Chapter 236 - 152: Care for Some Flower Tea, Lord Constantine?
"It’s simple," the Witch said. "I’ll have the Azure Fire Dragon temporarily seal all his memories of you being a Dragon Knight. It’s the only way to keep your dual-class status from being exposed."
The Witch then produced the *Dragon Spear* and ten Gold Coins that Baron hadn’t had a chance to take. "This is what he traded you. Take it."
’So that means he won’t even remember the ’Three-kneeling Knight’ joke,’ Baron thought.
As Baron grumbled internally, he stored the *Dragon Spear* and ten Gold Coins in his Holding Ring. "About being dual-class..."
"You don’t need to tell me. That transaction is over," Carmen said flatly. "We’ve already formed a Blood Covenant. As long as you don’t betray me, I don’t care who you are."
Her tone was casual. It seemed the Witch really didn’t care much.
’She is a Witch obsessed with nothing but dragons and world destruction, after all. But that’s fine, as long as you don’t sell me out.’
Baron complained silently, but then he seemed to remember something and asked, "Miss Carmen, you..."
"Just call me Carmen. We’re practically partners now," Carmen said quietly, sitting on the dragon’s head.
"Carmen..." Baron nodded. "In the Outer Side, that bouquet of flowers in my apartment... was that from you?"
That bouquet, with its written blessing—after ruling out all other suspects, Baron had wondered if there was someone else who could travel between the two worlds like him.
And here, he had met Carmen, who was wanted in the Inner Side.
"No, I should say, was it from KK?" Baron asked.
Carmen shook her head. "It wasn’t me."
Before Baron could press further, she stood up on the dragon’s head, her gaze fixed on the world far below.
The fiery light of the setting sun hovered above her head. The crimson fragments crisscrossed like meteor trails, resembling some ancient sigil.
The wind, diluted by the Alchemy Array, lifted her hair and long skirt, making her look like one of the Fairies from mythology, cloaked in twilight.
She said, "Mr. Constantine, have you ever had a strange feeling?"
"What strange feeling?"
Baron heard Carmen’s heartbeat.
He realized that a danger he hadn’t perceived was about to occur.
Carmen pointed to the forest ten thousand meters below and said, "Doesn’t the way those trees are arranged look like the outline of a dragon?"
’The outline of a dragon?’
Baron leaned over to look.
It wasn’t obvious at first, but the more he looked, the more the forest outside Fude City resembled a Flying Dragon. A protruding hill was its Dragon Claw, a flowing river its wing...
He heard Carmen’s heartbeat growing faster and faster.
’According to the terms of the Blood Covenant, is this predicting danger for me? Has ex-fiancé guy caught up?’
The heartbeat suddenly stopped. Baron heard the Witch say from behind him:
"I don’t like the feeling of being controlled. I’m sure you feel the same way."
Baron sensed something was wrong.
But the Witch continued leisurely from behind him, "Do you remember something you once said?"
"I will not die for you, just as you will not die for me. Our story is nothing more than a transaction."
Baron’s body was seized by Spiritual Power and left dangling in midair beside the dragon. Carmen looked at the sneering Demon Hunter and smiled faintly.
"If you survive this, then I’ll owe you my life, Mr. Constantine."
Baron said, "Will you repay it?"
He glanced down. He could sense an extremely powerful fluctuation of Spiritual Power shadowing them on the ground.
He guessed it was Silver Wizard Fei and his Knights.
Carmen’s intention was probably to have him delay their pursuers. However, Baron estimated that from their current altitude, even though he had just Promoted to a Bronze Knight, he’d be crippled if not killed by the fall.
The more likely outcome was being splattered into pieces.
"Not necessarily."
The Witch smiled childishly, and Baron almost wanted to forgive her.
The Dragon Knight said, "Why don’t you look behind you."
Two Little Flame Demons were hovering behind the Witch.
’Good thing I held something back. I knew this woman was up to no good. Her heart was racing not just because she foresaw danger, but because she had a guilty conscience,’ Baron complained internally.
As if on the Dragon Knight’s command, the two palm-sized Little Flame Demons flapped their wings, spat fire, and screeched at the Witch like ferocious dragons.
Baron said, "Let me down, and I can pretend none of this happened. When we get to our destination, I’ll leave. We can part ways and go on with our lives."
The two Little Flame Demons continued to screech.
"But I can’t pretend this never happened. The Blood Covenant is set. What if you use it to threaten me in the future?"
But the Witch just shook her head. "I don’t trust you... I don’t trust anyone."
’KK was so much better...’ Baron said, "Then let me threaten you. If you don’t let me down, the moment I see Wizard Fei, I’ll become his personal radar."
"That’s assuming you survive," Carmen said. She blew a gentle breath, and the Little Flame Demons were extinguished.
The sneer on Baron’s face turned into a bitter smile. "You... your power is restored? When?"
"When you fed me your blood." Carmen nudged the still-unconscious Sun Knight beside her with her foot. "Otherwise, how do you think I beat him?"
"You’re already at the Silver Tier, so why..."
’Why are you so afraid of Wizard Fei?’ Baron thought. ’You’re a Silver Mage, nearly Gold, and he’s the same rank as you!’
"He has ways to deal with me specifically."
Carmen said, "Besides, your Spiritual Power has almost fully recovered at the rate of a Bronze Tier Dragon Knight since you Promoted. But you’ve been acting weak this whole time on the dragon’s back. Weren’t you pretending as well?"
’This woman is something else,’ Baron thought, then argued lamely, "I was also just being cautious... untrusting..."
