### Chapter 70: Drawing Everyone’s Ire

When Fiona Forrest saw Raina Lowell’s delicate and frail appearance, she seemed to recall something, and her expression turned savage. Her furious eyes stared at Raina Lowell as if looking at a mortal enemy she wanted to tear to pieces. The moment she saw Raina, she found it impossible to remain calm.

Because she looked too much like her father.

"Why?" Fiona Forrest demanded angrily. "If you want to know why, why don’t you go ask your father what he did to us back then."

The color drained from Raina Lowell’s face. If Fiona Forrest had lost all reason, it felt as if she would be holding a knife right now, ready to stab it viciously into Raina while she was weak.

"I came here today to give you one last warning. Don’t play any tricks in front of me. Even if you get Aiden and Hazel Hawthorne to divorce, you will never set foot in the Xavier family’s home in this lifetime."

As soon as she finished speaking, Fiona Forrest wanted to leave this suffocating place.

She hadn’t even reached the door when Raina Lowell suddenly screamed at her from behind, "Even if my father did something to wrong you, he’s been dead for many years! You shouldn’t take your anger out on me! Aiden and I are truly in love!"

"Are you really willing to watch Aiden live in an unhappy marriage with Hazel Hawthorne? In this whole world, I’m the only one who can make Aiden happy. Why can’t you consider what’s best for him?"

Raina Lowell sobbed as she yelled. Fiona Forrest spun around and stared daggers at her. "You say you and Aiden are truly in love? Then why didn’t he defy my orders and divorce Hazel Hawthorne? And why did he listen to me and marry Hazel in the first place?"

Her words were laced with scorn, as if mocking Raina Lowell’s confidence.

Raina Lowell was stunned into silence. Fiona Forrest continued, "You love Aiden so much, so you must know his personality very well. If it’s something he doesn’t want to do, even I, his mother, can’t force him."

"Do you still not understand whether he loves you or not? Would someone who truly loves you bear to let you be wronged?" Fiona Forrest’s mocking gaze made Raina Lowell begin to doubt the words Aiden Xavier had just said to her. It was as if two people were arguing inside her head.

She clutched her head in her hands, feeling as if it were about to explode.

Fiona Forrest left with a derisive laugh, the cold sneer on her face searing itself into Raina Lowell’s mind.

「Meanwhile.」 Hazel Hawthorne’s true identity had been exposed, and her relationships with her colleagues had once again reached an impasse. She had always been indifferent to such things; even having no friends wouldn’t seriously affect her.

She preferred solitude over making a wide circle of friends.

However, it did make work a bit inconvenient. People were constantly trying to sabotage her in secret, which had led to Hazel Hawthorne being frequently reprimanded by Director Shaw lately.

Chloe Lee watched her slink out of Director Shaw’s office again, unable to hide the smug smile on her face. Swinging her hips, she sauntered over to Hazel Hawthorne. "Well, if it isn’t our great Mrs. Xavier. Not enjoying life as a rich man’s wife at home, so you came to work to get pushed around?"

"Get lost!" Hazel Hawthorne had no time for Chloe Lee. Holly Shaw had given her a new task, and she had to get all the documents ready today. Tomorrow, she was scheduled to go on a business trip to Freyburg with Holly Shaw.

She was in no mood to deal with Chloe Lee right now and kept busy with the work at hand.

"You dare tell me to get lost?" Chloe Lee’s eyes went wide, and she gritted her teeth. "Who do you think you are? You just used some despicable trick to steal Aiden Xavier from Raina Lowell. Do you really think you’re Aiden Xavier’s wife, the young mistress of the Xavier family?"

"Am I not?" Hazel Hawthorne asked coolly, looking up.

Chloe Lee was left speechless by the retort, because what Hazel Hawthorne said was the truth.

After all, who could deny that she was the wife Aiden Xavier had legally and properly married?

Fuming, Chloe Lee spun on her heel and stormed off. Hazel Hawthorne looked away and went back to focusing on her work.

A message came in from Aiden Xavier. Just as she was about to reply, Sharon Winters dragged her exhausted body back to her seat. She leaned on Hazel Hawthorne’s shoulder, held up her hands, and complained, "They’re just too much."

Hazel Hawthorne noticed a red patch on the back of her hand and her expression changed slightly. "What happened? What did they do to you?"

Sharon Winters looked like she wanted to cry but couldn’t, explaining wretchedly, "I went to the break room and heard them talking about you and Aiden Xavier. They said you were a homewrecker who destroyed someone else’s relationship, that you stole Raina Lowell’s man. I got angry and started arguing with them."

"And then?" Hazel Hawthorne asked, displeased.

Sharon Winters sighed. "And then we all got heated and started shouting. I don’t know who it was, but someone’s hand wasn’t steady, and their cup of water spilled right onto the back of my hand. They said it wasn’t on purpose. Do you believe that?"

Sharon Winters’s tone changed. "If I believe they didn’t do it on purpose, then I’m an idiot! They totally did it on purpose! They were giggling while they apologized just now. I can’t stand it! We’re all women, so why do women always have to make things difficult for other women?"

"Besides, you and Aiden Xavier are a legally married couple! No matter what relationship Aiden Xavier and Raina Lowell had in the past, he’s your husband now. Raina is the one interfering in your relationship, so why does everyone always take her side and badmouth you?"

"If you ask me, they’re just jealous that you’re the one who married Aiden Xavier." Sharon Winters spoke quickly, the words tumbling out. "They all want to marry him, but too bad for them, they don’t have a chance!"

"It’s a classic case of sour grapes. If Raina Lowell were the one who married Aiden Xavier, they’d be saying the same things about her!"

Hazel Hawthorne understood. Sharon Winters had been targeted because she had stood up for her.

"Honestly, you don’t have to pay attention to what they say. I don’t care, so why should you? You just need to do your job and not waste time on irrelevant people."

Sharon Winters’s eyes widened. "You might be able to stomach this injustice, but I can’t!"

"Sigh. I just think it’s useless to argue with them. Instead of wasting your breath, it’s better to just ignore them. Believe it or not, ignoring them will only make them feel worse."

Sharon Winters didn’t quite understand what Hazel Hawthorne was saying. Then she saw the files on Hazel’s desk and her eyes immediately lit up. "These files... why do you have them? Didn’t they say the company had already assigned this to Mr. Shaw?"

"Yeah. I have to organize these files today. Tomorrow, I’m going on a business trip to Freyburg with Mr. Shaw."

Sharon Winters’s indignation vanished, replaced instantly by envy. "I wish I could go on a business trip with Mr. Shaw! I’d definitely learn so much. But I never get the chance. Mr. Shaw probably doesn’t even know who I am."

Hazel Hawthorne didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "I’m sure that’s not true."

"It’s true! I’ve been at this company for so long, and I’ve only ever spoken to Director Shaw during meetings. Never any other time."

Hazel knew that Holly Shaw was Sharon Winters’s idol. Seeing Sharon’s envious yet dejected look, she, being bad at comforting people, could only offer a couple of dry laughs.

Sharon Winters sighed wistfully. "I really want to talk to my idol. I wish I could be like you and get to be mentored by her."
