To her credit, she did not look panicked by the situation at all and her bodyguards immediately surrounded us to protect us.

It almost felt like they have done this before.

My girls were not far behind either as they also moved closer to me for protection and we took the chance to survey our surroundings.

"Seems like someone decided to crash this party," I commented off handedly.

Following the direction of the smoke, I found the source of the origin of the explosion in the form of a hole in the wall.

And the ones responsible for that hole were wearing red combat armour and pouring into the exhibition hall with weapons brandished. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Even though they were of a different colour, I recognised the design of those armours to be similar to Kaito’s security forces.

I guess he must have either gotten several of his men to attack this place while wearing recoloured variants of his company’s armour... Or he loaned them out to some thugs that he hired to do this job for him.

I placed my hand on Vieretha’s hand to pry it off from my arm, "My apologies Lady Vier, but this is where we must part."

She frowned, "What do you mean? Are you with them?"

I blinked at her, "Eh? No, no, no. That’s not what I mean. I mean that we must go off to fight now."

For dramatic effect, I reached down and ’tore’ off the skirt beneath my knees, which really was just Renata separating herself off from the bottom part of this dress.

It would look weird for me to still move around normally while wearing such a dress after all so I had to make it look like I changed myself to suit the situation.

I then reached underneath my dress to pull out my cube and let it assemble itself into my halberd, giving it a swing as my girls also pulled out their own weapons to arm themselves.

For the other guests, weapons were not allowed here so their guards were basically unarmed so there was no way for them to fight back.

It might have look like a mistake to disarm all of them but we knew if we had allowed them to bring weapons as well, Kaito would have snuck people in here with weapons as well which would have made things even more difficult to control.

Now... All we have to do is to focus on a single entry point and push them back.

"Ahahahaha! The intel was right! So many rich snobs all in one place!! Go round them up boys!!" A large sized guy shouted from the hole.

The thugs started spilling out of the hole and shooting out into the crowd, only to get fired upon by Yuki’s security forces as they took position to intercept them.

"Girls! Go!!" I ordered, prompting all of them to rush towards the hole in the wall.

Yuki’s security were already rushing there to hold the line as the guests rushed in the opposite direction for safety under the guidance of the staff.

For us, we were doing the opposite as we joined in the defense while bullets whizzed past us.

I heard a gasp coming from Vieretha as I ran towards the battle but I ignored it in favour of concentrating on the fight.

I dashed past the crowd, weaving through the spaces between them before leaping up above the crowd.

I secretly used a little of my Psionic powers to boost the height of my jump to clear the entire crowd before landing behind the line of thugs.

Shouts of alarm came from the thugs but I ignored them as I sank into a low crouch while holding my halberd perpendicular to the ground.

With a heave, I spun on my heel and swung my halberd in an arc, cleaving through the group of thugs that had been in front of me and separating their heads from their bodies, their armours completely useless against my halberd.

I trusted my girls to be able to handle the ones at the front as I rushed towards the hole in the wall to stem the tide of thugs still trying to rush into the exhibition hall.

Surprisingly, a few of them were not using guns and using some kind of electrified batons instead.

I’m guessing that these guys were here to try and get hostages or something but well... I’m not letting them pass me.

They rushed towards me and their batons sparked angrily in their hands.

I wasn’t going to let them get close to me with that so I swung my halberd again, this time letting the head of the halberd detach from the pole to let it fly towards the group.

They were definitely not expecting that as they couldn’t even react as the blade sliced through their necks and decapitated them just like their comrades.

Someone fired a few burst of lasers at me, my shield materialising to protect me from it.

I turned to find the person responsible, only for that guy to have his head blown out by a sniper round fired from Lea, his shield only managing to materialise for a brief moment before it shattered.

I then turned to find my next victim which was in the form of a large sized guy wearing heavier armour than his comrades.

In his hands was what looked like an electrified warhammer which he was brandishing menacingly at me.

"Some rich girl thinks she’s hot shit? Come get some, you little bitch!" He taunted.

Really? Did he not see how I just cut down these guys earlier? Well, whatever...

I kicked off the ground and sped towards him, watching him raise his warhammer to slam it down towards me.

I stopped right before I got into range and leapt backwards to avoid it, only for the warhammer to slam onto the ground and send a wave of electrical sparks towards me.

I had a moment to think that was pretty cool before I spun out of the way, the electrical wave rolling past me to crash into one of the thugs behind me and electrocuting him instead.

The warhammer thug didn’t seem that bothered that he just killed one of his own guys and simply rushed towards me, thrusting his electrified weapon at my chest.

I spun on my heel and swung my halberd in an arc, the axe head swinging past the head of his warhammer to hook onto the pole.

With a twist of my wrist, I forced both weapons to rotate and the warhammer was forcibly spun out of the large guy’s grasp.

I then continued my spin and spun my wrist again, unhooking the warhammer from my halberd to let the weapon fly back to its owner, this time with the electrified head flying towards him instead.

He raised his arms to defend himself right as his warhammer crashed into him with a deafening crack, the thug yelling out in pain as electricity coursed through his body from that moment of contact.

While he was momentarily stunned, I did not waste my chance to jump in and bring my halberd down in an overhead slash, cleaving the guy vertically into half.

As both halves of the thug fell to the ground, I spun my halberd in my hands to slice through another baton thug that had been trying to sneak up on me from behind, separating his torso from his lower half.

I chanced a peek at the others and the defenders seemed to be doing well as the thugs were being pushed back.

Those who tried to turn back to shoot at me ended up exposing their backs to the defenders and were shot down quickly so they had no choice but to focus on the defenders in front of them.

That means their backs were completely open to me, something that I did not hesitate in exploiting as I cut down even more of them with a swing of my weapon.

While I was separating the heads of another group of thugs, I idly wondered what Kaito’s plans were for this.

Surely he didn’t think that this would work, right?

I mean... Even if we weren’t here, Yuki’s security seemed to be entirely capable of keeping them back as well.

Sure, they would most likely suffer a few casualties without our help but I’d think that this would actually help Yuki secure the contract since she would be able to show off the fact that she could protect these important guests from these thugs.

And if they investigate these thugs and find out they were wearing armour from Kaito’s company...

Even if he were to deny involvement, it still would not be a good look for him.

So what is he actually--

The lights suddenly went out and the glass walls that were used to keep the creatures inside their exhibits sunk back into the ground.
