Who Let Him Play Yu-Gi-Oh!
Chapter 47 - 46: Chaotic White Dragon
The three kings of the Blood Moon confidently arranged their formations. Kaiba kept his arms crossed with a cold smile throughout, calmly watching their performance. đđđđđ¨đ˛đđđ¨đŻđđ.đđźđş
Then he smirked: "Is that all?"
The three: "!"
Such arrogance, combined with his increasingly mythical reputation in the Dueling Realm, made their hearts waver even though it was three against one.
"If this is all it takes for you to be complacent, itâs not even a challenge. Then let me show you what a duel between the strong should be like.
My turn, draw card!"
Kaiba swept his hand grandly, and the cover card on the field flipped over.
"Activate cover card, Trap Card - âNo Entry!! No Entry!!â" Kaiba declared, "Change all Attack Position monsters on the field to Defense Position!"
[Captain Who Penetrates the Enemy Formation, Attack Power 1200 â Defense Power 400] x2
[Variable Beast: Cannon Dragon, Attack Power 3800 â Defense Power 2000]
[Tree Bear Sea Otter Tree Bear, Attack Power 2800 â Defense Power 200]
Bartender Kazumi: "He actually turned all our monsters to defense..."
Big guy Aikawa: "Tch, the defense power of Tree Bear Sea Otter Tree Bear is only 200, does he aim to exploit this weakness?"
Ryosuke: "But even if it becomes Defense Position, the attack block effect of Captain Who Penetrates the Enemy Formation is still active. As long as I have two of these on the field, you canât attack us!"
But Kaiba completely ignored them.
"Activate the Magic Card âPot of Greedâ, draw two cards from the deck."
Kaiba drew two cards, one was added to his hand, and the other was revealed along with another drawn card.
"Continuous Magic âCyan Eye Illusionâ!"
The Magic Card appeared in the Magic Trap Zone of his backfield, shimmering with golden light.
"The first effect of this card is activated by revealing a âBlue-Eyes White Dragonâ in hand."
The card Kaiba revealed was indeed the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", he explained.
"When âBlue-Eyes White Dragonâ is revealed, you can Special Summon a monster from your hand.
Therefore, I summon this monster from my hand! Descend in a dazzling formâ
âLevel eight, White Spirit Dragon!"
A storm of white light surged, as the radiant white dragon spun up into the air, its bony wings spreading, scattering myriad crystal-like sparkles.
[White Spirit Dragon, Attack Power 2500]
"White Spirit Dragonâs effect: when this card is Summoned or Special Summoned, banish one Magic or Trap Card on the opponentâs field from the game."
Kaiba pointed to Ryosukeâs backfield cover card.
"Banish that card for me."
The white whirlwind whisked up the card, and before it disappeared into the dimensional vortex, it was seen to be a Counterattack Trap "Attack Powerlessness."
[Attack Powerlessness, Counterattack Trap
Effect: When an opponentâs monster declares an attack, negate that attack and end the battle phase.]
"Tch, you dismantled my second layer of insurance." Ryosuke scowled.
"The second effect of Continuous Magic âCyan Eye Illusionâ," Kaiba coolly announced, "Once per turn, return a monster on your field to your hand. Afterward, you can Special Summon a âBlue-Eyesâ monster from your hand!"
He pointed to his shining white dragon on the field.
"I return âWhite Spirit Dragonâ from my field to my hand!"
The radiant white dragon turned into a golden beam and flew back to his hand as a card.
"And then from my hand... I resummon the returned âWhite Spirit Dragonâ! Arise once more, White Spirit Dragon!"
Back in Kaibaâs hand for less than half a second, the white dragon returned amidst a shining storm!
[White Spirit Dragon, Attack Power 2500]
"Can you do that?" Ryosuke was shocked, "Can you Special Summon a monster returned from the field too?"
"Wait, before that..." Kazumi felt sheâd spotted a loophole, "Didnât you just say that âCyan Eye Illusionâsâ effect only allows you to Special Summon âBlue-Eyesâ monsters from your hand?
But this summoned monster is called âWhite Spirit Dragonâ..."
She wondered if he was trying to bluff them.
But Kaiba haughtily snorted, "Even though âWhite Spirit Dragonâ does not have it in its name, it is treated as a Blue-Eyes monster!"
The three: "..."
A fix! Thereâs definitely a fix!
Heâs saying that even though the card doesnât explicitly say it can be used like this...
The onlooking Yugen was speechless as well. Although he didnât know if thereâs any difference between this worldâs White Spirit Dragon and the one from his previous life, if it followed the real card effects from his past, Kaiba wasnât bluffing. The text of the card did indeed state, "it is treated as a Blue-Eyes monster by rule."
"Activate White Spirit Dragonâs effect once more, when Special Summoned banish a Magic or Trap Card on the field from the game. This time itâs your backfield!"
Kaiba pointed to the big guyâs backfield amongst the trio.
The white whirlwind lifted the cover card, banishing it to the dimension on the other side, it was a "Blast Armor"...
Yugen was speechless once more. He noticed that in reality, amongst common traps, animated characters seemed to favor Blast Armor the most. It appeared frequently throughout various Yu-Gi-Oh! animations, although its frequency couldnât redeem its success rate, which was always zero.
"Next, activate the Magic Card âUpper-Level Drawâ, sacrificing a Level eight or higher monster from your field, draw two cards from the deck.
I sacrifice âWhite Spirit Dragonâ, draw two cards!"
The spirit dragon, having completed its mission of clearing the backfield, faded into light points and scattered, filling Kaibaâs deck with a golden glow, as he drew two more cards.
"Then from my hand, activate the Ritual Magic - Chaos Form!
Sacrificing âBlue-Eyes White Dragonâ, level eight as the offering for the ritual, let Blue-Eyes evolve into Chaos Form!"
