for now, he still had to pretend, nodding and responding like a docile dog... The subsequent transaction proceeded very smoothly.
With the high-ranking official from the Official Shelter watching, no problems arose.
Kashif Ali had brought a total of two sheep, three ducks, and two wild buffalo this time.
Not to mention others, Vikram himself was dazzled.
These extinct livestock now appeared before him; how could he still have the mind to consider how many to exchange?
Of course, he would take them all.
As for the cost, it was merely fifty portions of various medicines they needed, and five portions each of medical supplies such as bandages, hemostatic clips, and medical kits.
Actually, medical supplies were originally more valuable than these medicines, but Vikram, for the sake of long-term sustainability, still included a few extra portions.
After all, these items, for him, basically had no use except to take up space in the warehouse.
Even if he gave them to the other party, he wasn’t really heartbroken.
What’s more, he could also acquire these livestock.
"Well, Brother Vikram, we’ll head back first. I hope we’ll have the opportunity to have another pleasant transaction next time."
Kashif Ali’s team had already arrived at the entrance of Savage Wolf Shelter, waving to Vikram and the others as a sign.
"No problem, Kashif Bro, remember to find me if you need anything. I’ll do my best to help."
Vikram responded with a smile, watching the team of twenty gradually disappear into the distant black mist.
